Angels nearly perfecto’d as skid hits 8 games

Angels 1 Yankees 2

Highlights? Not many unless you are a Yankees fan or Matt Vasgergian.

Jameson Taillon took his perfect game bid into the 8th where it was broken up by Jared Walsh. Walsh was later plated by Kurt Suzuki who drove in the first run of the game.

Reid Detmers scoreless start was for naught. Herget, Loup, and Tepera also all held the Yankees scoreless. But recent stud Ortega? That’s where it unraveled.

Ohtani, Trout, and Walsh all threatened in the 9th with a walk and back to back hit by pitches. In the end, it wasn’t enough – nor were the Angels meager 2 hits.

The Angels take their 8 game slide into Philly tomorrow with hopes of righting this quickly sinking ship.

I thought Maddon’s greatest asset was his ability to rally the troops? I’m definitely worried about our lack of resilience at this point.

Man, we are at the el ultimo bummer stage. I still say they can snap out of it and make a season of it as long as we don’t have a rash of injuries to big pieces.

But man this losing streak sucks to sit through.

I agree. This is the worst it’s gonna get and we’re still “in” the playoffs (if they started tomorrow)

We’ll see. Good pitching is a necessity and right now this team is no where close to having good starting pitching and bullpen. Thor and Ohtani basically sucked. Houston pitching is tops in the AL and ahead by 6 1/2 games which is no surprise and a big reason why they’re back on top in the AL West. Check the standings in October when it really counts and see where the Angels are at……………..

Yep. over the last 15 games the list of names, both pitchers and hitters, who we really need to get it together is about 10 deep and it includes pretty much all of our “big guns” on either side of the ball.

Halos did not perform well in May when they scored 3 or less runs and their offensive showing in NY was offensive. Why was Dcell not in at the end?

Why the hell did we become the Pittsburgh Pirates all of a sudden? Everyone in this organization should be ashamed of not being able to put together a quality team even if it is for only a season or two.

Also picked up on that Matty V “so fun” comment. I was like, no, Matt, I’m honestly not having a good time right now.

Vasergian’s presence really gets me because Arturo isn’t even able to get a full time hire and find someone who doesn’t root against the team that pays him. What a chump he is.

I really do wish they’d just find a solid guy and, even if we all hate him and he sucks for a little while, just stick with him and let him grow into “our guy” instead of Matty V. I don’t hate Matty as much as some do, but he really isn’t very immersed in our team.

Doubtful that TrOUT will be playing against Philly after being hit by that pitch..

After all he’s been working hard with the 3 K’s and also the lazy double in CF he allowed by Gonzalez..

The problem I have with Trout is that he does not lead this team. He doesn’t bring the drive needed to get other players to succeed.

Perhaps he’s thinking this lineup just doesn’t have what it takes. The “not again” syndrome. Regardless Trout is a huge part of it and needs to step up big time to turn this thing around..

We could trade Nolan Ryan for two 8-6 pitchers too. Sound like a plan?

Bradley does not have the stuff to be in the game at that point. Iggy and Barria in the pen also. I do not know if Junk was down there. Where is Bearclaw? Wantz? I just know one thing; Bradley has not exactly been that good in his career. Maybe bigger than Joe? Maybe, it can be traced to the owner signing Rendon, or not allowing PTP to raise the salary limit. But it is Joe that moves the pieces. If you feel that Bradley is the guy and you push that button, then stand up and tell us you were wrong once again. If you think you are scrapping the bottom of the barrel, then bring back Bearclaw.

Ortega was the one crapped the bed for Maddon. He got one out and left the bases loaded. Bradley came in, struck a guy out, gave up a ground ball single, then got the third out. If Maddon brings Bradley in at the beginning of the inning, maybe we get a better result.

Now, now – he very coherently said we should sign Marcus Semien. That 58 OPS+ really would be a boon right now.

Indeed. The Angels have officially been punched in the mouth. We’ll have to see if they curl up in a ball or re-orient themselves. My money is on them playing at least 100, maybe 110 more games before the regular season is over.
