Last day before the trade deadline, and the Angels do not even play tomorrow, so it is the last we may see of some players. Or, maybe not, as besides the O’Hoppe/Silseth trade to TEXAS, there hasn’t been any Angels trades despite quite a few things happening by now. And with how the Dogers got Skubal, some teams may not even try. We know of at least one FO person who is in “give up all hope mode”.
Anyway, what was important was that this was a Urena start against the best pitcher in Baseball. Miz throws more 100 MPH pitches than anyone in MLB history, and the Angels do not exactly score much already, so everything had to go just right for even a ghost of a chance this afternoon.
How did he do? Well, he went 6 innings, giving up 0 runs on 3 hits, striking out 7 and walking 3. Urena NEEDS ROY votes, he has been phenomenal on this pathetic team.
Meanwhile, Meckler continued to carry the 2nd best OPS on the team by launching a home run off of Miz. He should play more, and Kurt is a bad manager for not doing so. Maybe Soler can get traded already.

This was a real pitchers duel, with great defense as well, like this out of nowhere catch by the Brewers.
Unfortunately, Angels had to go to the bullpen in the 7th, meaning 9 outs for these guys. And while they did try to blow it, with bad throws, bad pitches, and bad management, the Angels somehow got 6 of those outs with Murphy, Bachman, and Zeferjahn.
But, just to be safe, the Angels scored one more on an errant throw that pulled the 1B off the bag.
Now, the real question was who was gonna get this save? Zeferjahn would also pitch the 9th! Maybe, maybe this will work out? And it did. Somehow, someway, the Angels did not blow it. They won their first game since last Sunday, and again ending on a bad strike 3 call! HAHAHA!
