Rockies at Angels.
How did it go? It was kind of an error festival.
In the first inning, a walk, a throwing error by Vaughn Grissom and a hit put the Rockies up 1-0. In all Soriano struck out two but also walked two. Jorge Soler led off (!!) with a hit and Mike Trout also singled to get an Angel to scoring position with no outs. Vaughn Grissom flied out to right advancing Soler to third base. Jo Adell struck out and Oswald Peraza flied out to the center fielder to end the inning.
Second Inning
Eduardo Julien walked but the Angels executed a strike ’em out throw ’em out double play.
Kyle Karros grounded out to end the Rockies half of the second. The Angels were retired in order.
Third Inning
Jake McCarthy homered to make it 2-0 Rockies. Then with one out Soriano gave up a walk and a line base hit straight back up the middle. He got Willi Castro to hit into a force out but the lead runner made it to third base. fortunately, he struck out the next man to retire the Rockies in the third. Donovan Walton singled to left and Jorge Soler singled to right. Mike Trout lined out to the shortstop. Vaughn Grissom flied out. Jo Adell got a base hit to left field to score Walton. 2-1 Rockies.
Oswald Peraza got an infield single. Jose Siri hit a grand slam! 5-2 Angels.
Nick Madrigal got a gift single that ate up the Rockies second baseman but Logan O’Hoppe grounded out to end the inning.
Fourth Inning
Jose Soriano walked a batter and hit a batter to put a man in scoring position with one out. He walked the next guy on four pitches to load the bases. He struck out Tyler Freeman. Hunter Goodman then lined out to right field. The Angels went three up three down.
Fifth Inning
Soriano hit Willi Castro with one out. He struck out a guy and then gave up his seventh walk of the night. That brought in Chase Silseth. Sterlin Thompson singled to make it 5-3 Angels. Kyle Karros then grounded out to retire the Rockies. Vaughn Grissom walked. Jo Adell flied out. Oswald Peraza reached on a blown double play or force out. (Just a bad throw). Jose Siri came up with two men on and one out. He flied out but advanced Grissom to third base. Oswald Peraza stole second base and drew another crappy throw by a Rockies infielder. Vaughn Grissom scored. 6-3 Angels.Nick Madrigal lined out to end the inning.
Sixth Inning
The Rockies were retired in order. After two outs, Jorge Soler reached base for the third time. This time it was on the fourth fielding error by the Rockies. Mike Trout struck out to end the inning.
Seventh Inning
Silseth got an out and then the Angels brought in Ryan Zaferjahn. He got a line out but then walked Willi Castro. Then he struck out Tovar. Vaughn Grissom got a ground rule double in the right field corner. Jo Adell flied out to center but advanced Grissom to third. It didn’t matter. Peraza grounded out while Siri lined out.
Eighth Inning
Jose Fermin came in and coughed up a lead off double to Sterlin Thompson. Then Kyle Karros doubled to make it 6-4 Angels. Then your basic five pitch walk to Jake McCarthy. Tyler Freeman singled to left and Kylke Karros scored. 6-5 Angels. Hunter Goodman homered. 8-6 Rockies. Then there was a strikeout and another walk. A wild pitch sent the free runner to second. The Angels eked out a third out.
Adam Frazier came in to pinch hit and worked a walk. Logan O’Hoppe grounded out but Donovan Walton also walked. Jorge Soler came through with a triple to tie the game at 8-8.
Wade Meckler came in to pinch run for Soler at third. Mike Trout walked. Vaughn Grissom grounded into a double play. (grumble, grumble)
Ninth Inning
Kirby Yates came in to replace Brent Suter. Sterlin Thompson lined out. Kyle Karros singled to left. Jake McCarthy doubled to right. T.J. Rumfeld hit a sacrifice fly to right to make it 9-8 Rockies.
Jo Adell groundout. Oswald Peraza singled on a grounder to center. Jose Siri grounded into a double play to end the game. The Angels lost 9-8. You can put a toilet seat over this one.
