Hey, it is John Henry Weitzel.
Jeff, Charles, and I went to the game today. You know, to have some fun on the last home game of the season. We did not expect to write as much for this site this year, but we did. Again. It has not been a fun year. Or decade really, to be an Angels fan. But we have hope now with the new ownership coming in for next season.
As we say goodbye to Angel Stadium for 2026, we now realize that the clock is ticking on this 4th oldest ballpark. Lots of memories in this place, and with that new ownership, those plans for a new stadium have resurfaced. We have no idea how much longer this place lasts, and how many more times we will get to come here at all.
The Angels are a huge part of our lives, that is why we show up on this website after back to back to back 90+ loss seasons, it is why I still write these post games even on my phone in the stands while I try not to make a mess or get burnt. Fandom is weird, and we suffer together in a community.
I am going to miss Angel Stadium. And I hope I get to come back at least one more time. And not just me, but also those here at Crashing the Pearly Gates. No more excuses such as “But Arte owns the team” or “But I only go to Padres games” and the like.
So join us at Angel Stadium on Saturday May 15th 2027, if the season actually gets played.

Oh yeah, the actual game. Uh, it was Ryan Johnson day! How is THAT for subverting expectations?! He went 4 and 2/3 innings, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits, striking out 6 and walking none. BABIP to death as nothing was hit that hard.
Highlighted Embarrassing Recap
I normally do not mention it much, but the Angels messed up their ABS challenges by losing them by the top of the 2nd inning. COME ON! So if there are any bad calls the rest of the way, you know who to blame.
Twins scored first in the 3rd as a few eye seeing hits got strung together for a bloop rbi single.
And another right after.
Johnson didn’t get hit hard today, but he got hit a lot, BABIP to death as a 3rd run came in for the Twins in the 5th.
The 6th was… Bad. Siri dropped the ball. And then a single brought a run in.
But then a sb overthrow and a bad play by Neto allowed ANOTHER run to score.
7th was even worse as a 3 run home run made this a blow out.
The Angels offense did jack all game. Managing only 2 hits. And one of them had to be reviewed. It was a sad sack of a whimper to the last home game of Arte’s ownership.
Upcoming
That is it for home games. No game tomorrow as the Angels go to Sac and then onto Seattle to end the 2026 season. Need to go 3-3 to avoid 100 losses.
