Angels at Yankees Doubleheader Game 2 Thread

Lou Gehrig Day in the Bronx. He was a great player and a great man. The disease named after him is cruel and unforgiving. Hopefully funds raised today can help families in the future.

6 1/2 back and 2 games away from 3rd place if Texas hadn’t lost 2 straight..

This team needs help. Now the mental aspect has crept in having dropped 8 straight..

Blowpen strikes again, heart break in the Southland again. This loss pretty much sucks, yup, it does suck.

Great job by Minasian to plug the hole.

It was Joe who chose Bradley.

yea but if you aren’t going to go to Iglesias there, then I don’t see Bradley as necessarily the worst choice? Who has been pitching well down there right now that hadn’t already pitched today?

Just so I’m sure, who are the reliable options in his bullpen?

Iggy? This is why he makes the big bucks.

He’s a one inning guy who does best with a clean inning.

he had plenty of 4 and 5 out saves last year. I remember one in particular I think was 6 outs where he came in and cleared a bases loaded jam with nobody out. I think an exception should have been made here with a 7 game losing streak. But again maybe he wasn’t feeling well?

I think he pitched worse when he was overused. He’s been in a slump recently.

Joe is only using what he has to work with. When you have crap to work with, expect crap results.

Bradley should be looking for a new gig somewhere.

GA does not want the full time gig, Salmon is happy in Arizona. Bobby V. knows his stuff and is not a Debbie Downer at all.

Bobby Valentine is mother Teresa compared to people that have been in the Angels organization under Arte’s watch. Mickey Calloway……. Eric Kay……. Matt Harvey…… yet Arte’s college friends are still sitting pretty with no accountability. F You Arte.

Yep, I get tired of hearing it. Scioscia used that phrase all the time and now Trout does.

Scioscia was a cancer that will take a long time to recover from. No sense of urgency from anyone on this team…….

Scioscia was very fiery the first few years of his managerial career. After about 2010 he would just sit there and stare out onto the field. Hardly ever challenging a decision. I don’t know what happened to him.

I lost respect for Scioscia the day he suspended Jose Guillen for literally being the only one on the team that gave a shit.

Was that Scioscia or Moreno? From what I recall Guillen was doing drugs and they suspended him. I think that was on Moreno.

What I remember was Guillen got suspended because he legit went ballistic on the field for Scioscia pinch running for him with a guy that wasn’t even a burner when Guillen was the only guy on the team hitting. It was a horrible decision by Scioscia and Guillen understandably was frustrated by it. I do not remember anything about drugs causing the suspension.

Maybe that is what happened. It has been so long since it happened. Sometimes I can’t remember what I had for lunch today.

Yep and I remember there being some sort of altercation the next season when Guillen went to the Nats and they were playing the Angels.

It was a dumb move by Scioscia to pinch run for him in that game but Guillen had a temper and took offense to it and I really don’t blame him for getting upset. Sucks because Guillen was one of our better hitters that season.

Somewhere I did an analysis of this, but 2004 was a tight race, and while Guillen had a strong first half, he was straight ass the second part of the year, and was just brutal down the stretch. .606 OPS in September. Curtis Pride came in and had a huge game in a nailbiter against Texas. Also, the decision to run for Guillen helped win that game, and the Angels went 6-2 in the games after he was suspended. Not only was it the right thing to do, it helped them win the division.

Only scored 3 runs this entire series. Something needs to be done to the offense as well. Really no guy in that clubhouse who can fire this team up.

No accident: Holmes HBP Trout and Walsh to get to Rengifo.

Of course, they find a way to lose. Game was lost in the 8th with another Joe Maddon bad usage of the Bullpen

game was lost with Arte making roster decisions instead of a GM, leaving little room for depth pieces. Also with a GM that is only a GM because Arte is the owner and no legit GM wants to work for him. Horrible bullpen put together by PTP, when that is what he went after with the money he had.

6-14 in games he appears in. His fielding and decision making are awful, but yea he has been somewhat hitting at a .275 clip.

and what is the bullpens ERA in games he has played in? I think that’s a bigger problem. If our relievers were doing their job like Rengifo was doing his I think we’d be doing a lot better.
