The boys are back in town for a week but the schedule is far from easy. The Angels have won only one series this month, 2-1 vs. the Giants, and I wouldn’t expect that to change this weekend against Tampa Bay.
The Reds are a 50/50 proposition. After being the darlings of the early summer, the wheels have fallen off the Reds wagon of late. That said, I want to see this Elly de la Cruz kid with my own eyes. I love me some speed.
One young phenom we won’t see this homestand is the Rays Wander Franco, who is under a pretty serious investigation.
But don’t worry, Franco. Roid freak and friend of notorious drug dealers David Ortiz has reached out to him and offered some help. I’m sure Ortiz has the type of help that can make problems go away permanently.
As usual, the issue with the Angels has been pitching. While youngsters like Patrick Sandoval, Reid Detmers, and Jaime Barria were expected to take a step forward this year that has not been the case.
It is a little unfair to Detmers to have him as the picture in that tweet, or whatever X is calling them. After all, he was the brightest star in the Angels lone win in Arlington.
In the already looking to next year department, 2023 first round pick Nolan Schaneul is off to a great start in AA.
He hasn’t shown a ton of pop, but he did park an opposite field home run last week.
Yes, I’m linking Rocket City Trash Pandas because there’s not much to link about the major league team.
The Little League World Series is underway. At this age I feel a little sorry for the parents of kids who have been playing Little League for six months or so. Already burned through all their vacation days and budgets by now. But I love watching the little dudes play.
Sorry for the short links this week. To say work is chaotic right now would be an understatement. Please link what I missed below and enjoy your weekend.
