LA Angels Monday News Crash: Baumann Claimed

Mike Baumann got claimed off waivers by the Miami Marlins.

Robbie Ray exited his start against the Mariners with left hamstring tightness. Joey Bart has a left hamstring strain that put him on the injured list.

Umpire Nick Mahrley was hit in the head and neck by a Giancarlo Stanton broken bat and had to be carted off the field.

I wonder who the Angels have on waivers right now.

Can’t imagine anyone getting claimed.

It’s what I like about baseball, also on the verge of something historical. Look no further than the 2024 Chicago White Sox, on a fast pace to establish the 2nd most losses recorded in a season in any era. Currently sitting at 31W-100L. Sox need to lose 21 games out of their remaining 34 games. Feels like a lock to me, Ippei. Put me down for $2M Ippei-bucks.

Note: In 1899, Cleveland Spiders went 20-134. I suppose the White Sox could lose 34 straight to tie…

we play them for the first time this season, coming up. I do not have full faith that we’ll win those games.

Luis Garcia is shitting the bed pitching for Boston. Two doubles in a row to blow a close game open. Better them than us.

Scary incident with the home plate umpire yesterday. Hope he’s OK after that.

Here’s something written by somebody who doesn’t understand baseball

“ Chinese Taipei’s pitcher Chiu Wei-Che easily scooped it up and threw to first, but the first baseman wasn’t there due to an apparent miscommunication,”

The first baseman clearly was coming in to field the bunt. The second baseman is the kid who should have covered first.

Drives me crazy when ignorant interns get promoted to “reporter” for USA Today or the Associated Press

Good luck with AI to ever be smart enough to understand Angel Baseball, or our trAditions.

In all honesty, Dr. Smith and/or Gilligan would really be in danger if I was a member of either marooned group. Once I could forgive, twice and Smith or Gilligan and I would go for a walk and only I’d return…..just sayin’….

Reporters and TV commentators need to realize these are just kids who just react to a batted ball in play. Don’t need to analyze anything. ABC had Karl Ravech, Todd Frazier and Jessica Mendoza in the booth, way overblown.

Hence why the kid at second base was on his knees crying and the Florida coach went to console him. That kid knew he’d made the mistake.

It was a great game and it was going to be a brutal loss for whoever lost it. I’m glad the Florida team recognized that and showed great sportsmanship.

I don’t like these big deals, as they usually go to 29-year-olds, but Kansas City absolutely stole Bobby WItt Jr.

Charles, I pinged you on Messenger.

For everyone else, I still have two spares in 113 for Sunday vs. Jerry’s Kids. Directly behind home plate, looking down the first base line. Right next to the Diamond Club fence.

Let me know if interested.

Wish I could make it but I don’t return from my fishing trip until Sunday night. Then I have a couple of hours of vacuum sealing to do.

My current favorite is surf fishing…just about anywhere!

Living is Paso Robles puts us an hour from San Simeon.

Bass pole up in the white water with sand crab for Perch.

You’re in Paso Robles. Awesome.

I grew up a little over an hour east on 46 in Wasco and we’d drive to the central coast when we could. My cousin in SLO owns a gym in Paso Robles now.

I like that area a lot.

I am an Idaho river flyfisher and I have always wanted to fly fish (with salt water gear) in the ocean surf in California. That is a beautiful fish. Is that a Sea Perch?

Yes…Barred Perch to be exact.

Caught next to San Simeon pier.

My wife wants to fish up in Idaho.

I am going out of San Pedro, bluefin fishing at night. 2 years ago on this trip I slayed dorado in the day, and bluefin at night, followed by rockfish and yellow tail the next morning.

If it wouldn’t take so much bandwidth I would tell you about a Bluefin trip where we sat on a school overnight. Next morning the captain waited until everybody was up and ready to throw the first chum. For fifty feet around the boat the water was like a hurricane had hit. We were using boat poles to haul them in…like the olden days.

Went Tuna fishing last year for the first time. I probably caught less than anybody on the boat, but it took me two hours to vacuum seal it all.
Alaska a month ago for four days. It was much more expensive but they did all the sealing for me. $200 to get 80lbs back home but everybody loves the fish.

We all lie!! Nobodies car is as fast as they say it is. The golf ball is not traveling as far as claimed. The fish was not that big. The gold found is not as much as we say. Being all four I can attest to these facts.
