Today we got Reid Detmers versus Logan Gilbert up in Seattle. Shohei Ohtani was a late scratch. Zach Neto started the game today for a welcome change.
Inning 1:
The Angels did nothing. J.P. Crawford singled. So did Julio Rodriguez. First and third with no outs. A deep fly by Teoscar Hernandez would have been a homer but Jordyn Adams robbed it.
Crawford still did score and Rodriguez advanced to second. 1-0 Mariners. Cal Raleigh hit his 28th homer. 3-0 Mariners.
Inning 2:
Mike Moustakas singled and Logan O’Hoppe homered to make it 3-2 Mariners.
The Mariners did nothing.
Inning 3:
Frankly, nobody did anything of note in this inning.
Inning 4:
Logan O’Hoppe hit a solo home run to tie the game.
Innings 5 through nine:
Nothing. Detmers did give up a double and hit a guy in separate innings. Logan O’Hoppe doubled in the eighth so Seattle hit Randal Grichuk by a pitch.
Seattle did hit three singles in the ninth off of Aaron Loup but the Angels did not give up a run amazingly enough.
Inning 10:
Brandon Drury homered, scoring ghost runner Jordyn Adams. 5-3 Angels.
Julio Rodriguez homered to drive in ghost runner Dominic Canzone. 5-5 tie. Teoscar Hernandez walked. Luckily Brian O’Keefe grounded into a double play to send things into the eleventh inning.
Inning 11:
Kyren Paris was at second and Eduardo Escobar singled to bring up Randal Grichuk who also singled to drive in Kyren Paris. 6-5 Angels.
Brett Phillips grounded one to the pitcher who gunned down Eduardo Escobar at home plate. It was upheld on a challenge. Phillips reached first and Randal Grichuk made it to second. Jordyn Adams singled to score Grichuk. 7-5 Angels.
Nolan Schanuel singled to score Brett Phillips. 8-5 Angels.
Zach Neto walked to chase Seattle pitcher Gabe Speier from the game. Brandon Drury hit a fly ball for the third out. Eugenio Suarez struck out. Ty France flied out to left. Jarred Kelenic grounded out to finalize a satisfying 8-5 Angels win.
