I’ve always attempted to be a realistic voice when it comes to the team. It’s the Organization that I’m very VERY negative about. As for the team, I’m neither excited nor down – just meh.
We lost the greatest player in the sport, added next to no one to the roster, are counting on a bunch of kids with barely a cup of coffee in the bigs to breakout and become mainstays at their positions.
We’ve all been huffing the hopium, but this train will derail quickly unless it all goes right, which it never does.
Neto and Mickey look pretty decent right now but Nolan looks a little rough and Logan looks awful along with the big money boys. I think there will be some individuals who emerge as you suggest, but from a team standpoint, I don’t think we’ll be very good. And since I don’t really have any expectations, I can sit back and enjoy the surprises. I do disagree with 71 though, Spring training may not count, but it does matter, more so for the negative than the positive. Players often have great springs and then that goes away when the season starts. There are some players who are just slow starters, but generally speaking, poor spring performance, not as a team, but individually, often carries over. And it depends on what you’re looking at. Mike Trout isn’t going to magically stop being behind on fastballs when the season starts, although it’s possible he might see more breaking balls. But he will need to make changes to what he is doing to start hitting, and Logan as well. I don’t believe there is any hope for significant change for Rendon. It is not a good sign when a player is struggling agains mostly fastballs in dry air from minor league pitchers in day games. From a team record perspective, I do agree that the won loss record in the spring is irrelevant.
It might Jeff. Or any poor play might be in spring training, and the club may hit its stride once the season starts. No one knows. We just need to wait and see.
We can be pessimistic going in which is natural. But we don’t know. Let’s see what happens and hope.
So here’s my take: The past few years we’ve rocked Spring Training. Then the season starts and everyone who was hitting .300 plus and pitchers that were doing great reversed when the real games started. So this year will be the opposite. We are saving everything for when the season starts in a week or two.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. 😀😬😜
When F71 is the voice of moderation, the ship has stuck the iceberg. Haha
I see Trout is catching strays and he didn’t even play today.
An all-timer:

Win or lose – Spring training means zero. Absolutely nothing. I suggest chilling out on both extremes.
73 win team and chill.
’71 telling us all to chill out?
This is truly bizarro world.
No need to get excited about spring training results good or bad.
There’s a Moreno-worthy billboard if I ever saw one ….
Angels Baseball – no need to get excited!
Spring training doesn’t matter. But when you’re playing this poorly it seems like foreshadowing.
Let’s be honest.

I don’t expect it all to go right but I do expect a few pieces to emerge. Right now they all look bad.
estevez had a good inning, no errors in defense which has been rare, Neto looks good
I’m most worried about Trout. He looks lost.

And we weren’t any good when we had that great player.
Exactly.

We look awful.
I am being built up
I have been let down again
Is this where we all start singing the song?
We’re never winning again

I want what you’re having.
I’m sharing with you !
I like it.
Hupium Rules!!
Hupium???
And U isn’t even next to O.
I’ll take responsibility for those 2 runs. I opened Gameday and immediately saw “In Play, Run(s)”. Sorry all.
That happens to me all the time!!!
Are our batters so damaged from past practices that they will never learn how to hit with RISP’s?
Are our
batterspitchers so damaged from past practices that they will never learn how to hit with RISP’s?Or is it just trAdition?
Dont you mean “Are our
batterspitchers so damaged from past practices that they will never learn how to not give up a hit with RISP’s? “Yes, that and many other past bad practices
Damn the Brew Crew has a right fielder that sucks on defense as much as our guys.
Our OF defense sucks?
With the possible exception of Adell, I thought that Trout, Moniak, Ward and Hicks were average or better?
Man on third with no outs and we can’t bring him home.
One of our finest trAditions.
it’s gonna be a long, long year
Midseason form.
I’ve seen enough of adell being confused at the plate. Goodbye.
Time to Dump the kid Perry,
Adell (Or one of the five Ofers) will start the year on the IL. Mark my words.
Signed Billy Eppler.
Yep. He’s not really included in the “play the kids” thing for me. We’ve seen enough
I remember you used to defend this guy. You’re right, time to move on.
The best thing about this season so far is that whenever a pitcher is struggling I don’t have to see Matt Wise’s stupid face walking out to the mound.
Just imagining Matt Wise giving absolutely no helpful advice and then walking back to the dugout, bleh.
Runs and almost 30 pitches… in the 1st…..again.
I’m sensing a trend. 😀
led by our new ace today.
