It was back to reality with the Angels as they ran smack into a wall known as Baltimore. Despite winning yesterday, the team today is the Angels team we are now getting used to making winnable games unwinnable usually thanks to one player making a mistake or 3 leaving us going could’a would’a should’a.
Tyler Anderson did… fine. He went 5 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, striking out 7 and walking 4. The inning length is less than ideal, especially because today was a Suarez day. Yep. You read the title. Jose Suarez pitched today.
Highlighted Recap
Things were scoreless until the 3rd, when the O’s hit a HR.
Sano was able to keep it from getting worse with a great stop.
But another run was given up in the 5th by Anderson.
This game was close, manageable, all the bullpen had to do was not give up a ton and here comes Suarez in the 6th!
Well, that was only 1 run, 3-0 is still manageable
Of course. Well, maybe the bleeding can stop, hey, a double play! That scores a run…
Is there anything good from this team today? How about an Adell Catch?
What about batting? To the Angels’ credit, they tried to come back, scoring 1 in the 6th thanks to MIKE TROUT!
And 2 more thanks to TAYLOR “BLAKE” WARD!
This would be a game now if it wasn’t for Suarez! Too bad he did pitch. Still, Neto did not give up and hit one of his own in the 8th.
Ehire Adrianza singled and got to 3rd on a really weird error. He then was driven in by a Logan groundout.
Too bad it was not enough, yet another Angels loss on an Adell caught stealing. Sigh. HE WAS SAFE. F YOU NY! BOO!
Angels lose. Yet another time when the Angels followed a win with a loss. They have not won 2 in a row since sweeping the Marlins. At least no more Baltimore for the rest of the year.
Upcoming

“Harvey Weinstein’s Sex Crimes Conviction Overturned by New York Appeals Court.”
Boy, New York was really going all the way yesterday.
Too bad R. Kelly didn’t get convicted in New York.
Suarez……oh Suarez…..
On an unrelated note, at least the Kings won, 5-4 in OT. Series tied at 1.
Some joy in Mudville.
Bye the bye, Jojo’s slash-316/372/925. That’s kinda good, here’s to hopping Warsh rides that hot hand for a bit.
SSS for sure 6/12 the last few days, only 32ish at bats thus far
16 Ks. Jeez, didn’t see the game until 3-2 on Jordon Adell in the 9th, the walk and then the steal attempt. Having seen replays for what, 5 years, I knew this one was not going the ‘Halo Way’.
LOL @ “Jordon.”
You know if that call happened to the home team in New York ( I said if because MLB would never do let it stand there) they would have had to bring out the horses and police in riot gear.
The league got off easy . if we had an owner who was a bold bad ass he wouldn’t put up with this shit either.
FWIW, I find Wash’s responses to be refreshingly direct & honest.
The typical spew many words & say nothing of value responses from most people make me want to vomit. Wash is honest.
More bullshit from NY
Wash just basically admitted Suarez is his dumpster fire option in the bullpen:
This translates to: You can’t chase wins every night.
It’s required to dump on Phil, but within context, what Phil said was correct.
Tactical retreats based on circumstances (tired BP, upcoming schedule, etc) are relevant considerations.
I’ve never seen a manager talk about his players like this. It’s refreshing.
I think Wash is in the “Fuck it, I’m an old ass man and this is my last job. Let’s be honest for once”, mindset.
I love this shit. A lot.
Like a politician not running for reelection. I dig It.
Yup. And being direct beats fruit. He all but said that Trout needed to locate
his balls after the Monday night strike out.
The he immediately challenges Trout the next day to leadoff. Result: 2 homers over 2 games. Trout deserves better on BABIP. Anyway, Wash is pushing the right buttons IMO.
No surprise. Wash was looking for someone that could pitch 3-4 innings and hopefully go well enough to give the team a chance to come back. Suarez poured gas on a fire instead.
There is truth to the belief that teams with losing records are less likely to get the benefit of the doubt by umpires. The Orioles are the sexy choice in MLB; the Angels remain the laughable losers
The real issue IMO is the “definitively determined” phraseology. It’s very slippery and prone to interpretation, personality type & world view.
A better guideline would be:
What % of the video is on the safe side vs. out side? Then come to a conclusion based on that and common sense.
Adell was safe. And I’m definitely biased.
They claim the technology they have shows all the angels available, blown up and synced all on one screen. And does show shit in way we can’t see, and I believe that.
The bigger problem I have is the philosophical BS of giving what was called on the field 1 ounce of importance. Once a review is requested, it should completely become a new call. What was called shouldn’t matter at all. And I’m going to recommend MLB give a refresher course on TIE GOES TO THE RUNNER-101.
Seems like the Umps are starting to lean to “tie is an out”. 100% they need to Trust the reviewers eyes and what they see (with their technology) over the field umps in real time.
This is saying nothing about how we do get screwed more times than not.
We agree here. I think?
This was my point about common sense and thank you for mentioning “tie goes to the runner”, which is a First Principle.
Except MLB isn’t a Little League or Sandlot: Tie goes to the runner is a popular and inaccurate interpretation of the rule.
‘The wording of rule 5.09(a)(10), formerly 6.05(j), of the Official Baseball Rules is that a batter is out when “After a third strike or after he hits a fair ball, he or first base is tagged before he touches first base”. Therefore, if the runner or first base is not tagged before he touches first base, he is safe.’
Didn’t know this…might need to argue this in front of the Supreme Court.
On a philosophical note, this wording is implying that there’s no possible way to tie at a base? One must be out or safe? Which means they guess at ties? Ties happen all the time. They normally seem to favor ties as being safe for the runner, or so I thought. Or maybe it’s more like the strike zone, which has an acceptable slight difference between umps.
But your baseball biblical doctrine right in front of me makes me question all of that….next thing you’re going to tell me is that Santa Clause doesn’t exist, thanks.
100% true. It’s easy to shit on a league doormat, it’s part of being bad.
Twins are most like us of any team we’ve played. It could be our first series win other than the Marlins.
We seriously don’t talk enough about how baseball is a bad game run by bad people who literally just want to make me suffer, personally.
“Yeah yeah, let the call stand, just to fck with Rick, that asshole”
What a seriously freaking baloney call. I’m glad Wayne didn’t hold back punches and danced around it. I could tell he was one 7-second delay from actually saying BS or the F-bomb on air.
Why didn’t Wash go apeshit on the 2B umpire?! This is the time to unleash it, Wash!
Adell in scoring position is a difference maker. Luis may be a 10-cent head in defense, but he does get the big hits from time to time.
Good to see the team almost come back from a 6-0 deficit. But hopefully this is a lesson on why you can’t use your dumpster fire option in the bullpen when the game is still close. Even when losing 10-0, I would rather use Sano than Suarez.
$25 Eppei Bucks bet that he was on the phone with the league after the game, CHEWING OUT SOME ASS and keeping it inside.
….and or, using it as a good old fashioned “us against NY” motivational
TEDTALKWASHTALK.Free us!
closer than I thought. Probably safe. Angles didn’t help.
The Angels fought back which is very good. Suarez lost this game. Hoping he will be DFA’d.
I still can’t believe that they didn’t jettison him along with Barria. He has no business taking up a roster spot.
They didn’t quit today, I’ll take that effort. Lost 2-3 to one of the best teams in baseball. Showed some Grit.
Whoever will be replacing Suarez, probably not a huge difference, but would be better than that POS.
Note to league, once Jo figures out this base stealing thing, watch out, fair warning….Embarrassing how safe he was, NY are clowns.
Free Jo
Dont forget Tucky D baby.
He deserves to be promoted to Oakland.
luckily Houston is playing very bad ball and Texas is off to a mediocre start…and Seattle will crash.
DFA SUAREZ SORRY ASS.
Keep grinding- I believe in this team more than I did a week ago. O’s may AL’s best team and we just about split the season series
Yes I’m very angry about this game but gotta turn the page.
I maybe one of Suarez’s biggest fans because he’s a good dude, but I’d outright him and hope he passes through waivers and ends up in SLC.
Who would claim him? Honestly.
No one at this point.
Jerry….stupid ass Jerry always likes to f with us.
Eat it Jerry!
I hope he does. Otherwise he will end up in SLC and we are one injury away from having him back on the roster.
He was Jerry’s & Scott Cervix turd to begin with . Let the reunion begin
Good stuff.
Rational takes are verboten here. Off with your head.
I am currently seeing red. Just disgraceful.
Not Jo’s fault at all.
Great day at the park. Glad they made it a game, Adell on the bases won’t get the benefit of the doubt unfortunately. Suarez isn’t good, home runs by Trout, Ward and Neto were awesome
You goin’ this Saturday?
See you there!!
cool.
