6-2 Dodgers
Sigh… Paragraph after paragraph after paragraph of positivity, down the drain. Reid Detmers made an epic comeback that was squandered by an inability to score, Shohei Ohtani was back in Angel Stadium in an official capacity for the first time in a year, the Dodgers were striking out worse than I do at a bar, and Ben Joyce threw a pitch with so much zest that every person watching actually went blind.
And yet, I’m just at a loss for words. We expect less than nothing every single night and still manage to come away from a game with stomach pains and a headache.
Let’s just get it over with, I guess.
Detmers returned to the Big A and looked like he did in April, only running into slight trouble in the 3rd inning and allowing 3 consecutive hits to the murderer’s row top of the lineup. Those were the only 3 hits the Dodgers would collect through the first 9 innings. Ben Joyce punctuated those 9 with a 105.5 MPH pitch with amazing location that made me feel like everything was going to be okay… until it wasn’t.
Roansy Contreras is going to get a lot of hate for this, and some of it is probably deserved, but… uh. I don’t really have anything to add. You ruined my night, dude.
