Last couple of days been volunteering at Church, so I check the box score and JUp and Suzuki hit HR’s, Wow. 9 HRs in two days, wind must be blowing out.
has anyone here actually seen Stefanic play defense much? I know the mantra is good bat/no glove but from what little I’ve seen of him he looks to have a decent range and glove.
Actually Duffy’s DRS numbers at second in a very small sample size are excellent but he hasn’t gotten very many innings there this spring. I think the best OVERALL line up to start season for this roster should be Fletch at short and the Duffman at second.
He looks fine at third base and his time I’ve seen him at second have been uneventful. Not sure what they are looking at. Who exactly is the defensive wiz backup players that the Angels Have on their 40 man? Captain Jack? Velazquez ?
I wonder how is outfield work is . Could he evolve into a super utility player like the Angels are trying to do with Taylor Ward? Maybe a super utility platoon with Jose Rojas?
Well it looks like Jose Marte may have screwed the pooch on bullpen spot no. 9 today. I think that now leaves Andrew Wantz, Jimmy Herget & Oliver Ortega fighting for the final spot. All have options
I have a Tyler Wade story. At the game I attended Saturday at Camelback I took my son down by the field near the Angels dugout. I was waiting for Austin Warren to leave. Tyler Wade left, stopped to sign for a couple of kids, then a young teen asked him “can I please, please have your cleats?”
Tyler looked a little taken aback, took a split second, then said “dude I’m wearing them.”
Probably doesn’t translate well to print but it was freaking awkward and a little hilarious.
And Reed in the back
Said, “Everyone attack!”
And it turned into a Halo Blitz!
And Maddon in the corner
Said, “Boys I gotta warn ya,
It’ll turn into a Halo Blitz!”
Halo Blitz…. Halo Blitz…
Halo Blitz…. Halo Blitz…
It’s, it’s a Halo Blitz!
IT’S A HALO BLITZ!!!!
I’m really pulling for Justin Upton. Mostly because he’s my son’s favorite player. I do appreciate the fact he’s shown up in shape willing to do whatever the team asks of him.
I don’t think he would have tasted MLB levels so early in a better system. He just turned 24 in January. If he’s on Houston or Oakland he’s not in the bigs at 21.
postgame up
Plumber getz the last out today.
Stinger.

Only when we’ve been at bat.
Jose Rojas es en Fuego. How do you ignore that bat?
He’s become odd man out, forgotten one….Wish he and the Plumber could find a “magic glove” somewhere.

Ward, Rojas, Stefanic, Rengifo……….All of them are a defensive liability,
It’s Too bad
Rengifo rates well at SS per BB-ref and just a click negative at second base.
I know defensive metrics aren’t everything but on paper Rengifo at SS and Fletcher at 2B looks to be our best arrangement.

Capt. Jack is decent at best and in his career in both minors and Majors Velaquez has been below par with the leather.
Wade has negative marks next to every position he’s played on BB-ref.
The middle infield is looking like the weak link on this team.
Bard must be really pissed off walking Stefanic after all that.
The plumber with the unassisted unclogging of the base paths. Well done.

Cheap Arte probably wouldn’t have given him a replacement set if he had given the kid his shoes.
lol this has nothing to do with the owner, great job
You fell into the sar chasm.
Here is another big chance for Upton.
Oh well.
This inning is turning out to be pretty cool (except for Trout popping up).
Seems like these have been pretty frequent!

baffles me why peeps want to jettison J-Up in favor of two rookies that haven’t really done much yet.
i love Marsh/Jo as much as anyone but J-Up is a better ballplayer right now and has much more experience
And it’s his free agent year. Last chance in his career to get a multiyear contract
Streaky hitter, liability in the OF and hits his homers when the game is not on the line. But I like Upton.
J-Up is trending in the wrong direction and the other two should be trending up.
J-Up!

I had such a ton of respect for him after Skaggs died. Heaney too. All of them, of course, but especially those two.
funny how one day we can hit, the next not, or vice versa
well ok! First hit, a 3 run Upton shot!
Good job taking those walks, though. Neither Ohtani or Walsh is known for patience. Adell is also laying off pitches he’d swing and miss last year.
seems there’s a correlation to who is in the line-up that day.
our A-Team does well if they are all together, but if you remove a Shohei or a Trout, its a big drop off.
Thats baseball.
Suarez giving up weak contact for the most part. I can handle that.
Why the vast improvement? was there some truth to the stories that he was tipping his pitches when he first came up?
Perhaps.

our 1b defense sucks
