LA Angels Tuesday News Crash: Rank

The Angels dropped another three positions in the MLB Power Rankings this week. Of course the Angels made this list of the nine most epic September collapses in the wild card era. Nolan Schanuel got a Fangraphs write up. Shohei Ohtani will get some kind of procedure done. Whatever it is, he plans to bat next season from day one. Tim Salmon and Chuck Finley are uniformed advisors now.

Julio Urias was arrested on felony domestic violence charges.

Here is a story about Jim Abbott and his no-hitter.

But Shohei isn’t human.

Sammy’s Twitter X page claims that Arte plans on signing Shohei’s stun double to a contract next year. They calculate that 57.9% of the fans won’t know it’s not him.
They plan on placing him on a perpetual 15 day IL due to an Oblique strain. Once a month they will let him play and then get hurt again. They will give him the number 17, and he’s legally changed his name to O’hei Shotani. They are also assuming that many people will confuse him with O’hoppe and get distracted.

We should start our own version “The Onion” for the Angels.

Oh wait, the truth is already ridiculous and funny. No need for it. Truth is better than fiction.

Lineup hasn’t been posted yet…

Maybe the Angels just decided to forfeit the rest of the season and finish their record at 64-74.

As some of you predicted, Rengifo gets AL Player of the Week.

(Trea gets the NL counterpart for the amazing series he had against the Angels.)

Reschedule the damm thing?!! My senior year we won the league championship and I nearly fractured my wrist running into the wall the day before so had appointment to get MRI during our picture time. Our Coach had the sense to reschedule for when his Oregon State bound soon to be college bench warmer could make the damm photo. Not Shohei but just a little punk 17 year old. What are we doin??

We don’t put people on the IL after they are hurt….we have a process.
You wait several days, list them day to day, say they should be ready on Monday………then wait till Thursday, then they go on the IL.

Call up bum, move another guy to the 60 day IL. Follow the science

Yes in fact the Angels removed him twice from the 40 man roster this year. So I guess its a really really low moment for him.

But hes still cashing them checks!

I would think he follows the Braves Inglesias model. They will turn him into not a great, but serviceable hitter. And I don’t get the hate for the kid, not like he was forcing the Angels to play him with a gun to someones head. It’s just baseball

Too many negatives thoughts on Ohtani leaving and how bad team will be 2024. A core of Trout, Drury, Ward, Rengifo, Moose (if re-sign) and Rendone (IF healthy) is not bad. If Sho goes Dodgers, try to sign Martinez to 1yr deal to DH . Let kids Neto, Schanuel, OHoppe fill in some gaps. Put FA money into starting pitching for at least 1 top line legit starter. That done we could be a pretty good team. Easy to doubt it, but I’m sure Reds, Giants, Dbacks, Red Sox, Cubs fans expected their teams to tank again this year but each team has been good. It can happen here. But a new coaching direction needs to start in club house with Nevin replaced, or nothing will change next yr.

So starting out with way less than we’ve had in recent years, but let’s be optimistic that the outcome will be better somehow.
Sure, let’s see what happens, sometimes things just click.

But my expectations for next year are about as low as they’ve been in over a decade.
Again, “expect”ations. I think it would be nuts for me to expect more, and I don’t want to start next year feeling frustrated by expecting more and then seeing us stumble and stink.
I’d rather be pleasantly surprised at our team outperforming and having a good season.

If my math is correct we’ve gone 10-25 which isn’t good!

With 24 games left if we maintain that pace we’d finish 71-91, or 2 games worse than last year

10-25’s good if it is your hitting stats.

The Foundation Building Materials’ keystone of the game tonight against the Orioles is the video “Everything Is Broken (Multifandom).”

The Jim/Michael moment right around 1:15 gets me right in the Ohtani oblique feels.
