Sunday afternoon at the Big A. Very good chance I pick up cheapies on StubHub and mill around.

man even wanting the Angels to win that just feels dirty. I wish teams had more than 2 challenges.

Was Milwaukee out of challenges?

Nothing to do with baseball but how is Kurt managing to wear a sweatshirt in this weather?

Who else thought Neto was going to let Peraza take that popup?

Yankees get Luis Garcia Jr. for the Nationals.

Not sure I like that fit unless MLB lets them play 3 DHs at the same time.

Neto looked like he was barely running that out, that isn’t a good look.

he must have thought it was a homerun

This game reminds me of a game like probably 20 years ago when the Angels beat prime Greinke at home 1-0 in a day game with Joe Saunders on the mound? I think Joe threw a shutout! Anyone remember that game?

wow, Miz out at 83 pitches. I guess it won’t matter but he could have gone 12.

Who’s pitching the 9th? Natera and Yates pitched yesterday and the Angels don’t do back to backs with their bullpen arms.

Farris?

I mean, if we don’t like holding to leads, I guess 😐

I don’t disagree, but given those constraints (no Natera, no Yates) Farris is the only one with a save this year – no? Otherwise, Fermin, Suter or Kerry – none of which seem likely. Or Natera or Yates pitch anyway.

Why did Bachman pitch to two batters before being replaced by zefferjahn. I thought you had to face 3 batters minimum

Bachman was pulled for an injury but I didn’t hear what it was.

No trading Bachman now

This why we were talking about trading him earlier in the year before this happened. Him and Joyce both when they’re hot.

Trying to figure out how Miz fell to the 2nd round. Teams were trying to find excuses to pass on a starter who can throw 100+ 7 innings deep?

The guy that got me scratching my head was Jake deGrom. He was a 9th round selection. I remember when he made the jump in the Mets system after never being ranked higher than 10th in their system.

it’s the same as trying to figure out how other guys went in the first round. Working out potential is very difficult. Kumar Rocker went #3 in that draft

He was a RH high school pitcher with control problems who went the juco route because of significant injury (torn meniscus) after his senior year. No one saw him his senior year, because it was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Elite FB/SL, but scary medicals, short track record and junior college sign – that’s about the most volatile, low probability profile you can draft.

He basically blew people away at the Draft Combine, otherwise he might have slipped into the late rounds altogether.

Fascinating…

I was looking at his stats in the minors with their AA and AAA affiliates and he really didn’t get much game time across 3 seasons before being called up. Had good stats, but things really started to click early 2025 in Nashville.

They had to ramp him up slowly because he didn’t pitch his senior year, then got injured, then basically was a showcase pitcher who got drafted as a lotto ticket based on pure stuff. It wasn’t even a case like Seth Hernandez where he dominated HS vs high competition.

And to underscore how volatile prep righties are – Seth is basically shut down for season now due to an oblique injury…

Credit to the Brewers then. They prolly saw the FB/Slider combo and thought they could have something if they stayed healthy. Seems like they have a good thing going on in Nashville. Angels should send some scouts there to take notes.

If Urena can outduel Miz here, I think he’ll get some more buzz for ROY seeing as it’s a “Peacock game” with Matty V.

That’s a dumb assumption. No manager cares about their players socks or pants.

Nor should they. If it doesn’t the bother the club, don’t waste your energy on it either.

In our high school, our manager encouraged us to roll the pants up to show the umpire our knees for the strike zone. I realize ABS now could make that obsolete, but there is more than likely a baseball reason behind it than a fashion statement.

Really, dumb? Perhaps cool guy strikeout artist Neto can take the field in a speedo.

Actually what I would like better is for Neto to move down to the bottom of the batting order to where his strikeouts and lousy obp would be more appropriate
