Went to our first Spring Training game today with our 3 kiddos, ages 7-12, and had a blast. Game was horrible, but Jake Marisnick gave them autographs pregame, so was fun when he had the left field blast. Got a few autographs after with some minor leaguers, but then to my surprise Tim Salmon walked along signing and talking to all of us. Pretty cool day in Tempe!
Time to stop hoping Sandoval can regain form. More the reason for Angels to get Snell and Bauer to sign. Sandoval is washed, package him in a trade with Adell for prospects. Sign a veteran 1b/DH.
Its crazy to think thats an option to add 2 legitimate starters this close to the season starting and our team with an obvious need for pitching isn’t doing it.
The media knee-jerk reaction is that we lost Ohtani, so we better do something to replace him immediately or else we’re completely dumb and the whole offseason is ruined.
However, it is very unlikely that we are going to reach the playoffs this year, even if we sign someone.
So having a year of development, seeing what we have, and trading away assets at the trade deadline may be the most prudent approach for this team, even if it means we have a crummy season. That includes not paying top dollar for a pitcher who isn’t really an ace, and will cost a draft pick. And instead spending wisely next year when there are better options available and we are more sure about our core.
Which veterans have trade value at the moment? Rendon (contract), Trout (contract), Anderson (performance), Hicks/Marisnick we just got for nothing. I guess we signed Estevez last year, and Stephenson this, but it isn’t much overall.
Spelled it out nicely, quasi-rebuild in work. Very few viable options to trade veterans. My desire would be to see Perry nail the draft with 2-3 solid selections.
I dont see it happening. I do not see Arte opening up the wallet any further given the uncertainty of ticket sales and marketing this team. Could be wrong – but I would be surprised.
My favorite thing about Hunter Strickland’s career is the 2021 season. He had a 1.65 ERA with the Rays, got traded to us and put up a 9.95 ERA, got released then put up a 1.73 ERA with the Brewers
I’ll take back everything positive I ever said about Adell’s defensive improvements and any hope that Sandavol becomes anything more than a frustrating, inconsistent, #5 starter.

Never a bad day at the ballpark, nice
That’s great to hear.
12 years ago we took our 4 year old to her first spring training game. Still going strong!
Tip cap, turn page, etc.
Like others I’m losing faith in Sandoval.
sandoval would be an effective 4th starter.
2nd 4th?
I’m thinking more like no. 2
boy oh boy if Lopez can get a hold of one here then….oh….never mind
This is pretty pathetic.
Unfortunately, this game might align more with what most people are expecting out of our team this year.
I’m not posting my 65 win prediction until it’s asked for.
ah come on, you need a shot of Pinapple12 joy juice
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Brown won the game for us the other day… he can do it again!
But what can he do for you ?

pretty much my thinking
I had the same exact thought this weekend.
Do it Perry.

There are red flags galore, proceed with caution is great advice

Thats fine – then trade the veteran assets and let the young guys develop if the goal isn’t to win games.
I’d love a rebuild. It would give the losing some meaning. But if we want to keep Trout etc. then try to win more games?

well of course we should because these games mean something and we know he wasn’t working on something.

….and that’s why we got Zuniga on the cheap
so what do we do with Marisnick? To me it’s what they call a no-brainer. Keep him, trade Jo.
Marisnick will regress to his mean soon. He’s had over 2000 MLB at bats and is a career .228 hitter.
You are right on Marisnick, so players seem to shine in Arizona then fade as soon as they leave. Just like Jabari Blash.
What? You mean that career .280 OPS after 2000 ABs is not a fluke?
Tony Two Bags with a double and 2 BB’s. Nice…
He would be better suited to lead off at this point.
We might not win this game.
How many years in a row must I say it?
Sandoval is not a Major League pitcher.
Sandoval already in mid-season form!
Rendon got a hit…

TrAdition!

Tony 2 Bags is back!
Sign him to an extension!
Vernon Wells approves of this message!
Tyler Thomas: Wasn’t he one of the kids on Home Improvement?
Jonathan Taylor Thomas
What if Sandoval is… toast?
Whatever it takes to have you post more.
