The two oldest expansion teams face off for the final time this year. Both Overshadowed by. Their more sucsessful neighbor in the metro area, but going on opposite directions. The Angels have been in a decade long suffering fest, while the Mets have Grimace on their side, looking like a team of destiny. However, they are the Mets, and are used to collapsing. Will they do that today? The Angels sent out Griffin Canning he went 5 innings, giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits, striking out 8 and walking 4. Not bad.
Oh and Quintana was pitching for the Mets. So weird how he does well when not on the Angels…
Highlighted Recap
Mets scored the first run in the 2nd, on a single.
But Quintana felt bad and threw a wild pitch in the bottom half of the inning.
And then a Thaiss sac fly gave the Angels the lead!
In the third, the Angels added on, scoring on a sac fly by Kevin Pillar.
But the Mets scored again in the 5th.
The bullpens for each team kept the offense low, and Contreras saved the game for a 3-2 Angels win!
Upcoming
The Angels have an off day on Monday and then go to NY to face the other NY team. Now THAT is a team that has their stuff together. Even if it is just 2 superstars carrying the offense. No fair how that works for them.
