Angels end the first half with a Series win vs M’s

Last game of the first half, and the Angels face the Mariners on a Sunday afternoon. Well, it isn’t really half, the Angels played 96 games now, so it is a very lopsided thing. Still, the All Star Break is here, so how did the Angels end… the pre All Star stat block thing? Was it a split, or did somehow, this team get a series win to end this on?

As far as pitching goes, the Angels went with Carson Fulmer. He went 4 and 2/3 innings, giving up NO runs on NO hits, striking out 7 and walking 1. WHAT THE HELL?! Yeah, Carson really did almost have 5 perfect innings and he ran out of gas after an error. I am pretty sure he will be given a look at starting after the break.

OUTSTANDING START

Too bad Strickland ruined everything. Well, him and the offense being bad. That was not good. Not at all. Managing only 2 hits and no walks off of Logan Gilbert in 7 innings is not how you win games. Neither is striking out 9 times. Or letting your leadoff double sit there all inning.

But give thanks to the Mariners bullpen, who allowed the Angels to take the lead! LOLZ Mariners.

Highlighted Recap

It was a pitchers duel to start, in part due to a great catch by M-I-C-K-E-Y in the 3rd.

Still scoreless

And a great throw by Keston Hiura in the 5th.

WOW

Too bad he also airmailed the next play and Fulmer had to leave despite not allowing a hit. Luckily, Strickland got out of it.

Still scoreless

Too bad he allowed a home run in the 6th

1-0 Mariners

And then stolen bases and a throwing error led to another Mariners run.

2-0 Mariners

It was looking to be a loss, but then the Mariners foolishly went to their bullpen in the 8th, and after back to back walks, Jo Adell did this

3-2 Angels

Insert Summoning Salt here.

Now with the lead, it was up to Roansy Contreras to save the game and send the Angels into the break with a series win. And he did it! Angels win! They are now 41-55 at the All Star Break.

Upcoming

That’s all folks! Until Friday that is. That is when the Angels go to Oakland for perhaps the final time ever, as the A’s move to Sacramento for their 2025 games. Maybe something will change in the future, a deal is made, or other things, but until then, this may be the last time you can see the Angels in the Oakland Coliseum. For 58 years the A’s were in Oakland, and now, it might be the end. See you at the Draft like, right now, GO GO GO! The Angels pick 8th!

SEA outscored us 19-11 over the 4 games; we won 3 of those. Eat it, tooty-two!

Maybe the M’s should have left Gilbert in? But nice win and happy for Jo!

Hopefully these wins don’t lead to Arte making a bad decision and not trading off players for prospects.

Let’s hope not. After winning only 2 out of their previous 11 games that would be foolish.

Considering it was the Mariners, Jo hit the game winning HR, and it clinched the series win, this might be the best win of the season !
