Brutal Loss Postgame

The Angels got assaulted by the Giants today. Ryan Johnson was responsible for five runs in the third inning and another three in the fourth when Brent Suter coughed up a home run to Rafael Devers.

The Angels scored one run in the seventh inning on a Mike Trout RBI double play.

After that, both teams started replacing their starters. Zach Neto had been hit by a pitch and was removed. The word was that Neto was removed because of the score rather than because of injury. The Angels brought in Tyler Heineman to pitch the bottom of the eighth inning. He retired the side improving his season ERA to 10.38.

Jose Siri and Logan O’Hoppe hit back to back one out singles in the top of the ninth inning. Oswald Peraza struck out. Josh Lowe walked. Vaughn Grissom walked to drive in Jose Siri. 9-2 Giants.

Jose Soler grounded out to end the game.

Soler should be able to get his average below .200 today

He will continue to bat cleanup because Captain Clueless will be putting the lineup together.

He needs to be demoted in rank.

The parasite known as Jorge Soler is batting 4th again today!

He is 2 for his last 21 at-bats, and has a slash line of .138/.219/.207 in his last 15 games.

He hasn’t had more than one hit in a game in the entire month of July.

This guy doesn’t have photos. He has video with sound!

We need for someone to start managing the roster and force Kurt to use other pieces.

This is such a harsh blow for the A’s in a season of harsh blows. They’ve lost Rooker and Clarke all season, lost Kurtz, Gelof and Wilson for long stretches, lost multiple pitchers, but Langaliers was the heart and soul of that lineup, and a beast when it came to ABS challenges.

Tough season for my wife – looked really promising in spring until all the injuries piled up.

The Athletics are the team I really think could pull a mini Astros run once they move into their new stadium in Las Vegas. A good young corps with more depth in the minors. One season of health will probably flip the switch.

They’re just pitching and good health shy of a sustained run at the postseason for a few years.

They’ve been doing everything mostly right…good drafts, smart young core of players of good makeup who get along well…but this year has just been a nightmare of interminable random injuries. Everytime a key player gets activated from the IL, two more go down.

I still think the A’s would be great trade partners for us. They need pitching and we need hitting.

Take Nightengale reporting with a grain of salt, but he says Moz is now expected to stay on full-time.

SoCal weather/lifestyle got another one!

ACL Angels lost in the playoff game last night.

in better news, some kid named Bremner got his FIRST win as a professional, five strong innings, allowing just one run and striking out seven batters.

Let’s go Bremmy! Finish the year strong, maybe get a late season promotion to AA

massive overpay by Boston. We better empty the shelves in this sellers market

BREAKING: The Boston Red Sox are trading left-hander Connelly Early to the Washington Nationals for infielder Curtis Mead, sources tell ESPN.

Assuming this takes Neto to Boston off the table then.

I can live with that. Neto is one I would like to keep around. This season has been frustrating but I’m not out on him as much as some others are.

Need to dump Sori and Reid though. And Adell and ZJ and anyone else we can get anything back for.

Not sure that this takes Neto off the board for Boston. This seems like a one off situation. Looks like Boston wanted to get rid of a pitcher that didn’t fit their picture anymore. Why trade now is a mystery to me.

I still don’t know why Boston would be interested in Neto but that may be because I am not high on him and his strikeouts.

I have not been following Mead too much, but gets on base with some pop. Not much on the bases or defensively and his production is only based on 3-months. He really profiles at a DH, yuck. Will he continue this breakout? Per the Red Sox sites, Early was raising some internal concerns, currently has elbow issue. Still, seems like lefties should bring a better return. He is a guy I would not want the Angels to get.

It was a bad move for Boston. Neto is a much better fit and Early would have been part of a package.

Yankees need some offense, hit up the Yankees to see you can trick them into wanting adell or soler.

It’s kind of absurd that a rehabbing Sebastian Rivero is helping to decide a rookie ball championship.

I see we brought our A Game today. Lulz.

I didn’t even realize it was a day game.

Trout was 2/3 with a BB and didn’t strike out. That’ll be my takeaway from the game.

Just for chuckles, Jordan Romano has 4 saves in 4 save opportunities for the Rockies. And he remains tied for most saves for the Halos, with 4.

What’s that, 9 rbi’s for Devers in these two games against the Halos.

Terry

Soler 0-5 today with 6 lob’s. Grissom has 41 rbi’s, fourth best on the team behind Adell, Neto and Soler. He’s only four behind Soler and 6 behind Neto. But he has 85 fewer abs than Soler and over 120 fewer ab’s than Neto. And he has only 37 k’s.
