The Royals signed Starling Marte to a one year major league deal.
The Dodgers signed Keynan Middleton to a minor league deal. The Phillies signed Connor Gillispe to a minor league deal.
Astros closer Josh Hader has biceps inflammation. His status for opening day is uncertain. Blake Snell has lingering discomfort in his left shoulder and probably won’t be ready for opening day. The Marlins top prospect Thomas White has a grade 1 oblique strain and won’t pitch for the rest of spring training.
I somehow missed that Kade Anderson made his debut on Saturday:
https://www.mlb.com/news/kade-anderson-has-three-strikeouts-in-first-pro-inning
Had been waiting for that one. Struck out the side in his first inning, K’ing Xander Bogaerts, Miguel Andujar and Gavin Sheets. Allowed two baserunners in his second inning that were cashed in after he was pulled, but that’s a solid debut.
Anderson & Arnold were 1-2 on my board, and both have had promising spring debuts. Still waiting to see what Bremner does – he’d be up in the next couple days if he debuts this week.
First big round of cuts are in. No surprises. Recent draftees Nate Sneed and Chase Shores among those sent to minor league camp. https://x.com/laangelspr/status/2028635236440179023?s=46
In the way too early camp here, but is this team still 100 losses bad? I think we are a bit better this year, espacially on the SP front.
Yes unless everything goes right and everyone stays healthy
Very much so. The season could also get combustible as well. Perry and Kurt have to feel like either dead men walking or desperate men ready to panic given their contract situation.
And if Trout has any semblance of competitiveness, he will ask for a trade at some point if the team is floundering in the summer given Arte’s comments about winning.
Trout would, you know, need to not suck and, you know um, not cost 30000million dollars if he wants to be traded. Arte’s not gonna eat 20M a year so Mike can live his feelz.
Uh oh – someone with something a bit positive to say…get him guys!
Nope. They’re a 78 loss team.
It is definitely in the 90 loss bad.
It’s possible the pitching will be better but the defense is still horrible and the offense will likely be worse. All assuming great health.
Let’s check back on May 10. By that time we will have played Houston, Seattle, Yanks, Toronto twice, and Mets, amongst other teams. I think that is a good sample of teams that should be better than us and we can see how well we compete.
So how many years in a row have we opened on the road now?
I don’t believe this is a 100-loss team. It’s unlikely the team will outperform the Pythagorean, as it did in the first half of the 2025 season.
Something like a 70-92 record is within the realm of reality given the current roster makeup.
59 win season.
we lost 15 War
Damn I didn’t realize Taylor Ward was that good
He was referring to Washington but adding Ward makes it 18.
I’ve completely forgotten the entire Ron Washington tenure already
I’ll take over 100.
Curious what you’ve seen in spring that makes you more optimistic. None of the SPs have pitched more than 5 innings yet. Soriano and Detmers got knocked about, and Kikuchi hasn’t pitched yet. Is it just that G-Rod and Manoah seem relatively healthy?
Not that game outcomes in spring mean much, but even with today’s win, their ST record translates to 59 wins (aligning with Rex’s prediction below).
Today The Angels play The Royals. I’ll set the Over/Under for Angels runs at 4.5.
Under.
I’ll go over today. I’m predicting a Trout bomb and an Adell bomb.
Winner winner
Over. 7 runs
I meant the royals were going to score 7 runs in the first inning
Angels win 5-4 ! The over gets the bragging rights
Angels win 5-4 and cover the OVER with 5 runs.
I know it’s early but I do like this coaching staff so far
I’m curious – what is it you like about them?
I think the team has played better and Suzuki has quietly done his job and hasn’t promised anything. Actually we haven’t really heard from any of the coaches
Family friendly!
Affordable!
I dig them 😎
You forgot:
Safe!
Not Overly Concerned with Winning!!!
Other than feelz what do you like?
Just the quietness of the coaching staff and improvement of some of the players already
Thus far in Tempe….
My hero Vaughn Grissom leads the teams in ABs and has a .188 BA. So he gets a “let’s go!”.
On the positive side, another guy whose upside I like, Peraza, is doing all right.
Christian Moore has six Ks in 12 ABs. Not cool. Kyren Paris wants the job. Adam Frazier is looking good too. Nick Madrigal, in far fewer ABs, is looking really good. So that 2B battle may work out to where Moore can go live in Alabama for a year and learn to hit baseballs for real and play LF. It really is OK to draft a guy and not see him start on the MLB team for a couple years.
Logan O’Hoppe has three Ks and is hitting the ball with anger and regret.
This version of Teodosio that has more steals than Ks is a fun little fling.
Thus far Raudi is making Rada look like a hobo. Donovan Walton is also making Mike Trout look like a hobo so…
Jorge Soler. Quietly off to a good contact rate.
VERY EXTREMELY EARLY pitching returns.
Alek Manoah is your innings leader. Hasn’t given up a run but also hasn’t really looked great.
On the flip side Ryan Johnson looks good but has given up some runs so he has an ERA.
A guy I know saw Austin Gordon pitch. He said he looks “young kid good”. He had good stuff and puts down hitters older than he is. But he also is young, and older hitters outsmart his bad locations within the strike zone and get hits. But he is a strike thrower with good stuff and the guy said he could develop into a good pitcher.
Detmers and Soriano. Woof. Let’s hope those first few IPs were weird spring innings.
Biggest disappointment thus far has been Dana being out battling an illness. Hope it’s not too serious and he can start ramping up this week.
Our rotation seems to be locked in with Klassen in the driver’s seat for #6.
Ah, there it is.
Caden Dana said he was diagnosed with mono on Jan. 31 but is feeling better now. He was still able to throw the last few weeks and is scheduled to throw a bullpen tomorrow. Said it was mostly fatigue and a fever but he kept his appetite and didn’t lose weight.

Didn’t skaggs get that as well?
Casey Kotchman.
Making out with the groupies does it every time…..
