The Angels assured there will be no clinching celebration at the Big A this year by emphatically beating down the Texas Rangers tonight. The final score was 9 to 3 good guys and the game was never really in doubt.
Brandon Drury started things off with a 3 run bomb in the first inning.
There was also an appearance of Good Reid Detmers tonight. Outside of a leadoff home run to Marcus Semien to start the game, Detmers stuff was as good as it gets tonight.
The Angels led from the bottom of the first through the end of the game. A 5 run Halo Blitz in the 5th inning sealed any Texas hopes and kept them fighting for the AL West crown for at least another two days.
Jo Adell cracked a ball right up the middle early in this game after laying off two decent pitches he would have definitely swung at and missed earlier in his career. I’m trying not to get my hopes up and we’ve seen it in spurts, but he looks like a new player this time around.
Also, great for The Plumber to making the most of this trip to The Show. He’s been a bit of a cult favorite around here for years and I respect guys who keep grinding until they reach the top.
I didn’t make the game tonight. Planned on it but really I wanted to just hang out with my son. Can’t take him on a school night.
