LA Angels Tuesday News Crash: Overrated Or Worst

Jazz Chisholm Jr. got voted most overrated player by his peers. Anthony Rendon apparently came in second. Meanwhile, the Angels got voted the third worst team in terms of reputation by the players. Only the Athletics and White Sox were worse.

On the topic of Rendon, he thinks he is ahead of schedule in his recovery from the hamstring tear. Jose Suarez will start the game against the Diamondbacks today.

Major League Baseball is joining the White House in its fight against opioid overdoses.

Cavan Biggio was designated for assignment last Friday. Alex Bregman is day to day after being hit by an Angels pitcher over the weekend. Among starting pitchers, Tyler Anderson was called the second best trade option in the American League west, after Justin Verlander. Anderson is projected to be the lone Angels representative at the All Star Game.

The Pirates hired Jake Woodford to a minor league deal while the Reds signed Justus Sheffield, also to a minor league deal. Max Stassi underwent a season ending surgery. Once again it was his hip.

Former All Star catcher Hank Foiles passed away at the age of 94.

Against a struggling lefty? We should pound Monty tonight . (Which for us would be like scoring 3 runs

The Angels have signed IF Keston Hiura (UC Irvine) to a minor league deal and he will report to AAA Salt Lake.

Hiura was a former top prospect with the Brewers.

YES! Eat it, White Sox and A’s! You are even worsier than us!

-I see that JT Realmuto had to have knee surgery.
-You don’t say?
-Yea, I guess now they’ll have to replace him a Fake-muto (rimshot).

Be sure to tip the roast beef and try to waitresses.

I wonder how much of our Jose Suarez’s troubles are due to a lack of conditioning. He came into Tempe unable to pitch due to a dead arm. I knew he’d pitched in winter ball and figured it must have been a lot.

It was 19 innings.

So, either he was actually injured or he’s in such bad shape that 19 innings over the winter following 31 innings in 2023 was just too much for him.

it’s interesting that we’re going with Suarez to replace Detmers. Hopefully Suarez can go 5 decent innings

Ya, think? He’s a fat a$$. No baseball player should look like this. Yes, yes, there are outliers but, that’s why they are outliers. The exception to the rule proves the rule.

Interesting tidbit, there are actually two pitchers named Jose Suarez on bb-ref.

The original pitched a year in 1921 for the Cincinnati Cuban Stars.

Why isn’t Sanó pitching? He’s healthy enough.

What’s the over/under on the number of runs Suarez gives up before he records his first out?

Cowboy26

Sanó  did play in a rehab assignment last night in Arizona. He went 0 for 2 with a K and GIDP but then got pulled in the 5 inning but I’m not sure why .

Maybe he burned his Cho Cho again.

No word on his pitching exploits yet.

Cavan Biggio and Justus Sheffield. Two more can’t miss prospects that Arte somehow managed to fk up without even having them in the org.

Is it just me or would everyone else rather see Fulmer get a chance to start instead of Suarez? I don’t know if he is stretched out enough at this point though.

I’d rather see Gitcho than Suarez.

My fastballs down to about 65 MPH now probably, but I do elevate it in the zone, so there’s that. Is it a bad sign that I’ve lost 30 MPH on my fastball and my elbow hurts so much I consider having my arm removed after I throw a ball for a while? Or do I still have a chance?

Funny thing, last I checked I can still throw a fork ball and cutter…. so probably 50 MPH. Dominant shit. I won’t even try to throw a slider or curve now…. fear of my arm falling off. I can also still successfully throw a knuckle ball 50% of the time…. which was true when I was 18 as well. Threw 3 knuckle balls in a game in my life.

Knuckleball! Now we are talking. I’ll bet if you throw it decently you could work a scoreless inning of relief 2 nights a week for The Angels. Opposing batters going from 95 mph to a 37mph moving, hovering orb coming at them would screw them up.

Angels: Camden Minacci, RHP (No. 18)

A two-pitch reliever who saved 13 games for Wake Forest in 2023 to help him land in Round 6, Minacci seems to like getting the ball at the end of the game. He leads the High-A Northwest League with nine saves while posting a 2.95 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, .221 BAA and a 10.3 K/9 rate. Could a promotion up to Double-A be in his near future?

I’m sure some of that is being in the NW League, where young confidence goes to die, but we still may see him at the end of the year.

To answer the evergreen question of why I still go to games “and give Arte my money” ($8 ticket on GameTime and no concessions bought lol).

Went to Sunday’s game and it was an absolute highlight of the year for me. Few things in life beat seeing a walkoff HR by the future best power hitting catcher in baseball.

Love this stupid fucking (June) team. If we ever get good again, which for us at this point is watered down to achieving .500…. well, that’d be pretty dang fun. City/fans are still showing up to the Big A in droves.

We deserve a good team. At least O’Hoppe and Neto are a good start.

Happy belated bday to smithy too

Not to surprise you (or other CtPGers), but I decided to post. Quick question for you, Pineapple! I am still interested in going to Dodgers @ Angels on 9/3 and 9/4, and you are well aware of my reason. I just went to MLB site, and they are asking a lot of money. Is GameTime an app? Since this is going to be highly demanded game, I may still pay the price, but if anyone is interested in selling me a ticket face value, I would appreciate that. Also, please let me know which section I should consider because I would like to meet many CtPGers in person and say hello.

Shohei is doing well, and I am doing well in case you are wondering. I continue to believe CtPG is the BEST MLB fan site.

Thank you P12!

And to answer BannedinLA’s post yesterday, yes I’m an infant. I became an Angels fan in the 2002 WS run and never looked back. My first favorite Angel was Troy Glaus.

I really hope Logan heats up this month and gets included in the AS. That way he’ll join Tyler and the Angels won’t be one of those teams who just got in because of a participation mandate. He won’t make it thru fan votes, as he and the Angels are not popular enough, but hopefully his fellow players and coaches will vote him in. But that is only if he has #s so good you can’t and won’t be able to ignore.

Largely the same. I went on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend and just being at the ballpark with my wife and son was awesome. Three club level tickets for $27 out the door was too good to pass up.

We did hit the concessions fairly hard that day, but who can turn down a helmet sundae with your boy at the ballpark?

I will say this is by far the least amount of games I’ve attended and I can’t see that changing until Arte goes as I won’t be a partial ticket holder until he’s gone.

“We deserve a good team” why?

As apposed to who? I mean, there can only be a few good teams per year…. so who are the assholes who deserve a bad team? Doyers. Yankees. Boston. Seattle. And? How does a fan base earn a good team. Lowest carbon footprint? Hottest women? Most softest feelz?

It is a brilliant piece of strategy.

We know Suarez will give up runs. By allowing him to do so in the first couple of innings, we then have a good idea of how many runs we need to score to win.
