LA Angels Monday News Crash: Rendon-Don-Don

MLB continues to investigate the video of Anthony Rendon grabbing the fan on Thursday. They must have gotten some good DoorDash or something. What’s to investigate? Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani launched a couple of satellites back to back on Sunday. Was Rengifo hit or not? Logan O’Hoppe chipped in.

Bryce Harper continues to hang around and act like he’s about to play. Jeff Bagwell got a new job title without necessarily getting any new duties. I’d do that if I could. My new title would be McLovin of course.

Joey Bart is now on the 10 day IL as is Corey Dickerson. The Phillies signed Jeff Hoffman to a minor league deal.

Watch the Dodgers lose ignominiously.

My legs felt like a ghost.” I’m pretty sure I’ve been there before, but not while I was pitching. Speaking of ghosts, I guess ghosts can cause you to chuck your bat toward the stands.

Why would you start Lamb at 1st instead of Drury and put Fletch at 2B.

Fletch deserves the start.

Mildly early depth test with Walsh on the 15 day and Rendon suspended for getting into it with an Oakland idiot.

Arte and his 830am decisions are meaningless. Dude doesn’t even send his radio pxp guys on the road. Arte just wants his Eddie Gorme and Steve Lawrence around telling him he’s the “greatest”. Rodger Lodge is a joke but he fits the mold. This is not about anything other than marketing.

I won’t listen to 830am anymore. Not even on my drive home from the ballpark. Again, all we can do is vote with our wallets.

Grabbing loudmouthed asshole A’ss fan…. four games and some money.

Watching said A’ss fans sense of “I can say what ever I want” invincibility leak out his pee hole when he realizes he’s not online right now…. priceless.

Four games in early April. If we can’t survive that we were gonna suck anyways. And then Ohtani will leave me. Oh no. What should I do? Do these Dickies work pants make me look fat?

That’s definitely a chunk of change he’s gonna lose in game checks. But he still won’t feel it.

They also apparently had a phone call and apologized to each other.

He’ll be back for game 2 of the blue jays series.

No big deal, really.

CBS sports reporting that he is indeed appealing:

The Angels will begin their second series of the year, in Seattle against the Mariners, on Monday night. Since Rendon is appealing, his suspension will be delayed until he can have a hearing with MLB and a verdict can be issued.

Hey Arte and your sycophants Carpino and Kuhl.

You have to earn positivity. Blum and Fletcher are very good reporters and fair in their criticism. If the team performs well and the organization turns things around, they will be plenty positive.

This is censorship pure and simple.

Why do you all keep doing dumb shot things?!

gitchogritchoffmypettis

“Did you hear something?”

“Nah. well. Maybe. Like a mouse noise? It’s kinda hard to hear over all this wind in my head.”

“Ah man, head wind. That’s worse than when my Red Sox hat gets caught in my car’s visor and I can’t get out and my CD of Warrant’s Cherry Pie keeps skipping but I can’t reach the stereo and I forget what I was gonna do to President at baseball today.”

“We should go find a car dealership to hang out at.”

Yes!”

Carpino/Kuhl when F71’s “censorship” rage message arrives.

They can’t censor these reporters. All they can do is not invite them to talk on their radio sleep over hour…. and apparently just play Golden Eye with each other and Roger Lodge while the hard core grizzle dicked reporters go talk shit about them.

Given what’s at stake here, has there ever been anything easier to not care about?

Looks as if there is trouble brewing on the media side of things:

For what it’s worth:

I was informed by AM830 (Angels team-owned radio network) that I’m no longer welcomed back on the their “Beat Reporter Roundtable” program because I bring “negativity” to an “up-beat show.”

I was told the decision was made by team president John Carpino.

I’m with you that no one cares about listening to AM830. And that’s in large part of the dying radio market and mismanagement of Arte, Carpino, Kuhl and the rest of the marketing geniuses. This shouldn’t even be a big deal on who’s on the round table or not. It’s not as if social media doesn’t exist where the large majority of the population gets their media at now.

Fletcher made a great point in our interview. Arte’s circle isn’t made up of hard core fans. Nor does he really care about/appreciate us.

Arte’s inner circle keeps him insulated from the truth. Hence the “vocal minority” comment about the folks who wanted him to sell.

Arte is all about marketing to the casual fan. The type who comes to a few games per year. The type of fan who doesn’t follow a lot online and probably tunes in for a few games and brushes up on the team before they come to the ballpark.

Arte doesn’t want that fan hearing the truth from Sam Blum.

Exactly. Does anyone need a round table? Does anyone listen to home team sports radio now days (not just the angels)? Can’t these reporters just go start their own weekly Podcast called “Fallen Angels” or something so that people can continue not giving a shit? Is there Angels news out there that people are missing for lack of a round table? WTF does Carpino think they are gonna talk about on this show? How wonderful he is? Well, the team does own the network and they have the prerogative. I don’t like it, for sure.

If one would listen to Padre FM sports shows (97.3 FM) or Podcasts, those guys hold no punches criticizing and yet Seidler, Preller and Melvin appear on the show. 97.3 also carries the Padre games. I guess the difference might be is that the team does not own the network.

Many of us were rooting for Mike Trout to hit for the cycle yesterday, but even if he had hit a triple in his last AB, it wouldn’t have been as impressive as the second cycle Jim Fregosi had as an Angel.

Fregosi’s second cycle came on 5/20/68, just one day after 15 people died in Cairo when thousands of people crushed together trying to get a glimpse of the apparition of Mary that had been appearing at night on the roof of Saint Mary’s Coptic Church.

It was a Monday night game at Anaheim Stadium against the Red Sox. When the bottom of the eleventh inning started, the game was tied 4-4 and Fregosi was just a single away from his cycle. He was due up fifth.

Bob/Buck Rodgers led off with a single and was sacrificed over to second by Bobby Knoop. The next batter was intentionally walked. Paul Schaal hit an unproductive fly ball to Yastrzemski in left field for the second out.

That brought up Fregosi with two outs. He hit a ball that fell onto the grass in left field for a single that scored the runner from second (a pinch runner for Rodgers) and won the game for the Angels.

I wonder if Fregosi’s hit would have been a double or triple, but was ruled merely a single because first base was as far as Fregosi could get before the run scored and ended the game.

One thing I’m sure of is that the Angel players didn’t celebrate the walk-off by chasing Fregosi all over the field so they could rip his clothes off.

Yes.

I looked at the opening road trip as one that needed to end 4-2 to be considered successful.

Oakland has played us tough my entire life. Good year, bad year, it doesn’t seem to matter. We should’ve swept them, but a series win there followed by a series win in Seattle will mean a good road trip.

NEWS CONCUSSION!:

Shohei Ohtani was the first pitcher hitter from Japan to pitch a game with ten or more strike outs AND hit a home run in the same series against a team in it’s home ballpark where the grass is green while wearing two socks, one of which is pulled up a little higher than the other while ALSO having a banana in his locker! REACT! HOW CAN THE ANGELS WASTE THIS! HE SHOULD BE A YANKSOX!

I also just want to warn you so you can gird your loins and maybe be a man about it, both Tepera and Loup are going to pitch again this season. So are Estevez and Moore. Try not to use your sad donkey shit juju powers to wish the Angels into a lost season before May 1st so that you can single finger type out “I knew it” posts that no one cares about.

You also may see Phillips play in the next few days. Typy tap tap poke poke hurr derr. Why not try the power of big picture positive thinking instead of giving that saggy face of yours another frown line?

Also, Rendon’s still gonna be on the team all year and the ladies dig him. You can’t stop nature.

Also, Tucky D, Sandy and Mr Anderson. Failed prospects Taylor Ward and Logan O’Hoppe.

And Corgi puppies.

Smile. Life’s not half bad.

Get this take while it’s hot — Ohtani wins his second MVP this year and finishes top three in Cy Young voting.

Pair this up with Japan’s win over Team USA in the WBC, and Ohtani feels like he has conquered American baseball. Therefore, instead of signing with an MLB team this coming off-season, he signs with a Japanese team.

His new mission? To spearhead an effort to make Nippon Professional Baseball the world’s premiere baseball league.

Understandable. I’m hanging on for a few more months. I think the suspension could be over 25 games, assuming we have most of the facts.
If we are winning games, that will keep the natives happy, buy him some time to get things going……he looked very good during spring training. If healthy that can be a sign of Tony 2 Bags return. I’m buying more stock on the cheap.

It was such a half assed swing. No power, aim, or real intent to land. If Rendon really wanted to hit him, he’d have done so while still holding him with the other hand.

But the optics are horrible and this is a far different era than Belle.

I’m saying 10 games reduced to 5 or 7 on appeal.

I think 25 games is too much. There was an attempt, but he didn’t hurt the guy. And if he really wanted to hurt the guy, he could have had. The swipe at him was to scare more than actually hurt him.

I’m thinking 5-10 games, with a hefty fine. Which may very well be good if he really banged up his knee. No IL time while he recovers.

I mean, I’d get it if there was some sort of “social hoe” score where if enough fans “give up” on a player then a team can void his contract, but that’s just CtPG Guy’s sticky dream.

Do I believe in Rendon? Who gives a shit? And if you do give a shit, why? What, do you need me to join the Heathers or else? Rendon can be good. He may not be good. My life’s gonna be the same, the Angels will also be what they will be.

Unless he really is injured instead of just having a boo boo he will probably be fairly good since, when he’s not hurt, he tends to be fairly good. Or he won’t.

It’s better to spend Monday morning bemoaning 50 seconds of Rendon than it is focusing on 50 seconds of Trout Ohtani blasts back back majesty

You’re beginning to understand this CTPG guy.

For me, it’s Rendon, Gramps, then Hamilton.

I means what’s 25 million worth in todays world. But it was $125,000,000

Wasn’t just about the money ; it was the negative pub for the organization, the lack of effort, and the flailing hopelessly at pitches in the playoffs when he was batting in the middle of the order …

No matter what it won’t be worse than Hambone.
