Great seeing Salvy with a huge knock. He’s HOF in my book.
Yes, I weigh being a franchise icon in that decision. I also don’t think WAR does a great job quantifying all of the aspects of being a catcher. For example, Ian Kinsler has 10 more WAR than Buster Posey but I’d take Posey over Kinsler every day of the week.
Maybe just aesthetics, but for me the DET@CLE Game 2 was my kinda baseball game: fantastic pitching and defensive play, and just one mistake, in the 9th – by a guy who gave up only 2 HRs all year – and that was that.
No one would’ve guessed Clase would cough up that deep, majestic high-arcing 3-run blast by Carpenter. I certainly didn’t. Clutch! Clase gave up 5 ER over 6 months this season. Wow!
Noel’s throw to nail the runner at 2nd from deep in RF: fantastic. Kwan’s catch: unreal. Ball was in his mitt while his mitt was on the grass but I don’t think any part of the ball touched the field…Meadows’s jump and catch against the wall in CF: a 6’5″ player!: Awesome.
And Skubal looks like maybe the best pitcher in MLB already. Guy looks like he’s 19. Oh man: to have a pitcher like that on the Angels.
Let’s hope the home plate ump isn’t so biased for the Yank-mees as that d-bag who called Game 1 was. Royals pitchers uncharacteristically gave up a ton of walks, but they certainly weren’t getting the calls.
The tension in that one was tight all the way through. You just had the feeling the first team to score took it. And both defenses made amazing plays to keep the other side off the board.
KC! Way to go!

KC 4-1. I like it! Keep it going!

I also like that type of game.
Unreal.
You give me Clase with 2 out and nobody on and I’m betting the farm he closes out the inning.

Close only gave up 2 HR this year, and it doesn’t appear he’s EVER given up the 3-run Jimmy Jack.
I guess I haven’t paid enough attention to other teams. I’m pretty sure, though, that the Boyd pitching for Cleveland isn’t Oil Can.
Mathew, maybe, I don’t know
