The Cardinals are in town. They break bats before they even make contact. Let’s throw them a few changeups and have all the fielders wear chest protectors. The Angels got their butts whipped by Seth Lugo yesterday.
Jered Weaver got his number retired by his alma mater.
Former Oakland slugger Khris Davis announced his retirement. He might be interested in continuing as a coach but is also interested in being an auto mechanic. Ex MLB outfielder Monte Harrison will play college football at Arkansas as a “preferred walk-on.”
Jung Hoo Lee dislocated his shoulder. They don’t know yet how bad it is, but it’s not good. In other injured Giants outfielder news, Michael Conforto has a hamstring strain.
Shohei Ohtani was pulled from a game over the weekend due to back tightness. The Dodgers are downplaying the seriousness of the situation. The drama about Ippei Mizuhara and gambling is being developed into a television series, if you can believe that.
The Cubs just activated Kyle Hendricks from their injured list. The Red Sox, in turn, activated Brayan Bello.
The Rangers just got swept by the Rockies. Woo hoo!
You shall see hot dogs fall from a clear sky!
Former MLB infielder and Little League World Series star Sean Burroughs just collapsed at his son’s little league game and died at the age of 43.

LOL! Not even one week has passed after saying Adell is not ready for the responsibility of hitting atop the lineup, Wash puts him at #2:
Schanuel 1B
Adell RF
Ward LF
Pillar CF
O’Hoppe C
Calhoun DH
Goodrum 3B
Neto 2B
Paris SS
On the other hand, kind of hard to blame Wash here. It’s either Adell or a bag of bats at the 2 spot.
Neto is playing 2B?
WTH? Is Paris a better defensive shortstop than Neto?
Frenchy is at 2nd. Neto is at SS on multiple sites that I see…..but I’m on the Angel Dark Web.
It was my mistake!!!!
Sorry my bad, switched when i copied!!!!
It’s not like Schanuel is lighting it up. There’s actually 3 people at the top of the line up whose names I recognize.
Who the hell is Goodrum? Don’t think I have ever heard of him.
Minasian waiver-wire trash
Cats and Dogs!!!
Free pass for his roid use and other things. Funny who and what they celebrate and who and what they demonize.

I hear exactly what you really saying and agree completely.
I’ll go with the guy represents a district with a lot of transplanted Dominican Republic people. No other reason for this.
You’re not implying that a politician would pander for votes, are you? 😀😊😀😊😂🤡
Probably a white rep too. Talk about the DR’s equivalent Breakfast Tacos.
So a roid cheat from Boston who hit a critical bomb to eliminate the NEW YORK Yankees is getting honored in New York?
What a crazy world.
California should issue a proclamation honoring AJ Pure****ski then
Lots of “anybody but the Skanks” in NY state. Near Cooperstown where I live the tv used to play Red Sox games through the 1990s.
Shoot, with the way Calhoun is going, we might get a top 100 prospect.
Kidding. But he has been a pleasant surprise.
I’d image if things continue we will end up trading Cimber, Garcia, Moore for sure, with maybe Esty, Drury, Calhoun, and Thaiss (Thaiss is a wild card to me)
Hmmm. At least Chad Wallach is a known quantity to bring up as a backup.
Not on the block: Adell, O’Hoppe, Detmers, Neto
On the block: everybody else
100% agree with this. Everyone but those four should be available in a trade.
I’m inclined to add Soriano to this list.
“Pitching in a 3-2 game in the seventh is still a lot of pressure and a high leverage situation. I just want to get him going, honestly. I just want him to get confident. I know he’s had kind of a rough week and just wanted to kind of change his look a little bit. This guy’s done a lot of really cool things for a long time and just trying to get him some confidence.”
Not Wash about Estevez but maybe it should be. This was Hyde talking about Kimbrel.
DFA SUAREZ
Dammit you got me thinking that was a real thing. You’re only allowed to use those two words together if you’re reporting something that has already happened!
Always a good idea.
Bro,
We’re sitting in the third position in the draft with a 16% chance of getting the top overall pick.
We need Suarez to pitch as many innings as possible.
And a team like SF or StL will end up with the 1st pick
Even if we had the first pick, do you trust the Angels “braintrust” to nab the right guy?
there are three good choices if we want a hitter. But yeah, the Trailblazers were sitting with the 4th worst record. Could they get to #1? No, they fell to #7. The worst, the Pistons, fell from #1 to #5 so that lottery is, no doubt, gonna screw us.
Finally playing another bad team. We have the opportunity for a series win.
😆😆😆😆😆😆
Finally playing another bad team. We have the opportunity for a series win.
-Cardinal Fan
Remember “Bum Fights” back in the day? That’s what this series is going to be.
To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go
They’re still a better bad team. Sometimes a record is deceiving, e.g., the Astros. Sometimes it’s not, e.g. us.
I like that “a better bad team”.
There’s worse/worsier/worst. I think we are worsier than StL.
The Q is: how did we manage to be worsier than OAK? Took some doing.
By which I mean undoing.
MLB Power Rankings
How are we 26th? It’s a miracle. Or did the MLB teams fold without me knowing it?
26. Angels (previously: 27)
Season high: 24 | Season low: 27
This June, it will be seven years since the Angels took Jo Adell in the first round of the 2017 MLB Draft, with the vision that someday he’d be sharing an All-Star outfield with Mike Trout. Alas, that’s not happening right now, but it should be noted that this is the best Adell has been. His seven homers are already just one short of his career high, and he has seven steals. Anybody else think he’s going to be the Angels’ All-Star rep this year?
We’ll likely end up with a token selection for the All-Star game – maybe Cimber?
As for the ranking, 26th or 27th sounds right given the White Sox and Marlins are even worsier than us…..so far.
I made the mistake of going down the Angels prospect rabbit trail online and read the evaluations. What really stood out is that the majority of their top 30 prospects are struggling badly. It doesn’t appear that help is on the way anytime soon.
I did notice that Paris earned his promotion to the show with a .090 batting average in AA.
Yes, when grading out the prospects this year it seems to be the least worse of the group stands out.
As for Paris – he’s been on the farm since 2019. Yes, he’s only 22 years old – but his career MiLB slash are a horrendous .234/.363/.382. Unfortunately for him (and the fans) there’s already 3 or 4 “Kyren Paris type” players on the MLB roster.
I guess none of us wanted to see Paris in the summer…….
Pulling this straight out of my arse.
Fingers crossed that there has been enough of a change in our organizational philosophy (both hitting and pitching) that we are in an adjustment period? And later this year and hopefully next, some guys will come around with the new “Angel way”. And they will be better for it.
Probably dumb of me. First to think that this is that much different than our past, or that they can pull off a fundamental change. And deep down we have a collection of D level prospects and that a below average number of them will never become productive MLBers.
THE FIRST RULE OF ANGEL WAY IS NO ONE CRTIQUES ANGEL WAY!
Years ago Delta had a slogan “Delta Gets You There!” and then they had a series of accidents and SNL said it was “Delta Gets You There?”
Same thing with The Angel Way?
I remember that. David Letterman mocked them too. 😀
Angels need to do a commercial like this, show us how much they care. Or maybe modify another Delta slogan “We Love to
FlySUCK and It Shows”https://youtu.be/bBm1YEO4Q_Q?si=exQukXY-YRWoKGmN
The Angel Way training video for team baggage handlers.

Do you remember that commercial with the gorilla? I think it was Samsonite.
Actually American Tourister.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5sEIWlQO7A
That’s the main problem, isn’t it? That’s why Perry has to go dumpster diving. And it’s not like the Angels are the only one doing it. Most of the daily news crash here on CtPG are about waiver wire pickups, DFAs, outrights, players on the IL etc. of other teams. The problem is that for the other teams, these bargain bins will most likely just be temporary for them, because they do have promising prospects coming up, who may just need some time to marinate. But they’re coming eventually.
The Angels are just not in such position. They have no promising prospects coming up. We already have them on the major league roster – Neto, Schnauel, O’Hoppe. I guess Rada and Dana can be considered promising, but they still need a lot of time in the minors, and there’s no need to rush them at this point.
I miss the time when the Angels have clear succession plans. Adam Kennedy turned into HK, OC turned in Aybar, Casey turned into Kendrys (that’s why it was ok for UHaul to go away). When Kendrys went down, an unknown Trumbo was plucked from the minors. Heck, even on those positions that didn’t work out, there was a plan in place (Troy > Dallas > Brandon, Bengie/Jose > Mathis). There’s no such thing to look forward to the way this team is constructed.
The problem remains that the farm has had zero depth for 10+ years. This is why there is not enough hopium in the universe for me to be optimistic about the future until there is a change in ownership. Yes, new ownership could be the same or worse than the old ownership, but the probability of someone making a multi-billion dollar investment only to drive it into the ground is low.
I have no empathy for the Angels or anyone that CHOOSES to be an employee of Arte Moreno. You know what you signed up for when accepting employment from him, so no forgiveness or grace.
You have got that right. There’s is no reason Minasian deserves a pass at this point. With few exceptions, his choices generally suck.
This seems like an oversimplified argument that keeps coming up over and over and over, so I guess it is just fine that it is the way some on this forum will always see things.
What’s the counter point to the argument?
I didn’t even bother getting into that.
What I see is that there’s a post like “Perry deserves no free pass, he is responsible for all the bad decisions that have happened.”
Then there are some back and forth postings.
Then 1 or 2 or X days later:
“Perry deserves no free pass, he is responsible for all the bad decisions that have happened.”

I saw this today and figured who cares anymore… there is no point to responding to posts like this.
I don’t feel like you actually addressed the Senator’s point. And if you don’t care, you don’t have to respond. I do care and I agree with him.
Yep, there’s nothing wrong with you agreeing with him.
Basically, I started to come up with my response to start writing, and immediately felt like I was stuck in the Groundhog Day movie. I’ve seen this so many times. So I realized I didn’t want to do it again, as doing it over and over made me no longer care about doing it again. It isn’t that I didn’t care about the subject, I just didn’t want to type out the exact same response again. That’s all. And I don’t think it is unfair for me to respond with that.
As far as actually addressing his point…. my point is that I have many times.
And I think you might have misinterpreted my “who cares”… I was starting to formulate my response, and when I realized what was happening, I thought “who cares about me responding”, I shouldn’t bother.
Didn’t mean to imply who cares to his post.
Dude. It’s May. It’s CtPG. Arte is still alive. So are daddy issues.
By September there’s literally going to be the same fourteen people on here competing to see whose face can look more like a baboon’s ass as they blather THE SAME OLD SHIT again and again.
“Let me tell you why Perry doesn’t deserve a free pass also Arte deckchairs TrAdition and the egos Buttercup because so stupid and in game decisions martinets.”
“NO! Let ME tell YOU why Perry doesn’t deserve a free pass also Arte martinets deckchairs TrAdition and the egos Buttercup because so stupid and in game decisions….”
“RENDONE!”
“BUT really it’s Perry doesn’t deserve a free pass also Arte deckchairs TrAdition and the egos Buttercup because so stupid, martinets and in game decisions…. I miss Weaver’s musk”
And bro, you better not try to find anything to like about any of this. Nary a block to build on my friend. And no ideas either. Just Arte + gone = Magic fix things. The only plan allowed is something only one man can plan for and that’s dad, I mean Arte.
Worse and worse till we figure out what the actual nutritional value of bitterness is.
But, on the bright side, if Arte keeps not signing players and drops payroll more then all the people who have bitched about a horrible team with a cheap owner will finally actually have all of that. That’s something.
Does it bother anyone else that most “major league” hitters are totally unable to get a decent bunt down? Or that way too many relief pitchers are unable to come out of the pen and throw strikes? Screw velo and spin, just throw a damn strike low and see what happens! End of today’s rant.
I think it ends up being ohoppe
Oh the pain that a Halo fan must endure…..
Transfer the pain to Arte – don’t give him a penny. The only way to get through to him is via the wallet. Otherwise, he’ll keep on keeping on.
I haven’t been at the park for about two years now and I have worked just down the street for those last two years.
He’s not getting a penny from me.
Nune from me. Haven’t bought a ticket in forever and haven’t been in a couple.
Okay, I need to know where I can go to have hot dogs parachute down from the skies!!!! Do they come with mustard packets, or do I need to provide my own?
&ct=g
I will run around that stadium with a giant butterfly net capturing those floating delicacies!!!’
Some stupid study claims that eating hot dogs takes 30 minutes off of your life….each of them😀
First of all that’s bullshit, and if it isn’t, after watching that, I’m taking an hour off my life today for lunch!
HOT DOGS FROM HEAVEN!
FREE HDFH
FREE CTPG
That would mean I would have dies before I was born!
Ever seen the comment from Sandoval the hot dogs are gross.
A while back FSW did a survey of players favorite condiments.
That’s now the #1 reason to not like that guy….#2 is the way he pitches.
More Hot Dogs = More Strikes
Make a bumper sticker or T-shirt.
Maybe he sucks as a MLB pitcher because he does not eat hot dogs?
We need Oscar Meyer as the pitching coach.
HEY!
Battle of Hot Dog vs Spartanburgers…who wins this? I say it’s a draw 1-1!

The 1974 Angels (50th Anniversary year this season) were basically at .500 at this point in the season and they lost 94 games. Those early 70s teams were mediocre for sure. But I remember watching the Ryan No-No on the last day of that 1974 season with my dad behind home plate, scoring the game, and that’s really all I remember about that poor season. So look for bright spots.
You can probably sit behind home plate again tonight for peanuts. Don’t see anyone buying tickets to watch our lineup or lousy Cardinals on a Monday night. Stubhub freebie game !
Don’t give Arte your money!
Her QB rating wasn’t that high in her rookie season.
Was that jersey in response to that horrible….I repeat HORRIBLE orange abomination jerseys that the Bucs had in the 80s?
Redskins. Pretty sure that’s Doug Williams in the back.
TB creamsicle jerseys are back “in”
What ? The “Creamsicles” were fantastic !!
Logged in just to thumbs up this comment
The “Creamsicles” playing at the “Sombrero”.
Ah, those were the days.
You know, I don’t get this POV. Baseball teams appreciate at a level that is broken within capitalism. Our single-game dollars are likely not even in the equation. If someone enjoys going to see this shit-show of a team, I say go for it. Enjoy what you can in this life.
Thinking that $80 makes or breaks an owner of a fucking MLB team shows a major lack of understanding re: MLB. Shoot, they don’t even publish accurate attendance totals anymore…it matters zero if you do or do not attend a game here or there.
Now, season tickets, I agree. But one off games? Puh-leaze.
$2/ticket seats available again tonight.
We sat behind the plate a lot in the early 70’s. Ryan’s no-no was his 40th start that year. Still have my scorecard from that game, I always thought I would have him sign it. No wait service in your seat in those days, you had to walk up to get an awful Canteen hot dog. Marathon games against the A’s when they were actually good. And Mickey Rivers on the last home game of 71 (I think) falling down short of home while trying for some stupid Guiness record for rounding the bases.
Jo placed up 8th in this article about bat speed leaders in 2024.
https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-bat-speed-leaders-for-2024
But to make that sound more impressive, say he is 3rd in the American League.
