Saturday night fireworks. The team has plenty of extra from not hitting home runs.

Quakes game over, can hear the fireworks display from 12 miles away. Soto spotted San Jose 5-runs in the top of the 1st, Quakes came back to take it. Davalillo 11th bomb. Adam Fraizer (yes, still around) had a 3-hit night and Alvarez doing good lead-off work, 46-steals, 3-runs scored.

I think Suzuki playing guys regardless of results like Soler and DFA’ing guys like Walton who was probably our hottest lefty bat leads the players to believe we aren’t even trying to win, I mean we aren’t. They have to lose a lot of fight seeing that.

You can’t convince me what the Dodgers are doing isn’t terrible for baseball. Don’t hate the player hate the game, but come on it’s a joke.

Bring me the salary cap

Fwiw I blame Milwaukee and TB for not beating the Skubal offer. Can’t hate on LAD for having their offer accepted

It’s not a Dodger problem. Anyone could have acquired Skubal, and that package that seems pretty beatable. If the Brewers really wanted him, they could have beat that package.

The Dodgers don’t force the GMs and other teams to act cheap. To me, these recent years have only exposed that is more of an ownership problem that 1 single club.

I acknowledge that. Beyond the trade, every other North American sport has a salary cap and is better off for it. It’s way past time for baseball

It’s that salary deferral shit that fries my toast but Friedman has had his share of stinkers, Snell, Glasnow and Kyle Tucker

What is about paying someone with tomorrow dollars which will be worth less, that fries you? I am asking because it’s a brilliant way to pay someone. Is it because the Angels didn’t think of it first and got spanked with Grandpa’s “personal services” BS?

Took a nap this evening and just tuned in. I see Neto still stinking up the top of the order. I was hoping to wake up to the news he was traded. 13 K’s tonight though. Great effort there!!

Dodgers even won the trade on the sim, lol. (Though I think they’re undervaluing River quite a bit.)

Isn’t River Ryan like 28 and missed all of 2025 with TJ?

Have a hard time not seeing this as a fleece.

Am I missing anybody?

Well, they retained Sheehan, despite the early false rumors.

I’ve been wondering if Snell or Glasnow are offloaded in the offseason.

Yeah. I was shocked at how low a value Ryan had. Still, even Skubal fell to below a 40pt value once he was down to 1/2 a season of control. Detmers will be a 7 or something.

He’s a 27 year old playing in AAA coming off TJ in 2024 and missing all of 2025. He’s only 2 years younger than the 2 time Cy Young winner he was just traded for. I’m surprised he even has any value on the scale.

File this under “Nobody asked me” but if ANY team offers their #5, 7, and 15th prospects for ANY of the Angels players – I say take it.

I think a core memory from the Angels this year will be Mike Trout running in for 3 seconds to field a ball when the go ahead run was on 2nd in the 8th inning. Like he didn’t want to have any chance of throwing him out.

Yes he is a rental, but for Skubal you get A, AA, and AAA players. And obviously that is the HIGH bid.

Real nice return to my mind. River and Hope alone – 55 and 50 FV prospects, #22 and #57 in the top 100. Smith is more of a lotto ticket – big stuff, no control yet.

With a return like that, Moz has every reason to keep his bar high. Even with the scarcity on the market, that’s a big return for Skubal, imo.

Get he’s a rental but that’s the best package Detroit was offered for their 2x Cy Young winner? Man.

I love the package – feels like a no brainer for two months of Skubal. If Ryan stays healthy, he can be very good.

His only knock was 10 walks in 21.2 innings. He has looked very good each time.

Hilarious thing is that when I went to Baseball Trade Values to look at the Skubal package, the first trade proposal I saw that was not Skubal related was a D-Backs fan trying to trade for Natera Jr.

Someone just saw the same inning we did.

How much could we get for Urena and Natera. Whatever Natera’s trade value is it has to be low because it hasn’t figured out he’s stinking amazing yet.

I wondered for a year why he hadn’t been called up yet. He was dominant in the 2024 Arizona Fall League. I figured he’d be called up early in ’25 but didn’t happen.

I think a scoreless inning in AAA hitting 103.8 qualifies to just join the big league club now. Don’t waste his bullets in SLC

Kirby and/or Suter gone soon and it will be an entirely homegrown pen next week.

I was looking over our salaries today and realized how much money Perry spent on nothing. We could have $100M coming off the payroll including a few trades.

But sadly there is really not that much that is interesting in the FA market. Teams are locking up their young players so frequently now. Maybe the Angels could make trades like they did for Iglesias where they take guys off of other teams hands that are going to make a good amount of money, but man the FA list looks bad next year.

The Silseth trade still baffles me a bit in that regard – solid numbers under the hood for the most part, and the homegrown pen is starting to really come together.

Joyce, Natera Jr, Zeferjahn, Bachman, Fermin – a lot of hard throwers there. We’ll see if Murphy and Farris can keep carving out roles. Obviously Kerry may get a few more looks in a swing role.

In my Brewers mock exchanges, I keep pairing one of Gasser or Drohan (last night’s pitcher) with two of Milwaukee’s AA bats, and it tastes great, less filling… than the stodgy mess in the team’s current upper minors.
