Luis Rengifo is day to day with a wrist contusion while the Angels released Ehire Adrianza. The Giants closer, Camilo Doval, had a bad outing yesterday and knew it.
Mookie Betts suffered a broken bone in his left hand when he was hit by a pitch. Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Michael Grove are both also on the Dodgers IL.
Diamondbacks left-hander Logan Allen went unclaimed on outright waivers over the weekend, elected free agency, and then signed a minor league deal with the Diamondbacks. The Astros released first baseman Jose Abreu.
Former major leaguer and coach Mike Brumley died at the age of 61 in a car crash. The Angels also lost long time Triple-A broadcaster Steve Klauke, also to an auto accident.

When will the Plesac DFA chants kick in? 7::45 PM?
at least not until next week.
LOL, as soon as he shows himself human.
Others have already noted the news, but I’m here to repeat it just ‘cuz it feels good:
Angels DFA Suarez!
Constipation: OVUH!
SUAREZ IS NO MORE!
As much as it’s long overdue, happy he’s finally gone, embarrassing to have him on our roster this long……..with that said, we have 3 or 4 guys that are as bad or almost as bad as Suarez. So everyone just moved up one slot. At this point are we any worse off have Strickenland pitch?
A day that will live in infamy!!!
why didn’t Perry draft Skenes!?? Skenes tonight, 4 IP so far, 1 run, 4 hits, 0 walks, 6 Ks. Nice job, Perry, waiting til the 11th pick.
Speaking of the 11th pick, I keep running the tankathon draft simulator and even with the 3rd best odds it seems we end up with the 7th pick while Cincy or Detroit or somebody, with a 1.53% chance, jumps up to #1.
I got ‘em at no worse than 5th. Long way to go. The worst thing that can happen, Perry is tricked into thinking this team is good. Need more ping-pong balls.
Plesac is now starting tonight instead of Soriano.

You beat me by 10 seconds 40.
I’m not seeing a reason for this……in other news, Rengifo day to day, which means week to week or month to month.
…and another trade asset is devalued
Cy Suarez coming to a ballpark near you!!
Well, I guess Vanessa Hudgens will be DFAing Tucker soon.
Hard to believe Tucker was a Pirate top prospect. Pretty much a big meh.
Great hair though, makes me wax nostalgic….
DFA JOSE!!
DFA JOSE!!
DFA‘ED JOSE!!
Okay Plesac, step up pal!
It’s a great Monday for Pedro! His wish came true.
At our current pace of W-L record we could win 63 games, as playing a guessing game in the Spring the pretend over/under was set at 73 games, then changed to 72 and finally to 70 games which about split most here down the middle.
As we sink a little more this season and the finger pointing is picking up steam, why are those who still believe that with nothing changing do you still not embracing change. You believe in ownership change and some believe in Gm change but not player changes. Other than O’Hoppe and Neto, why is Anderson, Sandoval, Estevez, Ward, Rengifo, Schanny, so dang important to our team’s future? Trade everyone to make for a better future. Why hold on to what does not work? We are not going to win with this roster and the pieces that return players to infuse the minor leagues will work, even if the ownership stays the same.
Now, you want to Judge whether or not our current GM is worth keeping, embrace his trading for rebuilding pieces.
KC got a new owner-he got himself a new GM, but the pieces the old GM put in place our growing up to be winners. Baltimore got lucky and got a new owner, but the pieces that were drafted and traded for are now winners. We will not be winners until this idea that holding on to what we got is banished and changes are made to make a better tomorrow.
Time is now to fill the needs of our team with what the needs of the playoff bound need and we have. We held on to Ohtani to long, Trout also to long, and Rendon proved what we already knew, big contracts do not make a team a winner.
Hey, sure I like Ward, but he may bring something even better for the team. Do you really like seeing the yuts? Well now is the time. We can sign cheap veterans for two or three years as Atlanta, Houston did while waiting for the minors to develop. We can lose with them as well as with what we got. There is no better than the present to start a turnaround than now.
The Sleestack will get his opportunity.
There it is
Sure, sounds good. Let’s do it.
It’s the little things in life that help me get through the day. Knowing that Jose Suarez won’t be pitching when I turn on a game helps.
I already miss him. Greatest Tank commander we ever had. We will regret this move when Tanking season starts in late July.
Free Suarez!
He certainly generated lots of material.
Unlikely, anyone will sign him so he could end up back at SLC and then back to Anaheim? We did the same with Plesac who is now back.
That’s how we roll.
That ain’t a little thing my friend….
Finally !!!
Good riddance to Suarez !!
Buh-bye Suarez. Will not miss you one bit.
Oh Otto, we hardly knew ye.
It finally happened. Wow, I was about to sell my soul to have him removed from this team.
Finally!!!!!!!
Also, today marks 6 weeks since Trout had his surgery. While no timeline was given for a return, this is typically a 6-8 week-long recovery.
For Trout add 2 weeks, slow healer you know.

José Suárez does not have a locker in the Angels clubhouse.
Zach Plesac is here.
Interesting and when you read the post, Tucker is also DFA’d with Drury apparently back.
Tucker just sucked. Thank goodness Drury is back.
So much for Ron Washington preaching accountability. If they dont DFA or trade away this dipshit, It makes the coaching staff and the organization into a mockery
Too late, Mockery has been achieved long ago.
Oh Perry, how did the 1/3 season evaluation go with Arte?
now we’re closer to the halfway point, just another 10 games. I think we have enough evidence that we should be selling. I predict, though, that we’ll keep Anderson.
Checking in on the Marsh-O’Hoppe trade just for fun. Their 2024 stats:
Brandon Marsh – .256/.337/.748, 1.6 WAR, 113 OPS+
Logan O’Hoppe – .281/.332/.803, 1.7 WAR, 124 OPS+
We had a CF but didn’t have a catcher so this has worked out well for us, and he’s 2 years younger. That’s one of those trades though that has actually benefitted both teams. I don’t know why teams don’t think like this more often. We need a 2B and you need RF.
Oh no Hobbs, let some on here tell it. Marsh is the second coming of Willie Mays.
Except hes only playing centerfield for the Phillies right now because they have no better defensive options that can hit.
Yeah I agree, despite the injuries to Trout and Realmuto this season hahaha.
You’ve got to love O’Hoppe having the superior bat, especially comparing position for position. But he is a below average defensive catcher and Marsh is a great defender, so that balances out a bit I think.
The best part of this trade is that I really LIKED Marsh. So it sucked trading him. But I really dig O’Hoppe. Baby Thurman. It’s really great when you lose a likable player and gain an even cooler dude.
Marsh is a platoon player, takes his value down 2-notches
The Dodgers have gotten miserable production in LF and at 2B. They have plenty of pitching at the AAA level and some enticing pieces in High A.
Yes it would suck to help them win a ring, but it would be more tolerable if they won a ring with good guy Taylor Ward and either Rengifo or Drury on the roster.
In the meantime, we get badly needed prospects that are fully developed by an organization that is actually good at developing talent.
And if the Yamamoto injury ends up being serious, might an Anderson reunion be in the works to get a pitching prospect or two?
That would be both incredible and unprecedented to my knowledge. But cool.
We’ll hand you our present, you hand us your future.
I’m all for it. Let the pain begin now and end sooner.
The strategy for this summer should be pretty obvious to the two above:
If done correctly the High A and AA teams could see a massive influx of talent. The type of influx that allows a team to hope it will be good in a couple of years.
I would support that plan. At least you have a plan. 🙂
Theres also a group of young (allegedly) talented international signee position players at Low Class A and the rookie leagues that may ultimately ascend to the big leagues, but JJ’s right, there doesn’t seem to be any pitching talent emerging at the lower levels with the possible exception of Barrett Kent.
The Doyers need to fill the void created by Yamamoto’s strained Rotator Cuff. The Angels should be able to trade Tyler Anderson back to them and get something tangible in return. Hell if Arte wasn’t so cheap he’d let Perry eat some of TA’s salary either this year’s or next (NFW the Doyer’s get below the highest CBT threshold of $297 Million this year but next year is a real possibility) if we can get a better prospect package in return.
Part of the problem with the “loading up on young prospects” idea Jeff is that those young guys need to be developed. If your development sucks, then you get screwed on a plan like that… in short you are putting the cart before the horse.
We need to reinvest in the infrastructure; that means ownership spending on scouts, coaches and all kinds of nice little extras that encourage strength and competitiveness on all levels. So, I don’t like this idea. Especially if you want to get rid of Ward and Rengifo and ONLY get prospects back with no proven players. Pretty much I never like trading productive players under 33 if you don’t get proven MLB player/s in return.
I don’t want to be negative here, but most likely none of this works without a change in ownership. So, we are left hoping Arte kicks the bucket. While there is a shot we can win next year or 2026 by keeping those players, odds are we need Arte to die or sell the team for a turnaround to happen …
Agreed but notice my plans always call for prospects in the AA range and advanced college bats, mitigating much of the development curve.
The average AA player in Atlanta, Cleveland, or LA’s systems has received a lot better instruction than the average AA guy in most organizations, certainly ours. So let’s try to get those guys.
I’ve been watching the series “Clipped” which deals with Donald Sterling’s tenure as the LA Clippers owner and without the racism it reminds me of Arte Moreno.
That’s a pretty fun show. Worth the watch for Ed O’neil alone.
Yes. You want to be negative here.
My question to all of the “we no deverlap so bad so sad nah trade.” guys on this site is WHAT THEN? Keep Ward, Drury, Anderson, Rengifo? Why? Where does that get us both this year and next and the next? WTF do “proven players” do for us this year? Next? Or do you think we’re getting “proven” guys with three to five years of club control in these trades? So they can what, leave a year after the team’s over .500?
The GM is the GM. The owner is the owner. The sky is blue not black. Tigers eat meat not oatmeal. This is the situation as it really is now. So…. do any of you have a different plan WITH THIS SITUATION?
All the guys we’re talking about trading are going to be gone anyway. What do you have to lose?
The idea is to keep your good players and get rid of your bad ones (newsflash). That should be self-explatory and obvious, but to some it is not. In the case of a guy that is expiring after the current season (like Strickland for instance) it is different. I fully understand trading these guys when the season is lost. But this is NOT the case with Rengifo or Ward, or really Anderson either, though he is somewhat more understandable with only one year left after this one.
I have already explained my position ad nauseam about trades and acquiring “prospects” or lottery tickets for productive players, if you don’t remember and don’t read anybody’s posts but your own then too bad.
💯 trade every movable contract, Perry is on the clock
Do not trade Ward. There still gave to be a few MLB players on this team. Perry won’t get anything for him anyway.
Take over Jeff
Is using Joyce as an opener setting us up for a loss?
After seeing 100mph for 2 innings, a team would feast off the next guy in.
Even worse with Suarez.
I’m sure their focus was on getting Joyce some work and see if the ERA could get below 18 and the WHIP below 3.
