The Angels scored early and often today, earning a 7-0 shutout over the Boston Red Sox. Some folks who have been struggling broke out the good lumber. Rendon, Schanuel, and Hicks all had multi-hit nights. Reid Detmers worked into the seventh inning and continued to dominate. Luis Garcia, Jose Cisnero, and Hunter Strickland got in some work while the Angels had a very comfortable lead. They all looked good and improved their ridiculous earned run averages.
I am going to have a lot of highlights because I don’t always get many to work with. Boston couldn’t field to save their lives. Many of the highlights therefore double as Boston low-lights.

no Jo. Hicks in RF, Micky DH. No Sano, either. I don’t think Jo will get any starts vs RHP
That game got my Hopium going.
If you don’t watch MMA (UFC) make sure you find a way to at least watch the Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway fight. These dudes are going to commit mid-evil levels of violence against each other tonight. It’s going to be beautiful.
Couldn’t rec enough. It’s the only fight I’m really looking forward to. Even if it’s not your thing. I actually don’t know who I’m rooting for, both are great dudes
They’re both in my top 5 of all time. This card is stacked from start to finish. 13 fights.
The curtain jerker is Garbrandt-Figereido. Both former champs.
I used to be a boxing fan and followed each weight division closely. I enjoyed watching it on tv.
Then I went to see a boxing card in person, second row.
That did it, turned me off these punching sports. I recognize the skill aspect but oof!
It’s not for everyone.
Masters Golf? Anyone?
Cinderella story…

I saw a Muay Thai fight in Phuket that we didn’t know was rigged until the third or fourth fight. They had all these “international” fighters aka white dudes and they would get in the ring with inexperienced Thai guys and pound on them.
We saw one guy get his arm completely snapped in half from the 4th row. It felt disgusted having paid money to support whatever it is they were doing.
Also, Bruno Mars was there? Weird night.
Canning going today and last I checked, Boston was TBD. If we can get Canning to pitch at least league average and the hitting continues from guys like Rendon & Schanuel, this team is cooking with gas.
And his game will be over during the early prelims for UFC300. What a day !!!
I heard from the post-game broadcast last night that it could be possible former Angel Cooper Criswell.
If so. the boys need to abuse that dude today….
So refreshing to hear this from Reid this year:
Yeah, just hope he can stay healthy and be consistent. I would love to see a 15-16 win season from him with an ERA/FIP around 3.20 or therabouts…
I’m just glad to see that mindset more, of pitching to weak contact to get quick outs and go deeper in the games, instead of looking to K every batter out there.
Looking to K every single batter you face is the pitcher’s equivalent of looking to hit a HR every time you’re up to bat, when sometimes, a cheap single or sac fly will do the job. In Reid’s case, where double-play ball will do the job just as well, if not better.
Yep, totally agree. At times it is important to be able to rear back and K somebody with 95-97 heat (such as 1 out bases loaded etc) but overall I agree… The “weak contact” approach not only keeps you in the game longer, but it also saves the bullpen which results in more W’s down the road …
Pitch to contact versus nibbling, walking dudes and then tossing a meatball.
Barry Enright already working wonders with Reid and Tyler.
Now if he can fix the headcase then it would be such a big improvement from last year’s pitching coach.
Free us from Wise!
Taking nothing away from Enright, Detmers was already ascending. Just needs maturity. Next year should be even better.
Just too early to tell about Anderson for me. What has changed this year in his approach? . Pitching into the 7th inning, certainly welcomed. The pen is the weak spot.
Reid Detmers caught on surveillance cam:
Beach Boys 1968 “Do It Again” Let’s do it to it, love to beat the Chowders.
Love to Beat-up the SUX!!!
6-14 is not going to happen but beating the Red Sox is worth it.
Definitely. There’s always next year
Missed the game and just checked the scores. Every player in the lineup got a hit and Angels have a stater who won his first 3-outings, can’t remember the last time that happened. Also, yet another errorless game, tied for third in MLB for the fewest errors allowed. 4 errors thru 12 games. Much better execution. Wash has em cook’n.
Love it when we beat the Sox. But when we beat them like this? It’s a thing of beauty I tells ya!
Chowder tastes best with tears
And a large glass of Red Whine.

Oh, and Griffin Canning with his mustache looks exactly like a young Gene Hackman. It’s uncanny, or uncanning.
Can he pitch?
Detmers pitched a fantastic game tonight, I only wish he could have finished the 7th.
Seems Brent might have finished the 6th
Que pasa?
Wedding bar – sixth of booze? Sixth inning? You finished the 1/6th
WAR out ouf this world.
When Uncle Sam is buying, who is anyone to say no 😂😂
Let’s keep our fingers crossed that he stays on this course… at some point he’ll be due for a stinker, just hope he bounces back quickly and follows it up with a good game.
I can’t remember – do the Red Sox suck or are we doing OK? Tell me!
It’s different every day!
we’re already better than I expected
It’s such a great feeling to see a player you’ve been advocating for finally put it all together.
Detmers is a stud. He’s 24 years old and looks like a grizzled ace out there.
Now we just hold out hope for the rest of them.
He’s turning out to be a bad Mother F’er.
Shut your mouth
I’m only talking about Detmers
6 years 175 million. C’mon cheap Arte’
Thanks Charles.
The Angels temporarily share first place in the AL West, although Texas is administering a beatdown to the Astros tonight.
