LA Angels Tuesday News Crash: Personal Services

Here are the arbitration salaries projected by MLB Trade Rumors for this off season. I wonder how Griffin Canning’s back is feeling these days. Edgar Quero and Chase Silseth were named here as the Angels prospects of the year. Thanks to the fans from the players. Now we get to see what personal services Albert Pujols can perform.

Rob Manfred says the baseball record book can’t be changed. This is in the context of whether Barry Bonds steroid tainted single season home run record should stand or whether Aaron Judge is now the record holder.

Here are the television stations to tune in to for the remainder of the post season games.

The Cubs will make a qualifying offer to Willson Contreras. The Phillies agreed to a two year extension with their “Interim Manager” Rob Thomson. Guardians pitcher Nick Sandlin has an upper back/shoulder strain and is out for the rest of the post season.

Aroldis Chapman skipped a team workout on Friday with “not an acceptable excuse” and was fined and kicked off the ADLS roster. The Braves just inked Spencer Strider to a seven year $92 Million deal. (Nice porn stache.)

I’m routing for a CLE – SD World Series. I wouldn’t mind ATL either.

Can’t say that I am terribly sad at that news don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time, however, it is just a sad situation all the way around so many people affected forever by poor choices.

Amazing how many people die from drug OD’s every single day and not even an arrest….kill someone rich and famous with the drugs you gave them you get 22 years. That seems fair. Just a reminder, Skaggs wanted the drugs brought to him ……with that said, not in any way defending Kay.

i really dont want Bert anywhere near Anaheim and hoping he stays far away, but i think he could be a HUGE asset for the club in the DR.

Making him be the face of the organization there and lets see if he can wrangle up some of those prospect kids early instead of paying $25M/yr.

SOLD!

well not quite but Nightengale at USA Today reporting the process is going brisk and THE SALE could be wrapped up in a few months.

It’d be great if the new owners have a BIG BUDGET ready to go for 2023 and get us a SS

That would be ideal!

I have been afraid that if the sale of the team drags on into the offseason that we would be left with no major moves and essentially a wasted year. As we all know, that would be disastrous considering that Trout and Rendon would get a year older and Shohei’s potential last year with us would be wasted.

We REALLY need for this sale to go through soon so that tough personnel and player decisions could be made for the 2023 season.

Not just you, but has ANYONE on here looked into how long say the last seven franchise sales took?

We may want to get a realistic idea of how long your average baseball sale takes to complete.

Couldn’t the new owner just swipe his credit card or something?

gitchogritchoffmypettis

Well…

I know the Astros took about a year. We have no idea when David Glass actually decided to sell the Royals, but Sherman still had to wait for the owners meeting 2 months after the sale was announced to get control. The Nationals went up for sale in April and still don’t have a set buyer. It took 5 months for McCourt to sell the Dodgers and they are a popular team AND he had a divorce forcing him to hurry. Plus, that 5 months is after he’d already found the Guggenslaveminebaseballhoard, not 5 months from starting to look for a buyer.

Unless Arte had a buyer in pocket already, the way Glass did, this shit’s likely not getting done all that fast. Even after the sale I’d be surprised if NewOwnerz just plop a whole new FO into place. The best hope is that NewOwnerz hook PTP up with a pile of cash.

Let’s just hope that Arte’s sale of the team goes through similarly to all his other big free agent signings.

We typically hear of Angels signings after they’ve already gone through…

Maybe the fact that Arte announced the “potential sale” of the team means he’s already got everything ironed out. Fingers crossed.

Yeah, they take long so when its being reported that this one is going briskly, there’s some optimism there something could be settled to allow us some FA budget thisyear

Bud Selig never wanted to acknowledge the asterisk next to PED users because that would be admitting that he was aware of cheating and after the 2 seasons spanning over the strike seasons, he welcomed the fans returning. It took the fans and writers a few seasons to figure it out the deception though. For me I had two former MLB players informing me about what was happening and one current non-user feeling that Selig would do something about the PED use in the game, sadly he did not. In retrospect it was all about the money. Baseball records used to hold my attention, I even purchased new Baseball Encyclopedias every other year and now the records are meh.

In the 1940’s Kiner and Mize hit over 50 HR’s in a season. In the ’50’s it was Mantle and Mays and again in the ’60’s it was Mantle, Mays and Maris. In the 1970’s only Foster with the Reds. No one in the 1980’s and then Ka-Boom over 40 different 50 plus HR seasons.
Writers and fans seem even to this day to not want to accept that ‘Roids wrecked the records books on what was allowed by Bud to take place. Following Bud’s lead was the Player’s Union wanting but very little punishment for cheating.

I admit to being swayed by those in the game when I came to the conclusion that Steroids were cheating and should have been seen as such by one and all. Banned for life from all aspects of the game would have cleaned it up and allowed the game to be even more respected and trusted. Same with the cheating on sign stealing, but too much money was involved to want to stop the PED’s use and sign stealing. Acknowledgements followed by punishments handed out that barred Player’s from the game and Owners made to sell would have gone a long way to gaining the deserved respect for the game by fans and the players both, while cleaning the game up.

Commissioners of the game prior to Selig had back bones to insist that MLB be perceived to be clean and honest of cheating and they stuck to their morals by banning greats such as Shoeless Joe Jackson and Pete Rose. Selig was the most spineless leader of any sports league maybe ever. Manfred is just clueless.

Now MLB and NFL have allowed sports gaming to enter into their leagues because of the money. Watch and see that the regret will be major league when the shit hits the fan down the road. In California alone are two propositions on the ballot with hundreds of millions of dollars backing either side of either one of the propositions that has to do with Sports Gaming. How soon do you think the bribes will take to be offered to players? If the two biggest sports leagues in the country, if not the world, have been swayed to accept the money in the open it won’t be long before it will stain both sports.

Cheating has changed the Major League Sports World in even their Hall of Fames by allowing writers to vote in players even when the numbers they put up were ridiculously out of proportion. Mike Piazza and Ivan Rodriguez were known within the sport to be using PEDS. Seattle Mariners for years had multiple players using PEDS and set the record for most wins in a season on year. I am of the belief that 7 MLB players that used PEDs are currently in the Hall of Shame Fame.

By not removing the Home Run records of Bonds, ARod, McGwire, Manny, Sosa, Palmeiro, and others has really weakened the sport and invited in future cheating. Even Manfred manipulates the baseballs used in the game to travel different distances in different seasons, legal cheating? Oxymoron no?

While I dislike Manfred as a commissioner, at least he listens and tries to fix things. Problem is he listens to the sometimes a fan types and not the true die-hard fans who know the game better than he does.

Doom and Gloom for the future? That will be up to the leagues and how they react to when the “Shit hits the Fan”.

Thank you reading through my diatribe.

I think it would really add a lot of joy and excitement to the game if there was just a constant witch hunt for steroid users, sign steeling, etc etc. It’s a version of fun that never has to end. All the investigating, suspicions, rumors and accusations…. plus all the bickering about what records are actually records, actual champions, actual games won and lost. Who is actually a hero? Who believes various players are heroes and who doesn’t. Is race a factor?

Oh boy. Huge f***in fun. Can’t wait to get less into baseball.

I just don’t give a shit about cheating unless a team’s throwing games. why don’t we all just grow a pair and assume that everyone is cheating or trying to cheat, accept that’s always been part of the game, and get on with it?

Also, bring back steroids and entertain me you jocks.

comes from those Satanic puppy eaters (Astros!! OMG). WTF is this world coming to when nobody is hiring 65-dead executives from Sears, Blockbuster Video, and Montgomery Ward…..BTW is just 33yrs old, hell he’s just one yr older that GOAT (Mike Trout). Yes it’s OK to hire from even the Astros, especially if you actually wanna win (ask the Orioles, NOT CTPG 80%ERS WHO HATE ANYBODY WHO ISN’T #17 OR #27) After all they’re OK with losing as long as they’re spoilers late in the season and lose badly between April-mid September…….

So why does Farhan Zaidi still have a job ? Their team lost 26 (!!!) more games this year than last year. If the Giants really cared they would have hired a better POBO not some irrelevant GM lackey.

You like this signing because another team did it. If the Halos signed this guy you would immediately say it was awful. You rooting for other teams while endlessly hating everything about the Angels is so tired.

At this point I don’t even think you’re a fan of the team, but more a fan of your own trolling.

Oh, good (?). I was afraid your pointy little head assploded all over your mom’s basement when you heard your MaybeMan Farhan Zaidi hired a West Virginia grad as GM and not the Ivy League fella you would have warmed too. Looks like you’re OKish.

Now maybe Farhan has the free time to go to Red Lobster with you. You should go find him and ask…. and then keep finding him and asking him.

By the way, what is a CTPG 80%er? Is that a thing? Or just your thing, so probably not an actual thing?

I like the Astros. We’ve been awful since long before their rise, so they didn’t hurt us any, and there’s just no way they were the only successful team cheating in the late 2010s…. just the most acceptable team to punish.

My prediction is that the Angels and Albert will come to an agreement of sorts in which Albert will be released from his 10 year obligation to the team.

Why would Albert ever agree to less than being paid-in-full? If the Angels don’t want him, he gets paid for 10 years to do nothing. If they do use him in some capacity, he builds a resume he can use to get another job with another organization.

If you were Albert wouldn’t you take $5 million today and be free of the Angels?
