Angels Lost 13-6

Double bullpen game today. So be it.

Inning #1:

Luis Rengifo, now batting second, reached on a ground ball to Matt Chapman that was ruled a single. A passed ball moved Rengifo to second and Kevin Pillar singled to make it 1-0 Angels.

Ben Joyce started the second half of the first inning. No score by los Gigantes.

Inning #2:

“No-pop” Schanuel homered to make it 2-0 Angels.

Ben Joyce had a rough bottom of the second inning when, with two outs, he hit a batter and walked a batter to put two men on with two outs. He got out of his jam on a fly ball out to Jo Adell.

Inning #3:

The Angels were out 1-2-3. Jose Suarez came in to pitch. Brett Wisely doubled immediately. Heliot Ramos was held to a mere single. Patrick Bailey reached on a fielder’s choice which resulted in a run-down play with Wisely out at home courtesy of Luis Rengifo.

A fly out and a pop out later and we are headed to the fourth inning.

Inning #4:

Again, the Angels went down 1-2-3. We were winning, but it sure didn’t feel that way. Suarez came back out to pitch. He walked Jorge Soler and gave up a double to Wilmer Flores to put men at second and third with no outs. He hit another batter to load the bases. Thairo Estrada doubled to tie the game. Brett Wisely also doubled to make it 4-0 Giants. There were still no outs. Suarez was removed in favor of Hunter Strickland. A strikeout and two singles later, Luis Rengifo had to leave the game. The second single by Matt Chapman got Rengifo on the glove side wrist. 5-2 Giants.

Michael Conforto popped out but Jorge Soler homered to make it 8-2 Giants. Then Cole Tucker, who took over at third for Rengifo, committed a two base error which set up an RBI single by Austin Slater. 9-2 Giants. Jose Marte came in to replace Hunter Strickland. He got Thairo Estrada to ground out.

Inning #5:

The Angels again went three up three down. So did the Giants, basically. Heliot Ramos did reach safely on an error, but he was erased on a double play.

Inning #6:

Angels got a groundout, a walk, and a double play to score nothing. Jose Marte gave up a walk and a wild pitch, but got out of the inning without further scoring.

Inning #7:

Zach Neto singled and Nolan Schanuel walked. No runs resulted. Carson Fulmer came in to pitch and gave up a homer to Austin Slater 10-2 Giants.

Inning #8:

Cole Tucker doubled. Nobody else did anything. Michael Conforto doubled. So did Jorge Soler. 11-2 Giants. Trenton Brooks singled. 12-2 Giants. Austin Slater walked. Luis Guillorme came in to pitch and got two outs on two pitches. A run scored on one of them. 13-2. The third out took him two whole pitches.

Inning #9:

Willie Calhoun singled. Matt Thaiss doubled. Zach Neto sacrificed in a run. 13-3 Giants. Nolan Schanuel walked. Jo Adell got an RBI hit. 13-4. Kyle Tucker walked to load the bases. Michael Stefanic doubled to make it 13-6 Giants. Mickey Moniak and Luis Guillorme both struck out to end the game.

13-6? Kinda early for a football game.

If anyone has any confidence that Perry will get any viable prospects from any upcoming trades is delusional. The fact that Perry keeps Suarez on the roster means that Perry is absolutely clueless.

So, I was at the park. A shitastic game after the 3rd inning. Fucking Suarez, like 2nd and 3rd, no out in the 3rd, but managed to get out of it. Then bases loaded no outs in the 4th, we all know… At least it was Father’s Day and I got to spend it with my son and his wife (except they got Covid mid week and couldn’t go), lolz

I skipped this one and laid on the beach all afternoon.

Highly recommend.

The duality of this team of youngsters. One game they look like world beaters, and the next…

Not sure if something is lost in translation, or Suarez meant what he said. Either way, I hope this is the end of him in an Angels uniform:

What do you think went wrong today?

It’s part of the game. I can’t control that.

Do you feel like it’s bad luck. Or is there something behind where your numbers are at right now?

I feel like I made pretty good pitches. They put good contact on it, and I can’t control that.

Wash said he felt you weren’t locating well. Do you agree?

What I saw is that that the hard contact that they made on me, they were pitches out of the zone.

If there are any Laker fans here: this is the same crap that made us loathe Russell Westbrook: he’d play horribly and then answer Qs like Suarez here: no “I need to be better” or “This one was one me” or “Today I sucked and needed to throw strikes…” or “I feel like I let my teammates down and it sucks…”

Just: I dunno. Just the way things go. I was doing my job. Etc. Man, Westbrook rapidly lost all Laker fans with this crapola, and Suarez here does pretty much the same thing.

You’re a professional: take some responsibility. I guess the difference is that Westbrook had had a career of actually putting up impressive numbers. Suarez? Naw. Not sure why he’s in the Bigs still.

This game didn’t deserve a write up. You could have stopped at “Suarez came in to pitch”

Way to be a pro on the post game.

It really could’ve been “Suarez pitched” and we all would’ve known the inevitable.

I do applaud the way he’s sacrificing personal future contracts to make sure the Angels pick early in 2025. What a team player.

Cowboy26 summed it up best today.

It’s like jabbing a fork in your eyeball and then wondering why it hurts so much.

Happy Father’s Day all!!! Don’t know if Suarez is a father, but he needs to spend more time elsewhere. Time to make a change. Good stats by Joyce. Hope he keeps learning.

Ben Joyce starting the game on Bloomsday! That’s all I got.

Schanny hit one over the CF fence. Okay, that too.

A pug-fugly 9 runs given up in the 4th, courtesy of that worthless tub of goo named Jose Suarez, may he never be seen in an Angels uniform again. Fer crissakes! A “reliever” in mid-June with an ERA over 8? Will no one rid us of this turbulent tubbo?

He’s made it through 4 different head coaches, what in the hell do these idiots see in this guy? He can’t even come into camp in shape. He’s one pupusa away from Bartolo Colon status.

Somehow, Bart made his adiposity work for him. Cy Young. Once threw what? 38 consecutive strikes? I have no problem with a player who’s performing up to snuff; Jose Suarez is NOT performing up to snuff.

I do admit to wincing the other day when I watched Daniel Vogelbach hit. Dude’s gut hangs out over the strike zone. I thought, “Jeez man! You’re an absurdly well-paid athlete: at least exercise a little bit…” Then he got DFA’d by the Jays for not being able to hit anymore. As a DH. He was at .186 and TOR just said, “You’re gone, fat-azz.”

Now, if he hits .285, with pop: no one cares. But he wasn’t performing. And neither is Suarez.

Hey, Babe Ruth was a lard-ass too. No one cares when you perform at that level.

(Feel free to insert “Mike Trout is fat” jokes here: long-time HH meme.)

I wish there were a chart of Babe Ruth’s weight, season by season. I’d be curious to know what he weighed in1916,1921, 1927 and then at the end of his career.

My comparison is strictly to the size of their belly, not their skills. Suarez has zero and colon was a good pitcher.

Everyone go do something enjoyably to make this mess go away. Glad I missed most of it.
