I don’t think we should just “give” him the set-up role by default. There is alot of volatility with performance of relief pitchers from year to year. It may be wise (no pun intended) to allow the “hot hand”, say maybe Tepera, to get those high-leverage outs in the 8th until Loup can fix his poop.
Speed in the field and on the bases. Fletch, Marsh, Ohtani, Trouty, Adell and Wade can all fly. Not as much station to station and a lot more 1st to 3rd and scoring from 2b.
I was watching him over the weekend and I can see why teams are intrigued by him. His swing is decent he just seems to be over a lot of balls. He’s not physically overmatched, he just sucks at pitch recognition.
Actually I was encouraged by Tyler Wades OBP against Lefties & righties last year. Maybe he finally figured something out cuz you know Joe wants more baserunners with blazing speed.
my hope is PTP will take all the leftover IFs, the odd man out among Jo/Marsh/Ward, and any other spare parts and convert it to a SS preferably, and if not that any upgrade to the startrers
Postgame up
Loup has kind of pitched like poop so far this preseason
Last 2 outings have been very rough. Pitching into the wind might have something to do with it today. (Let’s hope.)

Or Quesadilla. That big cheese has been grilling’ hot this spring
Shohei has looked dreadful in spring before as well. Was fine in the regular season
I’d not worry about it until he’s losing us real games, he’s probably working on stuff.
And it’s windy as heck there today
Marsh lost count of outs. Hit a flyball and it ends up in Tucson.

BP this inning.
Velasquez bomb! Nice.

Making the infield cuts even much more difficult. Good things happening for a change.
No one with options will get cut.
today is a good day
Fletcher, Marsh, Adell looking good with the bat lately.
Back-to-back doubles for Fletch and Marsh.
That is what being a daring base runner will get. Rattle the Pitcher and Catcher. Good for Fletcher.
getting rain drops at my house right now. been cloudy all day. (<10 miles as bird flies to TD)
only thunder today was #34
Fletcher!!! 3 years in a row leading the team in hits and looking for four years in a row.
Three quick pop outs for our new RHP
We love to see it
Without the defensive miscues he goes 4 solid under 60 pitches.
Well freaking done
very encouraging for the season
he pitched more innings today (3-2/3) than he did in 2020/2021 combined (2)
(Slim Pickens voice)
Hot dang! We got ourselves a pitcher!
Upton was holding with 2 outs….. (Palm hits face)
J-Up!
He’s out 2nd best OF offensively – it really is baffling to see folks wanting to jettison him.
My eyes tell me, Upton is now our 4th best offensive outfielder. Maybe 5th if Ward continues to hit.
Ward hasn’t had a hit since the article came out about him fighting for a starting job
looks like the reverse jinx worked
J-Up keeps lifting his foot up.
Not good
Spring training for the tv crew as well haha
Fletch doing Fletch things
Until they figure out they can position the right fielder about 15 feet behind the infield dirt lip.
Thor looks good. Getting excited for him
since we’re getting close to Opening Day I would guess he’ll be back on the mound in the 4th
We’ll see
very happy for him. Totally cool dude – didn’t think he’d be so softspoken/humble.
he’s definitely been flying under the radar this camp
Looking at splits for the infield mix.
Matt Duffy is actually better against righties than lefties.
Fletcher has a noticeable split favoring lefties, meh overall.
Mayfield much better vs. lefties but not good against either
Velasquez is bad against both.
Tyler Wade is better against righties but bad overall.
I’m not confident in this group.
Scary! Pitching issues and middle infield issues is not an encouraging mix.
I actually like our rotation just not the depth.
Actually I was encouraged by Tyler Wades OBP against Lefties & righties last year. Maybe he finally figured something out cuz you know Joe wants more baserunners with blazing speed.
Yeah and I really hope Joe does not “F” with Fletcher and have him going back and forth between positions to play match-ups with this subpar group.
my hope is PTP will take all the leftover IFs, the odd man out among Jo/Marsh/Ward, and any other spare parts and convert it to a SS preferably, and if not that any upgrade to the startrers
There are options out there, just depends if Perry wants to part with farm pieces. You’re right, Ward could have some value.
