World Series Game 5 Gamethread

Here’s hoping for a glorious offseason. But first, there is at least one more game to endure.

The Yank-mee fans trying to pry to ball out of Mookie’s glove: emblematic of what so many of us think of the Greatest Franchise In Baseball History’s…fans.

And then: up 5-0 going into the 5th, looking good, looking like they might force Game 6 in LA…Judge beefs a soft liner to CF: E8. Volpe makes a horrid throw to Jizz Chasm at 3rd for no out. E6. Cole fails to cover 1st on a grounder to Rizzo: they shot themselves in the foot. Their crappy defense came back to haunt them in a way I’ve rarely seen, considering the stakes.

Two huge errors and it looked like Cole could limit the damage when he K’d Lux and Ohtani BTB. But then Mookie grounds to Rizzo, who I thought may have been able to beat Betts to 1st, but when I watched it a couple more times, it wasn’t hit as hard as Cole thought, which is why he didn’t cover. Man.

And yea: they took the lead once more. Ah, well. Eff the MFY anyway.

Dodgers deserved it. Next year they have Shohei and Glasnow starting, too. Must be nice.

I was hoping it would go 7 and wanted the Dodgers to win ‘cuz of Ohtani. Congrats to Sho, who had a quiet WS but will win MVP for the season.

Do you think Ohtani thinks he made the right decision? Hah, yeah.

I wonder if there will every be a salary floor and cap in MLB.

Dodger fans on this site celebrate. Next year too. Going to add Soto to your line up. That’s the only way you can win $$$. But The blame is on Manfruad continuing MLB without a hard salary cap .

I spent about 25 years of my life in LA (El Sereno, Eagle Rock & Pasadena), basically just a few miles from doyer stadium but, was stubbornly not a fan. I was that contrarian that just had to be an Angels fan. I’m stupid.

At least most of you are life long OC people and it makes sense.

Oh well, onto the draft and I’m curious to see what Perry does (as well as doesn’t) do this offseason…

I did grow up in OC for context. Huntington Beach born and raised. But I went to UCLA and grew attached to the city

At least the dudgers didn’t win the clinching game by their own. But congratulations couldn’t happen to a better POS fan base

And for once, the Dodgers didn’t.

Does this mean we can’t see the Dodgers win the series in seven? 😃

But…but…I was told MLB would make sure it goes 7 games!

I’m happy for Ohtani, MFY lose, but I’m sad he had to leave to get it.

Bingo. I find them to be waaaay more obnoxious than doyers fans. At least in my experience. Of course I realize other people have had some bad encounters with the latter group.

I was at the Angels – Dodgers game when Trouty gunned down Max Muncy and it was “Japanese Heritage Night” and they just booed Shohei for his pinch hit appearance

You’re new here. My Halos Heaven signature describes how they mowed down my family heritage at Chavez Ravine. How they fucked over Mexicans with Bobby Castillo and Fernando. For my family it’s personal. I suggest a dodgers website for support

I thought we were talking about Shohei’s legacy, not your generational hate of the Dodgers.

And i’m not new here, lmao.

And I also support reparations to those displaced by the building of the stadium!

The reason the Dodgers can afford an astronomical payroll is due to their revenues which are attributed to this lands grab, displacement and then the new fan base.l they acquired due to all of that. This is has an immediate effect on all this. Shohei jumped to where a team could drop 1.5 billion on an off-season

Throw in that the Guggenheim company which made billions off the backs of child labor…it’s stupid that they can just hedge fund 300 billion to do whatever. Are the Yankees an evil empire? Sure. But at least that’s one family. The dodgers are a gross hedge fund of corporatism and Shohei joined that to win. Not impressive. That’s like Elon Musk joining Goldman Sachs.

Now Elon is catching strays?

Dude manufactures solid cars that employs thousands of Americans in a vital economic sector and he’s running circles around NASA – technologically and at lower price points.

Imagine thinking Mia is new here.

Imagine how thinking the Dodgers were the ones responsible for the land where the Dodgers now play.

I know Mia is not new here on this site. But as a 12 year member of Halos Heaven and now here it’s crazy that . crazy she’s riding the Doyers so hard when you know damn well that would not have happened before. Tomorrow when Doyer fans are harassing Angels fans all day I wonder what your tune will be.

And I’m not even going to get into it with the Dodgers and land displacement. Holy shit I’m a lot more part of that story than you can sniff and if you think they’re not a part of that then I don’t know what to tell you.

My hatred of the Doyers stems from that as well, even though that didn’t happen to my family. I am sympathetic what happened to yours. I keep hoping the Doyers return to Brooklyn, that stadium is demolished, and the land is returned to the people it was stolen from.

Big key difference here is that the basketball team probably makes the finals that year without Durant whilst the doyers wouldn’t have sniffed the playoffs without Shohei.

He was clearly injured the last two games.

I suspect Ohtani has already participated in more WS games than the Angels will over the next 9 years.

Sad but likely true.

Almost certainly true. With the organizational excellence and core players in place, the doyers could potentially go on a run here. They’re the type of team that solid veterans will sign on for significantly less for a chance at a ring.
