LA Angels Monday News Crash: No Soup 4U

On top of everything else, Ippei Mizuhara has been banned from delivering for Uber Eats.

The Angels had a pretty good game on Sunday to make up for those other ones. Does anyone have a problem with Tyler Anderson getting traded? This article is about pitchers at the trade deadline. While this article is about every team’s best home grown hitter lately. (Spoiler alert: Mike Trout).

The Marlins just released Avisail Garcia. He cleared waivers. I guess nobody wants to pay him $12 Million to suck. Right-hander Jake Woodford is now a free agent.

The Phillies had some trouble in that second game in London. Their closer Luis Alvarado was not good at all. They had won the first game.

Sorry Oregon. I guess Texas A & M advances.

Don’t listen to their advice on base running……..or hitting. Especially ignore, and do the opposite with their pitch on pitching. Same goes for defense or any other baseball fundamentals. But it looks fun!

So the Angels dumped a player to open up a 40 man roster spot https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/06/pirates-claim-niko-goodrum-from-angels.html
But no-one knows why.

Must be some one on the 60 day IL is getting activated but who? Here are the current 60 day IL candidates:

Anthony Rendon
Sam Bachman
Chase Silseth
Kelvin Caceres
Jose Cisneros
Jose Quijada
Robert Stephenson

What a game by O’Hoppe yesterday.

I drove up to Bakersfield and back. Needed to melt in the 100 degree heat for a bit. (Really we a group did a lunch to commemorate the 1 year anniversary of a dear friend’s death).

I missed what is probably the game of the year.

After yesterday, he has a 115 OPS+. 15% above the league average, and well above the average catcher, as catchers are the worst hitters in the league by position. I believe he is on his way to the All-Star game, if not this year then next. Definitely the best of the youngsters. He’s 24, let’s see where Neto is next year for comparison. Right now, those are our 2 position player keepers. Adell and Mickey are both 25 and hitting under .190. They need to pick it up before the end of the year. Schanuel is only 22 so he has time to develop, and as bad as he’s been, he’s performing about equal to Adell as a hitter. Schanuel should really be in the minors at least the rest of this year.

I would also move Schanuel to the minors. The problem is the thin air in Salt Lake isn’t good for developing hitters so I’d move him to AA. That would look like a massive demotion but it would be for the best.

Completely agreed on O’Hoppe.

Even though Schanny current projections over a whole season are close to 20 HR’s he is not hitting the ball hard enough to be effective. An average exit velocity of 85 MPH is not helping his cause as he cant hit the ball hard enough to get those ground balls past the infielders or in the gaps or over the outfielders heads.

Even his last 2 HRs at the Big A were cheap over the RF yellow line “shots”

It kind of reminds of David Fletcher after the shine wore off. Once the fielders knew how to play him he didnt hit the ball hard enough to find any holes.

has pitched much better recently, with a 2.87 ERA over his past seven appearances dating back to May 3. He’s not fully stretched out for a lengthy outing, but he should be able to deliver around 50-60 pitches.

He’ll keep us in the game, and then, the Bullpen BULLPENS.
The offense will get back to its usual struggles

I managed an incompetent employee years ago and I’d get a new boss just about the time that I had built a case to fire him. Several of my new bosses then wanted to manage him into productivity only to discover that he was in fact a cur. We would then started building a case only to repeat the cycle…

I give you Jose Suarez

So, correct me if I’m wrong ( which has happened multiple times, just ask my wife, she has a chronological list), but The Angels were paying Ippei such a small salary, that he also had to drive for Uber Eats?

He stole French Fry’s and sips on the drinks. Great way to earn some extra cash while listening to his favorite “Gambling Podcasts” in his car.

(could you imagine if you were an Angels fan and Eppei showed up at your house with your #4 chicken nugget meal 😀😀😀)

kind of a weird flex by uber eats to have a spokesman say Ippei no longer has use of the platform.

Yea what does his gambling issue have to do with his driving for Uber? Seems like he’d be sort of a celebrity and in demand. 🙂

Court records revealed his Angels salary as 80k, right?! By his own admission of “he tried so hard to keep up with Ohtani’s lifestyle” (whatever that means, because I thought that dude was all about just baseball), he most likely needed another source of income.

Anytime we beat that crybaby is a good day. A bonus is when a run scores on a successful bunt. Cry more, Ohtani fan-lover’s brother.

The Angels lost the Astros series, but finished the home stand at a decent 4-2, to two teams better than the Angels. It’s a small win, but a win is a win.

Thanks O’Hoppe for the wonderful bday gift of a walk-off HR. I hope you make the AS game.

Not sure if its been posted elsewhere but The Athletic released their 2024 players poll. Mostly guys saying they think Ohtani is good but they did have a question that is Angels-relevant:

6. What organizations have bad reputations among players? (Multiple answers allowed)

  1. A’s
  2. White Sox
  3. Angels (14 votes out of 100)

On the Angels:
“(I’ve heard that they) treat their minor-leaguers like crap.”
“The organization is just run pretty poorly and pretty cheap.”
“General dysfunction.”
“Been there, done that, and I have never heard a good thing about them.”

If the Angels were a restaurant, they’d have perpetually dirty, run down, disgusting bathrooms. A wait staff that’s surly and bad at their job, been there 30 years plus. Dirty sticky tables and booths, entire restaurant is unchanged since 1979. People overdose in the bathroom, OSHA has a phone book thick file of complaints. And the shitty, pig headed, clueless old owner, is unbothered by the GRADE C: hanging in the window….Everyone is aware it’s a public risk and on verge of closure…….But, the food isn’t bad, and the food is priced cheap (Art’s willingness to have a top 10 payroll, his only redeeming thing).

I’m ordering the Big Breakfast, 2 pancakes, 3 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, toast and coffee, $5.99, not bad…….trying to get the attention of wait staff, I need napkins, a new fork (mine has an unidentified gray glob on it) and more coffee, she is out back leaning on the dumpster, having a smoke break, her name is Flo.

Zero surprised.

Look at the Spring Training facility. Worst in the Cactus League by quite a bit. Then you get to less video and scouting than other teams.

The minor league guys are even worse.
