Well let’s see. Since Perry has taken over as GM he has made 23 trades. Hes traded with Baltimore (Twice: J. Iglesias & Cobb,) Cincinnati ( DCell) St. Louis ( Fowler) Tampa Bay (Slego) Toronto ( Traded Graterol for some Molson Golden) Giants (Watson) Yankees (Twice: Heaney & Wade) Philadelphia ( 3 times: Thor, Marsh & Estevez) Braves ( 3 times: D Cell, Guillorme & Fletch/Stassi) Brew Crew ( Renfroe) Twins ( Gio) Mets ( Twice: Escobar & Leone) White Sox (Giolito/Lopez) Astros ( Cabbage) & the Rockies ( Twice: Mous & Cron/Grichuk)
So other than the Doyers not sure any team is off the table. Considering the Angels have an off day tomorrow. After todays game Perry can load up on Walk Off Waffles and hole up in his office for all of the 48 hours leading up to the trade deadline and pound out some deals.
I see the Mets traded for Jesse Wanker. When last noticed, Wankerzynski had been hit by a pitch, decided to walk to the Angels bench where Rendon got his greatest hit as an Angel, whereupon Wanks whined that the angels started a brawl.
This makes me like the Mets less.
We can get our
hate onstrong dislike on this Friday.Minasian is off to an excellent start. Let’s keep the momentum going and fill up the farm system some more.
Amen
Brock Wilkin
And you’d rather have this guy hitting .225 in AA this year over Schaunel?
Thank God you;’re not the GM Toots.
Couldn’t be any worse than a old billionaire making the decisions…..
Based on your posts, far worse
I like Wilken. He can play 3B and OF too. He also hits the ball a long way. Chicks dig that. I dig chicks. This will work.
We have seen the fun and excitement young good players can create. Rooting for Neto, O’Hoppe and Schanuel is way more fun than bitching about Rendon and oft-injured Trout.
Now is the time to fill the coffers with young exciting prospects. It allows us to dream of future teams, led by the young core that is currently developing. It is really so much more fun than anything we have seen for a long time.
Yesterday’s news is just the tip of the iceberg, I hope.
I was thinking the exact same thing. I look forward to seeing the First Rounder playing with them shortly.
I want 5 or 6 more solid prospects like this before the trade deadline. Preferably a few pitchers, a 3B-man, a prototypical 1B-man and an outfielder.
Here’s my lazy SOB single team trade: Send Rengifo, Ward, Anderson, Garcia and some money to:
The Yankees for Chase Hampton (SP A ball) Brando Mayea(OF A ball) Jorbit Vivas(2B AAA) Carlos Lagrange( SP RK) Anthony Hall (OF A+)
Pirates for Thomas Harrington (SP AA), Mitch Jebb (IF A+), Jack Brannigan (3B A+) Omar Alfonso (C A) and Hunter Barco (SP AA)
The Indians for Alex Clemmey (SP A) George Valera (OF AAA) Andrew Walters (SP/RP AAA) Wuilfredo Antunez (OF A) and Angel Genao (IF A+)
The Brewers for Cooper Pratt (SS A), Yophery Rodrigues (OF A), Brock Wilken (3B AA), Josh Knoth and Ryan Birchard (SP A).
The Padres for Adam Mazur (SP AAA), Graham Pauley (3b/OF AAA), Homer Bush (CF A+) and Victor Lizaraga (SP AA) and Jay Beshears (IF A+)
The Dodgers for Jackson Ferris (SP A+), Alex Freeland (SS AA), Ronan Kopp (SP AA), Jose Ramos (OF AA), Austin Gauthier (IF/OF AAA)
Stupid Perry
Do the right thing
Any of these would work but I like the Padres deal best. I suspect a package trade is unlikely and multiple deals are more probable. I like the idea of paying the ‘24 salary on the traded players to net better prospects in return.
Yeah, but If I had to come up with multiple deals I’d have to, you know, work harder.
We’ll likely get a couple more prospects with multiple deals.
Seems like a really good return.
Between these guys and the 11th rounder, we’ve had a good week adding arms.
Royals are interested in Rengifo, Ward and Garcia…..
Send em all three for Ben Kurdna (AA P), Gavin Cross (AA OF), Javier Vaz (AA IF. Future MiceTits), Will Klein (AAA reliever) and Trevor Werner (A+ 3B)
We netted an Italian player in the Estevez trade, so, yeah that’s a win.
Sadly, Fletch won’t be here to speak Italian with him……
By the way, cause Yankees…
BTV Has Chisholm’s value at 33.6 and the players the Yankees sent them at 16.7…. cause gotta keep Big Brother in contention. They got a third throw in player too though, so there’s that.
Stupid Perry.
I think the Yankees system kind of sucks. It blows me away how fortunate they are in trades.
If I negotiated with them, I’d be coming after some of their 2024 draft selections as PTBNLs.
Brewers system is in the top #10.
However smaller market teams are unwilling to give up prospects as easily as a win now bigger market team like the Phillies and Yankees.
Not sure thats true . I think it depends more upon the team philosophy. Watch Stearns moves in New York . I betcha hes more like a Standpat Stoneman than a Trader Jack.
Mets aren’t exactly a small market team.
Holy crap…. we got both the guys I said “Maybe we can get”. I should go buy a loto ticket or a ticket to see Mars Volta cause that will be one of the nights Cedric can actually sing…..
So Estavez was a 2.7 on the SIM. Those two prospects were 7.6. They’re both 45 grade prospects and are now our #3 and #8.
I’ll take that for 2 months of a closer we don’t need.
No lotto ticket, you wasted your lone once in a lifetime divine intervention moment…..
Halo fans thank you for your selflessness.
Isn’t Aldegheri Rule 5 eligible after this season?
Good catch Senator because yes he is. Along with other potential eligible minor leaguers of “significance”: Tyler Thomas, Arol Vera, Adrian Placencia & Ivan Armstrong. There’s a shit ton more but I would think the only one that I would think would need to be added to the 40 man in December is the Italian Stallion.
It was such a good haul I would’ve been happy with Klassen only. Let’s see how the “brain trust” deals with the rule 5 issue.
It’s gonna be tough, in a high ranking farm system like ours, to protect all that talent from the Rule 5 draft.
MLB pipeline has us at #30.
Is Matt Swanson still here?

RHP George Klassen becomes the #Angels’ No. 3 prospect, per @MLBPipeline
. And RHP Samuel Aldegheri is now the club’s No. 8 prospect.
Perry forming a love affair with the Phil’s. O’Hoppe, Moniak, now Klassen and Aldegheri
DD loves to wheel-n-deal
Minasian has done well with him, which is not characteristic.
Eppler connection.

Wow!
WAY-2-GO-PERRY! I dig it.
A potential top 100 Prospect?
https://x.com/kileymcd/status/1817332856680595662
Do we even know what those are?
PlayoffsTop 100? We’re taking aboutplayoffsTop 100?That’s interesting to hear from McDaniel that several rival executives had Klassen above Abel in their rankings.
I thought Klassen had top 100 stuff as well, which is why after suggesting Klassen for Estevez on BTV I moved on to Aldegheri, thinking – no way, the Phillies aren’t going to move this guy after he’s shown so much in-season improvement.
But there it is.
When I saw the Phillies #23 and #28, I suspected that one or both of them were ranked much higher in the Angels’ eyes. Estevez is a key piece for the Phillies – so I figured that into it. I imagine the Angels are very happy on this one.
Just an innocent slip of the tongue, or is Wash onto something???
What didnt he want to let out of the bag?
well he didn’t mention Jo, for one
Or Rengifo and not a single pitcher, including Joyce and Soriano.
This worries me. Really.
Maybe Wash just had a brain fart?
Just like in the off-season when he made the comment about Ohtani returning
If Esty helps the Phillies shut down the Doyers in the first round of the playoffs, with an emphatic K of whoever, then this trade is definitely a WIN-WIN-WIN.
Yes a hidden benefit fo sho
Or not for Sho
That is the Question:
Who?
I like the Phillies. I like Bryce’s transformation from douche to solid man. I like a lot of their pitchers. The fanatic is fun. I’ll root for Esty, sure.
My intel is telling me hes still a douche though Gitcho.
Now, Perry, if you’re still reading, go check on my potential Mets trade. 🙂

Brandon Sproat would round out the upper minors rotation nicely.
Man I wish I could play with the Trade Simulator. Turks did you break down and buy a sub for it?
I did. I waited a long time, pissed and stewing about the paywall. But then I simply realized, that (1) this is resource that front offices and analysts are increasingly referencing as a benchmark, and (2) it’s the price of about two movie tickets, and I spend enough time with it to merit the cost.
I don’t know how I’m going to do my annual IIWPM series without it. But I woudn’t use it more than a month. I wish they had a 30 offer. Can I sign up and cancel right away?
They designed their subscription tiers with annual subs in mind, probably knowing well that most folks would trial-and-dump like you’re suggesting. 🙂
I did the same. Finally was like “How many hours of fun will you have with this over the next year? Breaks down to what? .50 an hour?
that’s the guy I’ve been looking at
You mentioned Sproat recently…… Hard name to not remember.
Seems like a fair trade.
Halos win on prospects. Phillies trying to win now. Good for both teams but Philly gave up a lot for a little bit of time with a good closer
When DD’s reign there finally comes to an end I can only imagine the state of the franchise then.
Amen. Nice idea. Or get one of the Pirates young blocked arms.
I love how the Pirates and Brewers match up with the Angels. Lots of prospects at every level of those systems that I covet.
Also why they have more buyer’s prerogative than other teams – the Angels have a lot of competition for the goods.
Anderson has a trade value of -2??
He’s significantly better than Gioloito, with an extra year of very reasonable control. Two 45 rated prospects ( or at least a 45 and a 40) along with a throw in please.
makes their ratings highly suspect
It’s cause he’s owed money.
Yes, he’s owed money. If we could trade him only for the rest of this year as a rental, and have him back next year for 13m, I’d take it. That’s why I think the extra year of control should be a positive, not negative. We could always throw in some extra $ for better prospects.
Yep. That -2 is actually 2M dollars. So, just by SIM. If we throw in 10M dollars we’d get back a similar haul to Estevez (8m or points). Though probably more because starters are valued higher.
Beyond Anderson’s contract cost, their model looks at underlying stats and expected metrics that they feel are more predictive of value. There’s often a divergence between Anderson’s real world outcomes and his x stats, but this year markedly so.
I do think they undervalue him from a market perspective, but I also understand why they feel he is ripe for regression.
