Kyren Paris and Christian Moore were optioned to AAA. Who will be the Angels second baseman?
Team USA got into the World Baseball Classic final and won the coin toss to be the home team. We’ll see how they make out against Venezuela.
They’ll be testing out a new checked swing rule in AAA this year.
Phillies outfielder Johan Rojas just got himself an 80 game PED suspension.

Jose Soriano is our Opening Day starter π.
The breakout will be televised. Cy Young dark horse πππ
His breakout will be predicated on our infield actually being able to handle all his groubdballs
Breakout or breakdown due to overuse?
If he repeats last year I’m happy.
Is anybody into this WBC thing? Seems boring. I like the MLB All Star game more. I appreciate baseball trying to find a way to get more fans, but this seems off some how.
Maybe when the teams are full of Halos in the near future, I will be into it more. Hey, it’s possible.
Nah the WBC has ruled. Angels prospects had some good moments in the first round too. Excited for tonight.
Yup. The whole thing was so good I don’t even mind us losing to Venezuela that much. Those folks have had it tough for a long time. If anyone get’s to celebrate on us it’s nice that it’s them. I was jealous for a second. Then I went in my bathroom, saw that I have toilet paper. Wasn’t pissed anymore.
I enjoy it alot more then the all star game
Its awesome, especially being there live. Highly recommend trying to go to a game in the future. Playoff atmosphere in March.
This is an interesting comment by you though considering the majority of your previous comments are focused on this forum being more optimistic about the Halos. Does your enjoyment of baseball solely reside with just the one team?
Yes!
Time to branch out.
I am enjoying WBC way more than the ASG.
Kind of interesting. It was you that pointed out an article that mentioned Halos with a good outing early in the WBC. Not sure what you want.
The WBC has been, imho, much, much more exciting and interesting than MLB ASG. The ASG is about as fun to watch the NBA ASG. Which is to say not at all.

Judge, Skenes, Harper, Schwarber, Skubal, Witt Jr., Ohtani, Soto, Tatis Jr., AcuΓ±a, Crow-Armstrong, Henderson, Rodriguez, Guerrero Jr., Arozarena, Machado, Churio, Perez, Yamamoto?
maybe baseball isnβt really your thing.
I guess you’re right. I don’t get excited about who gets the last bench spot on the Astros this season. Or why the Phillies’ bullpen is struggling. Yeah, baseball is not my thing obviously.
I’m glad you enjoy the All-Star Game, something I personally find skippable. It’s 100% an exhibition, meaning nothing. The result is easily forgettable. Who won last year? What was the score? Was there a memorable play? Did anyone who played in it care?
It’s an exhibition just like the AS game. Not to be taken seriously unless until MLB and other professional leagues across the planet, agree to shut down their leagues in order to compete in a showdown. The World Cup is such a competition.
Also, American born and raised players going to play for foreign teams smells like they chose this route due to not being invited to play for the USA team. Odd to me but as a fun exhibition, totally cool with that.
What about Bachman as the closer? Been lights out this spring. Has never been accused of being durable.
If he is not durable than he checks the box for an Angels closer, until he hurls a fireball in the 9th and it takes his UCL across the plate too.
Would love to get to the point where we go Bachman-Joyce to close games.
Is Bachman and Silseth becoming lockdown relievers and salvaging the infamous 2021 draft too much to ask for?
I feel like Bachman should be able to prove himself as a lockdown BP asset, but, I have almost zero expectations for Silseth so anything below a 4.50 ERA would be a ‘W’ in my book.
Am I crazy or do I remember there being a clause in the Stephenson contract that if he doesnβt pitch X amount of innings (or something like that) it activates a super cheap club option for next year. Not that we necessarily want to go through another season of counting on him and then him doing nothing.
A $2.5M club option can convey in 2027 if the player misses significant time due to an elbow injury (vested)
It has already been activated and up to Angels to use it, but with a lockout looming don’t know if Angels do.
Gotcha
Yes, another season when heβs even older and coming off more injuries will be the ticket.
Exactly why I said not sure weβd even want that
This is why signing relief pitchers to more than one or two year contracts is insanity. Not just injury risk but the inherent variability of results. Most teams end up building bullpens on the fly, even those with an established closer.
Agreed, the signing never made sense. Relief pitching is too volatile to hand out multi year deals
