There’s a serious battle between the sugar high of the multitude of pies vs. the tryptophan of the turkey taking place inside my body right now so please pardon any errors. It was a great day with family, including a cousin I hadn’t seen in years.
Now onto the baseball…
If we’re looking for a Black Friday deal on my free agent crush Yamamoto, that doesn’t seem likely. Roughly half the league has checked in on him. His agent says it is the most interest he’s ever seen in a player.
You know what would probably help out our pitching staff? A defensive wiz of a catcher. And the Twins are shopping one.
We haven’t talked about it much, but Max Stassi plays a pretty big role in this year’s shopping. He hasn’t played in over a year and was horrid with the bat in 2022. He hasn’t looked nearly the same since his concussion in 2021. If he retires, that’s more money to spend. If he comes back then the out of options Thaiss could be on the move. If Stassi comes back and can’t hit in Tempe he might be the latest in a string of players Arte has paid to stay at home.
I know I’ve missed a ton so please link what I’ve missed. I’m off to wash my son. I let him feed all the horses, get all the dirt on him, and eat all the pumpkin pie today. He washes, but memories last a lifetime.
You’ll be reading this on Friday, but again Thanks to all of you. And enjoy some leftovers.
As I just said on the Thursday crash, that’s OK because the sin of pi is always 0.
That’s definitely Humbling
The psychic says Shohei will be back…and she’s been right before.

Perry should get Arte to hire her as an our new Director of Advanced Scouting. Maybe then we wouldn’t be making anymore Lucas Giolito trades or lamo free agent signings.
I’m good with that
When she tells me what the winning “Mega-Millions” numbers are before the drawing, I’ll believe. Until then her prediction just gets added to the fodder from everyone else that has a guess.
I love that video with his dog.
Angels already have a catcher or three. Unless something truly inventive happens, they cannot be spending more money and assets on catcher. They have too many other holes to fill. Get some pitchers please Perry. And one hitter who can work the count, drive in runs, and stay healthy.
Pero Yo Quero uno mas receptor
They have O’Hoppe and his strong point is not defense. Stassi? Meh. And I guess Thaiss? Not really anyone else with Quero gone.
I’m one that really thinks a well called game and a little framing goes a long way with a pitching staff.
Vasquez is renown behind the plate and would be an ideal example for O’Hoppe for two years.
If Stassi retires, it would only be a $2 or $3 million delta.
You’re not the only one Jeff. As I believe the right catcher can add a huge Premium to the Angels pitching staff and our young Phenom.
Unfortunately , I doubt the Angels will have any clarity on the Stassi situation until mid spring training at the earliest .I just dont see the timing on a Vasquez acquisition working out
Jeff, it’s fine to believe a defensive catcher has value. With this roster and a starting catcher already in the fold, the notion is they cannot TRADE for another catcher. That’s using other capital to bring in the player plus dollars while paying money to cut ties with Stassi, ending things with Thaiss, etc. It’s not good value for this team at this time IMHO when so many other needs exist. Coaching up guys is also another remedy.
Something about the word ‘horrid’ is always funny to me.
I’m up early because I fell asleep early after finishing a bottle of Dewers with a relative last night – haha.
Back to baseball – I’d prefer that Stassi moved on at this point.
Have the Angels made ANY personnel moves?
We signed that one dude to a minor league contract….
