Morning Angels fans. Have links or whatever.
Angels News
The Worst Angel Team ever is the 1980 team right? 95 losses, a .406 winning percentage, a terrible team. Well… the 2024 Angels may be worse. They have a lower winning percentage, will most likely lose more games, and lost to the 115 loss WHITE SOX. Yeesh.
But they won yesterday? Yeah, well, they were supposed to.
Moore won’t be called up this year. Instructional time for him.
Nick Robertson is now a Blue Jay. He was DFA-ed by the Angels so maybe he has some use? Then again, he was let go by St. Louis earlier this year as well before the Angels got him.
Around Baseball
MLB players sue the sports gambling companies over using their likeness. Really, DraftKings and FanDuel shouldn’t be advertised on air anyway.
Who uses the most SP innings? Seattle. RP innings? Detroit. They are both going after the same WC spot.

Luis Arraez is Tony Gwynn of the 2020’s. Not EXACTLY, but the closest thing there is.
What positions are each team good and bad at? No surprise, the Angels have a good C and SS and that is it.
For the first time ever, a right handed hitter has hit a home run into McCovey Cove. Historic.
Should 21 be retired MLB wide? Houston’s manager says yes.
Anything I missed? Post below for upvotes!
On a positive note, since Perry is still here we get to see the platypus for two more years. I always enjoy logging on in the morning and being greeted by the platypus.
True.
I am stoked we brought Campero up and are giving him a look. I just like him… no super good reason. He just has zazzz. Wasted season, will need OF. Why not give him and Adams a long gander?
That being said, I’m glad they are NOT bringing Moore up and letting him learn pro ball for a while.
Was there anyone around here NOT aware the Angels are not very good.? On the other hand, we may need this news since we started acting like this org is the worst run team in baseball back in about 2006…. at least now we can walk the walk instead of just bitching the bitch.
I actually wish that the MLB wouldn’t retire numbers. Why? Cause a lot of players pick numbers BECAUSE of heroes. It would actually be cool if they found some way to make certain numbers “belong” to a great man of the game. Like let players were 24 or 21 if they want, but put the name ROBINSON/CLEMENTE under the number of any player wearing it…. so people are always making the connection that said player is honoring this guy. If they did this with enough players, or if too many players want #24 on a team, it could even become something to honor current players…. the team captains or Clemente Award nominees, etc are the guys allowed to wear the special numbers…..
Hey. MLB. Special jersey = sales. Just sayin.
Another thought would be to retire MORE numbers so that players can get to three and four digit numbers on their uniforms.
We also need more players with names like He Hate Me and Starberry Wuhan
I would love to see how the Angels rank with respect to injuries compared to other teams. It has gone on year after year, so it appears that may be yet another institutional failure.
HELL YEAH! Hey everybody look, it’s another huge failure to seethe over! Let’s do that Ju Ju that we do so well!
If anyone has a solution ready for this problem I have a list of 32 teams that will pay you millions for it. Just let me know and I’ll broker the deal.
Oh wait…. all we’ve got is another flavor of whining? hurray
Today’s Lineups
https://www.mlb.com/gameday/white-sox-vs-angels/2024/09/18/746172/preview
whoa…we’re loaded today! Lopez at #2 is gonna shock us with a tremendous day.
Every time I see that guy in our lineup it makes me want to throw up.
Nice hair though
Yeah, it’s great. Maybe he can get a job as a male model.
Yes, two foul tips…..
I hadn’t heard of Caleb Ketchup until this morning. Hit only slightly above .200 but that’s better than most of the team’s second basemen this year. Add in 60+ steals and passable defense and he might be a capable fill in at 2B until Moore is ready.
If Moore doesn’t break 2025 ST on the 25-man roster, he’ll be brought up later in the season. If he can continue to hit very well at AAA, there’s no reason to hold him back, except of course enough games for that extra year of control (Ala Kris Bryant).
I think Colonel Mustard has better offensive skills…..
https://youtu.be/oMarHac3VpQ
Moore is already better than Ketchup.
Ketchup could maybe be a utility IF/pinch runner type, I don’t think that impacts Moore at all
Didn’t mean to imply Ketchup was better than Moore. Just thought he could fill in at second if Moore isn’t ready. A .207 BA isn’t anything to cheer about, but it’s better than Drury (.169), Paris (.118), Hiura (.148), and Lopez (.065) this year.
I get what you are saying… Ketchup also hit .200 in A ball, not the major leagues
Besides lacking meaningful offensive output this season from: 1B, 2B, 3B, LF, CF and RF, and little or no power output from 1B or 3B, we gotta a pretty solid team, don’t you guys think?
SP, well I can’t even frame that facetiously.
Taylor Ward is quietly sitting at 2.4 WAR and an OPS+ of 112. LF was alright. He’s just so freaking streaky.
I can see heading into 2025:
Ward slightly above average as usual
Second half Adell is the norm and about average
Neto is a stud
O’Hoppe is a stud
Trout primarily DH’s and rotates around the outfield a bit.
That leaves CF, 3B, 2B, 1B as under water and very little depth.
IMHO, the decision on releasing Moniak stands on the ability of Adams to play better than him. I believe Adams has more options, but he is already hitting .250 which is a level that Moniak has to streak to attain, but never maintains.
Adell should be keep as you always give your teams #1 picks longer looks.
Agreed. I think they both go to Tempe and one of them gets the last roster spot.
If Moniak is the odd guy out, passing him through waivers when a ton of other players are on waivers is a decent way to hold onto him if they want.
We carried 5 OFs this year, so I think they both may be on the roster.
You’re right about Ward. He’s either been really good or really bad and right now he’s on a hot streak. He’s been bad more than he’s been good but he’s been on fire this last streak. Problem is next year he’s 31 and we’re not likely to win in 25 or 26, and he is very likely to be traded so he can’t really be in our plans.
Adel has never been average as a hitter so who knows. He currently sits at an 89 OPS+ which is right in line with where he’s been the last 4 years. So I’m not counting on anyone but Neto, O’Hoppe, and Trout, although Ward and Rengifo will be productive additions as long as they’re here.
we need a better backup catcher. O’Hoppe needs more breaks. He could be a stud, but his OPS is below .700 now, which I believe is a result of playing far too much
Several catchers passed through the waiver wire who are better than Thaiss but Minasian did not pick them up.
I’d exclusively DH Trout for at least a month to see if he can even just hit and run the bases without re-injuring the knee.
If thats good, then yeah lets rotate into a corner spot every now and then. But they shouldn’t take anything for granted anymore.
I’m a little fearful cause Trout the DH…. he kinda sucks.
We’re not going to catch the A’s…dead last for us.
Now, that’s the rotten whip cream on the top of this $hit sundae of a season.
LAST PLACE! Hell yeah! It had to happen sometime and it’s the crucible where true fans are made.
I don’t care what kind of candy ass “called to account, forced to address, gimme closure, feel mah pain” Arte fails to provide the sad sacks, but I will be pretty happy if he continues this rebuild that is not a rebuild. And no. We don’t HAVE TO trade Trout to rebuild. I think their secret squirrel goal is to have as many guys like Neto/Soriano/O’Hoppe solidified as possible and an improved farm by the time Rendon’s off the books and then start spending.
This season sucks. Next year probably will too. But eventually we’ll start the climb and it will be way more fun than bitching about being “unchampionish” or wasted unicorn meat for eight years.
To rebuild is to infer you have a clear direction and/or knowing WTH you’re doing. Arte appears to be neither.
So, is it pronounced:
Leblanc?
Leblan?
Lebland?
Halo radio and TV announcers and even Roger Lodge have been all over the place with this guy’s name.
“Le” is pronounced as “L ay”
“blanc” is pronounced as “s hit”
Oh, okay like Suarez = WTH is he doing here?
I would substitute any pronunciation for the letters DFA.
Who is…. you know…. gonna play the games? Cause we’re kinda low on…. you know…. baseball players.
The Plumber.
AP French classes?
1980 was not a full 162 game season…only 160.
Worst 162 game season is 1968…also 95 losses.

Goal setting is key to sucess.
Good story about Haden Seig.

Nice to see the Halo org show real class and concern to support him and extend this young guy’s family needed support.
I even applaud the Dodgers for employing that former player (Who’ll never play again) that had a mental illness breakdown so he can retain medical coverage.
Shortly after I stopped playing, someone in the office had a cousin playing for a Rockies MiLB team, he died in a car accident and the BoSox sent a huge flower arrangement and condolences-They never had him in their org, they just scouted and spoke to him prior to the draft. That’s class, which is needed so much these days.
Wagaman? Where did this guy come from?
So far, so good. We’ll see.
Been languishing in th minor leagues since 2017.
https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=wagama000eri
Looks like he may be a keeper (Small sample size).
Why? It took him 7 years to make it to the majors, there’s clearly a reason for that.
Late bloomer?
Agreed but if he can play third base passably he’ll get a minimum of 104 games per year with Rendon on the roster.
I’ve already stated I’m snagging Yoan Moncada for the infield in my Perry piece. Between him and Rengifo we’d have two guys who can move around a bit without breaking the bank.
Oh Jeff, I think you missed it, more like 125 as I truly believe Rendoomed won’t make it out of ST w/o a prolonged IL stay to start the season. I predict a 60 day right out of the gate, then we all know the on-off status he’ll have from that point for the season. I think if Wagaman and/or Neefo (Or somebody) can man 3B consistently, Rendoomed will be released after the AS break.
The problem is that none of this moves the rebuild forward in any way. We need to add pieces incrementally as opposed to a whole team all at once 3 years from now.
During the offseason, the Halo brass has to focus on Rendones zero HRs. That is horrendously and combine that with a pathetic BA, the contract only looks that much worse, and he blocks someone from his playing time.
The problem is the Halos sadly think they are one or two pieces away from contending…..
The team does, indeed, need more POP!
With Rendon and Trout we have SNAP and CRACKLE already covered……
HEYYYYOOOOOO!
He’s that guy who comes up at the end of the year, has a few good games, and disappears the following year after the league adjusts. 2000 minor league at bats at mostly lower levels tells me everything I need to know.
Thanks for ‘splaining. So he’s Stefanic’s brother?
I’d say a worse version of Stefanic.
Yo recuerdo Livan Soto en 2022
If I were Perry I would be looking for good young players at positions of need who are blocked in their current organizations by very good major league players and see if they need something I have like Ward, Rengifo, Canning, Anderson, or other position players that fill their needs, and I would be focusing on bats. We did next to nothing this year but wait which was ok. Unfortunately, nothing really good happened. Now we need to actively start improving the club even if it takes a few years to do it while continuing to provide the opportunity for the current players to emerge.
Politely disagree. We need pitching!
Angels have quantity but the quality piece has yet to take hold. No ace or No.2 but looks to be like lots of 3-4-5 slot arms.
Soriano being the exception, if he shows a little more durability.
Agreed. Soriano looked really good this season.
Well, I suppose it’s all true. We’re close to the bottom in both runs scored and run prevention so we need everything. We have some prospect hope on the pitching side, we have zero prospect hope on the hitting side.
We need hitting AND pitching.
Nice win. Good outing from Canning.
I’d love to see Detmers and Canning have back-to-back wins once this season. Of course, I’d also like to win the lottery and that has a better chance happening.
WTF…Cy Canning?
He absolutely could be. If he could only face the White Sox every game.
