The Rule 5 draft came and went. In the major league portion the Angels picked no one and the Angels lost no one. Here is the rundown on what happened to the Angels in the minor league part of the draft.
Pete Alonso signed with the Orioles for five years/$155 Million. He has a limited no trade clause.
Now that we have the draft pick order worked out, we will start to see the mock drafts.
The Phillies acquired right-hander Yoniel Curet from the Tampa Bay Rays for right-hander Tommy McCollum. Meanwhile, the Orioles designated catcher Drew Romo for assignment.
Drew Butera caught on with the Blue Jays coaching staff.

I guess there won’t be a buyout because now BorAss is saying that Rendone.intends to play this year. Unless this is a tactic to get Minassian to bid against himself.
I swear – I would just swear off all Boras deals. Don’t care who it is. He’s your agent, I’m out.
Perry grabbed a Catcher in silent late November move.

Perry’s only Rule 5 move.
Since our Team and Minor Leagues are so stacked.
https://www.si.com/mlb/red-sox/onsi/boston-red-sox-news/red-sox-officially-lose-22-year-old-pitching-prospect-to-angels-pat3
really going to whine over losing guys in the minor league rule 5? lol
Of course. And if he took a bunch of guys in the Rule 5 bitches gonna bitch about dumpsters and their limp needles and how we should be pitching Mitch Ferris or something. That’s what’s rad about being a bitch. Always busy.
Bitches always Bitch!
Even the Bitches that Bitch about Bitches!
Does it sound like I’m whining or even mention we lost players?
Or does reading comprehension say I’m pointing out we didn’t do much to help our MLB Team nor Minor Leagues.
“Since our Team and Minor Leagues are so stacked”
ya. Pretty clear implication that it’s a bad thing we lost 5 pitchers and didn’t add anything in the rule 5.
Or else you would have just reported the results.
TBW is hosting a Q&A on our farm system
https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/los-angeles-angels-2026-mlb-prospects-chat/
Some interesting responses from TBW. As usual, we tend to agree on favorites (and deficits) in the system, and are mutually skeptical of the starter potential of many arms that are currently being developed that way.
TBW is less bullish on Rada as an opening day starter – he’d rather see the Angels bring in a CF on a short contract.
I think our difference of opinion comes down less to divergence in our opinion of the prospect, and more in the trajectory of the Angels org. I don’t see the team “contending” under any definition of the term in ’26, so see less harm in Rada being a developmental piece at the MLB level. But Ward might not be wrong in implying that the team is not fixing its issues should they do so. I’m still not convinced much is gained by parking Rada in the PCL for another year – but the future of the franchise is not determined by the destiny of one solid-but-not-elite prospect.
Exactly, we aren’t the Dodgers. If Rada comes up and struggles for stretches it isn’t going to cost us a division lead or a Wild Card spot.
I’d like to have a capable OF’er added to the roster in case Rada is completely overmatched at the plate like Teodosio, but there’s little harm in giving him a look.
It’s hard to say for sure, but wondering if that “early look” for Adell was beneficial for the player development. No harm to the fan, of course
Maybe, but they are drastically different players. Adell has far more power but, he also “had a hole in his bat”, whereas Rada makes consistent contact. I’d like to see him get the opportunity, provided that he performs well enough this Spring.
Update on Angels Stadium sale:
https://voiceofoc.org/2025/12/anaheim-officials-once-again-put-angel-stadium-in-play/
Here comes the choreographed dog an pony show. I just saw it happen in my small town. The LDS church wanted to build a temple with a 175 foot steeple when zoning had a limit of 35 feet. The LDS church pulled in people from all over the region, not just residents of the 10,000 person town. They televised it and it went on for hours. These developers will have all the affordable housing people there pumping why they need it. I don’t think people are swayed – it’s all Kabuki theater.
Yeah, when the Crypto (W/E it’s called now) Arena was built for the Lakers, “Affordable” housing was built around it. That means apparently $10K (At the time) a month is affordable.
So Surplus land sale is code for you will be condemned to park in massive parking garages if you want to see the Angels play?
Good Luck with that.
The parking structure for the Ducks has worked out pretty well from what I’ve heard, fwiw
The Ducks garage if you get there early and leave early is absurdly convenient. If you arrive closer go puck drop and stay until the last minute of the game, theres some congestion getting out.
It will be interesting to see if that gets better or worse when OC Vibe starts to fill out and people have more options to bring them there earlier and to stay after the game. The garage may be awesome if you choose to go get a beer or ice cream or something after a game.
“I’ll buy that for a dollar”
“Do “the people” really want all this land tied up in a sportsball stadium? Really?” – the mayor.
There is no way the politicians who “fight for the people” are going to let the chance to stick it to the “rich” who own baseball teams or attend baseball games when they can be heroes and let a huge land development company build much needed housing to combat homelessness and give the poors somewhere to live…. in 10% of the housing built on the least desirable quarter acre on the lot.
Let’s go San Antonio Angels!
Long Beach. When Arte decides he wants a stadium in Anaheim, he’ll start by calling Long Beach.
I think Arte’s age, negative reputation and the team’s dwindling relevance makes it hard to imagine a new stadium getting built in Southern California outside of Anaheim with him in charge. Nobody is clamoring for any of this the way they *may* have been 5 years ago.
He flirted with selling once. He’ll sell before this problem gets sorted.
Ultimately MLB and the Angels will stay at that site but it will be a long time before anything better is built there.
my guess is Arte just won’t sell ( because of estate planning ) but there doesn’t seem any motivation to develop the Big A for foreseeable future.
Carole/kids will get the franchise, put it up for sale sooner or later,
then hire baseball people to run it ,Carpino stays until it’s sold.this is just basically how the Paul/Jody Allen Trailblazers are playing out. And since Arte appears pretty healthy I don’t see anything changing for at least a decade, maybe more.
Gawd I hope he sells. Maybe we get someone who understands real baseball like the Monforts, or Bob Nutting.
Carson. They are willing to deal, and got jilted already by the NFL – there could be a sweet, sweet deal for the Morenos. Easy freeway access, too. And a former dump, so think of the memes generated here. At one time (early 2010’s), there were shovel ready plans for baseball in a 39,000ish seat stadium from HOK over at the Sports Park as well.
Long Beach would be ironic, since the Beloved Cowboy really wanted a stadium there, but was told land would be available but he would have to pay for construction.
Don’t live in the OC anymore but I’d be wary taking the Angels into LA County; Long Beach or Carson. Dodgers and their supercharged ownerships stronghold grip is getting tighter. Kind of like the Chargers in LA, who gives a crap about their existence.
To whoever has a Baseball America sub, may you please drop their new top 10 Angels prospect list? Thanxx
I don’t have a sub but know how to bypass paywalls. Who do you think #8 is?
Appreciate you! The site I use to bypass paywalls struggles with BA.
#8 starts with a T, so I’ll go with Talon Haley or Trey-Gregory Alford
It looks like a T then a rounded letter like an O or a G. TGA would make sense but then where’s the A?
This isn’t it but is available free and is interesting enough
https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2026-los-angeles-angels-top-mlb-prospects/
I click that link and it goes to a see the top 10 behind a paywall. Using a legal archive site I put in that url and got the above graphic 🤷♂️
That 2029 rotation becoming a reality is my dream —
GRod, Detmers, Soriano, Bremner, Dana
What does Mike Maddux have for us?
Here you go.
Obligatory!
I wonder what that list would look like if we traded Ohtani.
When the farm system is rated in the bottom third of the MLB, our top ten prospect list has minimal value in determining talent. What would have more importance is where our prospects rank in the top 100 and top 200 prospects across all teams. This is a far better gauge of potential team success in the future.
I know you’re being funny here but I’m going to be that guy and make a serious reply.
My article from 2022 is well worth revisiting.
The Dodgers haul would have been the worst of the bunch, ironically.
The farm wouldn’t be much better because I focused on an MLB ready return, but the MLB team would be better.
I do have a feeling that if we did trade Ohtani that the dogers would have been the last team Arte would’ve let Perry trade him to. Artes backyard and all.
Good morning, I wanted to share with you a very nice place our family of kids, grand kids and aunts, uncles, mom’s and dad’s visited last Sunday directly across Fromm the entrance of the Big A Hat. But alas, showing my grandpa memory, I forgot the name. But great food and the beer is excellent, and pricing is very fair. 🍕
Naturally I was entrenched and outnumbered by Dodgers fans but trying to defend oneself when comparing the teams is like comparing a Corvette to a Vega, just can’t be done and I got lucky the food was served and everyone loved what they ordered. 🍺 🍔
Both my wife and sister were encouraging though, reassuring me by sharing that before I meet Angels the Angels will return to the top and beat the Dodgers in a WS competition. ⚾
It’s tough being an Angel’s fan in front of a large family with 4 generations and 24 people and only 2 Angels fans in the group while across the Blvd. from the stadium. At least I was with family. Get your Red on Santa! 🎅
just to help your grandpa memory: Angels went 6-0 in 2025. That quickly tames the holiday dinner.
“SCIENCE!”
Sounds like Golden Road brewing. Across Orangewood from the stadium?
Or maybe Karl Strauss?
