Tonight I have been watching the Connie Mack World Series. It is amazing that high school age players know how to play the game. Back up, cover bases, hit the cut off, bunt, situational hitting, etc. Baseball is a fun game to watch at that level even though I know nobody on any team.

Well, my Dodger trade fits the bill. Zyhir Hope and James Tibbs are both LHBs. Throw Ryan Ward in for good measure, stir and mix.
All three are blocked in the Dodgers system.
I hope that, with the fact that Moz was able to trade with a division rival, that Arte will also finally get over his hurt feelings towards the Dodgers and approve a trade with them. There’s no competition with them right now. The Angels are below 50 feet of crap right now. So get over it and do the right thing.
The three dimensional chess version of that trade is giving a division rival Logan and Chase actually makes them worse.
Do that and flip Soriano to Milwaukee (Quero and Adamczweski) and the Angels suddenly have some interesting bats in the organization.
Listen intently on Tampa Bay’s first offer on Neto then insist on completely different players in return. Those guys have a crystal ball or something over there.

Just got back from the Fair, so I’m reading everything.
We all hope so.
Anything at all decent for Adell and Soler would be a bonus regardless if it’s with the Yankees. Better yet, a trade with the Yanks may put more pressure on the RedSox and Rays to make a move to try and get Neto, Detmers or Soriano.
I think we need to move on from Soler, and if we can move him at the deadline great. I like Adell though, and it is only because of costs/our tanking that I am ok with moving him. He really doesn’t cost too much at the moment (ARB 3 after this season).
Are we ready for some combination of Teodosio, Campero, Paris and maybe Rada (if he is ready) paired with Siri (maybe) to go along with Trout for the OF. Or are we counting on signing a free agent to replace Adell?

I tend to have a thousand reservations about trading with NYY. It’s almost impossible to “win” a trade with them – and I mean even in the “win-win” sense.
Their system is also shallow and unimpressive, imo.
One swap might be Adell for Yanquiel Fernandez, who has some of the same drawbacks of Adell, on a different timeline. Still a lower probability bat, though. Otherwise, here’s the best I can come up with, without breaking the sim:

The only time people care is if some player in this deal really gets it together and goes off. Then they act like said player would have done the same in their org.

I like the fact that he’s cleaning house from the bottom up and getting rid of the unproductive players first. There is still plenty of time to trade the valuable pieces.

I’ll throw something out there for you Turks. What do you think about Moore and Paris. Both are tearing it up in SLC, so they look awesome. Should we trade them while they look great or keep them. Can they translate to the majors. When Lowe was sent down he also hit really well and Guzman did as well before being brought up. Can we trust anything that happens in SLC.
For the season in SLC Paris is hitting 310/453/589/1042 and Moore is hitting 304/426/525/951. For 19 games in July Paris is 385/500/815/1315

That’s my feeling. You can’t evaluate pitching or hitting.
Both change of scenery candidates to me.
Paris I simply don’t believe in – he has a 68% contact rate in Salt Lake, well below average, and barrel and hard hit rates under MLB averages. His maxEVs show he can tattoo the ball when he finds it, but he just can’t find it enough.
Moore looks better under the hood, with strong in-zone contact rates and better selectivity vs pitches outside the zone, but his contact overall is still middling, and he seems to completely lose his plate approach when he’s called up to the MLB. The pressure seems too much.
I’m a hard skeptic on Paris, and give Moore a 50/50 chance of making an MLB impact, but I think he needs another organization to get the best out of him. Feels like he’s in a doom loop here.

If they can’t even crack the Angels roster, they don’t have a ton of value.

Stated yesterday, I really liked the O’Hoppe/Silseth trade. Not from the return but from the standpoint that Mozeliak appears to be focused on making changes to not only the premium trade candidates but also the lesser contributors. Team needs an identity and hanging on to under performers is treading water when they need to move on.
I have to believe, Mo has pulled Trout aside and asked, “what will it take to get you to drop your no-trade clause and get you outta here.”
You are probably correct but I hope that Trout’s answer was “Get Soler out of here and let me go back to DH to finish my career here.”
I hope not. I’d like to see trout in the playoffs to finish his career. If he already had a ws ring fine, but he needs to be moved if he gives the ok.
Trout’s got to be hovering near being a billionaire now. And he’s sucked for a few years. We owe him nothing.

It’s clear that Moz intends to use the last two months of the season as auditions for those who will be here next year and for the longer term. And for those who he deems not part of that (O’Hoppe), he doesn’t waste time and he cut him loose. He’s not part of the future so just ride with the “vets”. Also, Moz probably also wants to evaluate which vets he wants to resign for next year.
I don’t want to add to the doom and gloom but get ready for your first reaction to any more trades.

Just 2 seasons ago we were all convinced O’Hoppe was the Angels future with a 3 WAR, 20 HR season. Most on here felt he had “fire” and “grit” and would be a team leader with Neto.
How quickly things change.
I certainly felt that way and even thought he might be a future All star.
I was one of those. Early on, one of the only Angels who seemed to be bothered by losses, unlike Neto. Sadly, Logan’s hitting skills he displayed in 2023 eroded every year after. K rates went up every year and seemed he was trying to hit a home runs every time up. Never was a defensive stalwart but seemed to have gotten worse every year. Rushed to the big leagues, the Angels elected to let him try and figure it out on the fly versus a sabbatical at AAA/AA.

I think it was Organizational failure. He was rushed to the majors and when he had some hiccups, the Org did not use the available waivers to let him work things out in the Minors. I blame the Org not O’Hoppe. I continue to think that in the right Org, he may return to being a 3 WAR player and if he does, I will be very happy for him.
Ohoppe wasn’t rushed. He put up 2.7 war 2 years after he played his first game in the majors, no excuses for him at this point but he needed a change.
Once things started going sideways he likely could have benefited from time in the minors. He had plenty of options. I think he will recover his swing and swagger in AAA and be a 3 WAR type player for Texas or wherever he eventually lands.
He did really well. Then he sucked. Then he was hurt. Then he sucked more. Holy shit people, it’s baseball. I remember when Luis Medina was the second coming of God Ruth too.
I would think that the plan would be to end the year with no one under contract in 2027 other than Trout and Kikuchi. Everyone else is either controlled or a minor leaguer, and preferably with 4 or more years of control. Except Grayson would be the only one with 3.
Not trading Kikuchi in the offseason and then him getting hurt will continue to haunt me. That was a layup “sign and flip” we didn’t capitalize on

At the time, I thought so. Coming off an all-star year where he put up 2.8 WAR, which followed 2 straight 1.6 WAR seasons. $21 mill isn’t cheap but we could’ve gotten a decent prospect or 2 back, instead of nothing now

I don’t see that happening. If he’s on the roster, he will be the DH for the rest of the year and Trout will be in CF. I agree with the sentiment that he is not a contract we have to worry about unloading. He either get’s released or plays. If I had to bet, I would say he plays.
I would hope to get at least one AA for Jo. Not sure Texas has a lot of those they would give.
Nah, that would just reduce the return. Soler is owed something like $6 million more. If he were a free agent, he would be a minor league signee, so he’s worth -$6million. We would have to throw in a prospect to make that happen. We just need to eat the Soler money.

I like Jake. When I saw the entire draft class exactly a year ago this week, he’s the one I spoke to most And when I posted his photo to my Insta account Angels_in_Tempe, he gave it a Like.
He’s a big kid 6’4” and heavy. As Mr Teeth points out, his future may be at 1b instead of 3b.
He seems more passable as a 3B in recent months – but more serviceable for a second division team than a standout. He probably moves over eventually, but might hold 3B down for 2-3 years.
The question is how much game power he gets to at the MLB level. But there might be some David Freese upside in Munroe if you tilt your head just so. A more realistic comp the more I watch him.
I watched Cardinals games a few times when he played. I liked him, was mildly happy when his came up on our board. But i honestly didn’t expect him to hit in the SOUL the way he has.
Yeah, Snead and Munroe have outperformed my picks for their respective spots (Ethan Hedges and Matt Barr) by a good margin.
TBF, Barr has been hurt since drafting, and Hedges has had a nice enough season, but the Angels seem to have done well with their 3rd-4th rounders.
