2-1 Loss Postgame

Historically, Reid Detmers doesn’t give up a lot of hits to the Tigers. When he does, there’s a good chance it is a homer. How did he do today?

Inning 1: Detmers gave up a single but no runs. Then Neto single, Schanuel walk, Jorge Soler walk and a Josh Lowe groundout made it Angels 1-0.

That was the only scoring. We got Kirby Yates again in the top of the ninth inning. He hit Dillon Dingler with a pitch. Spencer Torkelson flied out to left. Pinch runner James Outman stole second base while Riley Greene was in the process of drawing a walk. A Kerry Carpenter fly out made the game look promising but Hao-Yu Lee doubled to make it 2-1 Tigers. Samy Natera Jr. came in to pitch for Yates. A Jake Rogers fly out brought the Angels up for their last chance.

Jorge Soler was hit by a pitch. Wade Meckler came in to pinch run. Jose Siri singled to drive Meckler to second. Jo Adell popped out. Oswald Peraza grounded out to third for the second out. Denzer Guzman grounded out to first to end the game. Angels lose 2-1.

I realize the spreadsheet indicates that Yates is a decent reliever, but the eye test & reality tell me
that he fuckin’ blows. Double fisted blows, in fact.

Yates now has equal amount of blown saves than actual saves (3).

Neto is an absolute clown. Probably losing the respect of his teammates on a daily basis with his idiocy. A good manager would save him from himself and either bench him or move him down in the order, but unfortunately, we do not have 1.

I still don’t get all the Neto hate. Isn’t he like AL leader in Runs scored? Yea he could be better but man didn’t you guys endure the Gary Disarcina years? Man that was an awful SS.

If you don’t understand the recent vitriol towards Neto, then I don’t know what to tell you. Mr. League Leader also leads the AL in strikeouts and errors. Now he’s only 2 away from caught stealings so he can lead the league in that soon too.

Quite impressive to lead the AL in runs and strike outs I will say.

So, you are gonna completey base all assessments of value on WAR ?

I think that is a mistake.

I’m not on team get rid of Neto or trade Neto, that would be stupid. I also acknowledge that a lack of leadership from top down plays a part in this. I don’t know who the leader is right now…that’s a problem.

Is it really to much too ask to maybe go 1 series without a mental mistake?

Mensa Mike may have sent him down for a few weeks (See Kendrick example). But, who really knows?

Fire Suzuki and Yates. Next game I go to, you better believe I will go down by the dugout before the game and heckle Suzuki, and ask him why he has an infatuation with Yates.
