Jaime Barria went up against The Unknown Pitcher today.
Let’s get into it, shall we? Neither side scored in the first inning. Jaime Barria loaded the bases but got out of the jam. Both sides also failed to score in the second inning. Jaime Barria walked a batter but otherwise was much more stingy than he was in the first. Chad Wallach doubled to lead off the third inning. It could have been a triple if Wallach had the speed tool. Zach Neto advanced Wallach to third base with a fly ball out to right. Taylor Ward hit a deep fly out to center that scored Wallach. 1-0 Angels.
Shohei Ohtani walked. Brandon Drury then grounded into a force out to end the Angels third inning.
Corey Seager doubled to lead off the Rangers half of the third inning. Nathaniel Lowe homered to make it 2-1 Rangers. The next two Rangers were out but Jonah Heim got a two out double to rene3w the Rangers scoring threat. Robbie Grossman fouled out on a pop up fielded by Anthony Rendon.
Anthony Rendon and Hunter Renfroe both flied out in the top of the fourth inning. Luis Rengifo grounded out to short. Ezekiel Duran flied out to center on an excellent play by Mickey Moniak.
Leody Taveras grounded out to short as did Marcus Semien.
Mickey Moniak struck out to lead off the fifth inning, at which point Owen White replaced Cody Bradford on the mound. White struck out Chad Wallach. Zach Neto flied out to right. Corey Seager came up and homered to make it 3-1 Rangers. Nathaniel Lowe then singled. Adolis Garcia hit a pop up in front of the plate that popped out of Chad Wallach’s glove. Anthony Rendon picked up the ball and got the force out at second base. Jimmy Herget came in to replace Barria who was up to about 93 pitches at the time. He hit Josh Jung with a pitch. Jonah Heim hit a fly ball out to left. Robbie Grossman struck out.
In the sixth, Owen White struck out Taylor Ward. Shohei Ohtani singled through the right side. Brandon Drury singled through the left side. Shohei made it to second. Anthony Rendon hit an apparent double play ball, but Corey Seager dropped the ball when trying to throw to first. Shohei Ohtani saw this and took the opportunity to score from third.
Hunter Renfroe hit a two run homer to make it 4-3 Angels. Cool!
Luis Rengifo grounded out to end the Angels half of the sixth inning.
Ezequiel Duran flied out and Leodys Taveras singled on a liner to center. Marcus Semien flied out to right. At this point Aaron Loup came in to replace Jimmy Herget. Thankfully, Corey Seager flied out to Mickey Moniak to end the inning.
Mickey Moniak singled to right to lead off the Angels seventh inning. Chad Wallach walked. The Angels had men on first and second with no outs. Zach Neto was successful on a two strike bunt toward first to advance the runners to second and third. Yikes! High Anxiety! Brock Burke came in to replace Owen White on the mound. He struck out Taylor Ward. Burke then intentionally walked Shohei Ohtani and struck out Brandon Drury to end the Angels half of the Seventh. Um, OK this is a RISP poster inning. (No blame to Neto.)
Jose Soriano came in and struck out Nathaniel Lowe and Adolis Garcia. Josh Jung grounded out to end the inning.
Anthony Rendon grounded out to lead off the eighth inning. Hunter Renfroe hit a fly out to right and then Luis Rengifo flied out to center to end the Angels half of the eighth. Jacob Webb came in to replace Jose Soriano on the mound. Jonah Heim singled toward center. Travis Jankowski popped out. Ezequiel Duran struck out. Leody Taveras flied out to end the inning.
Zach Neto hit a two run homer (according to Terry Smith) to put the Angels at 6-3 Angels. Mickey Moniak grounded out and Chad Wallach had walked to put a man on for Neto. Taylor Ward struck out and Shohei Ohtani walked. After Ohtani stole second, Brandon Drury singled to score Ohtani. 7-3 Angels.
Anthony Rendon grounded into a force out to end the Angels half of the ninth inning.
The Rangers in the bottom of the ninth inning did as follows: Marcus Semien walked. Corey Seager flied out. Nathieniel Lowe reached on a fielder’s choice. Carlos Estevez came in and got Adolis Garcia to fly out. Josh Jung struck out to end the game. The Angels won 7-3.

Contributions are coming from everywhere. It’s beautiful. Still have not hit our peak but we are right at that “expect to win every inning” mentality. The hammer will come when Perry completes “how did he do that” trade boosting the team to even higher performances. A strong starter has got to be in his forethoughts.
Expecting to win 55% of the time at least, unless it’s against one of the good teams. However, this is much better than it’s been in a long time bi love that there are contributions from all. This is a much more balanced team.
3 in a row!
Did she just Fart?
Perry’s bullpen construction including whichTrash Bullies were promoted had its share of criticism. But Bachman & Soriano were definitely the right moves and here’s hoping Joyce can return here fairly soon.
I know there was a lot of clamoring for bringing up Yovan, but He’s fallen way off lately. he had another blown save today and has now given up 3 walks 7 hits and 9 ERs in his last 3 outings. Although eventually Id like to see Yovan, Murphy, Ingram & Torres get their shot theres just no room to add an arm right now. ( Even though the Angels might have to make a move to get some reinforcements up here) This is a great problem to have.
I’m digging Soriano. Effortless 98 on the gun.
Gotta love the #1 overall draft pick!
Was at the game tonight. Globe Life Field is pretty nice. The brisket nachos are amazing and Ranger fans are very pleasant. Almost makes me want to root for them

This was about as close as you can get. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QC_1WIVfJnE
I am again jealous of and happy for you being able to enjoy the comeback Angels win! Did you celebrate that awesome Neto’s 2 run homer?
I did! My girlfriend and I were cheering heartily. Renfroe’s HR was a great moment as well
OK. Now I wanna see the good vibes ooze all over Trout and Rendon. Detmers too. Let’s get the party to really party like a party. Also, my eyes saw Aaron Loup again, but everyone here seems to be OK. Herget? Sure, why not? Keep crushing StRanger dreams. Add it to the Mariner pile of congealed tears. Stay healthy, get the rest of the team firing, pump everyone full of grit. Go Angels.
I forbid Rendon to miss any games the rest of the year.
By the end of the year he will be hitting .198 and we will have 106 wins.
And then kick ass in the Playoffs.
Yeah, it’s so great. He’s Pujols without the power.
Yea yea but he’s OUR powerless Pujols!
wait
It feels great to see them battle and get another win against the Rangers, and in their stadium.
Not that I am A’s fan, but it is amazing to witness A’s win again against Rays with all those crowds screaming.
7 straight wins all against division leaders. Wtf.
They definitely deserve better. The ones I talked to were nice people.
I said it last night, and I said it tonight… a lot of game left to play when they’re behind. And what’d they do? They came back and won both games. Team has grit.
I’m too GA to check, but we have come back from behind at least 20 times and won this year.
22 now I think.
PEAK TEAM GRIT!

oh fer sure, we had them and the demolition derby cars in the mid/late ’70s
Maximum grit. All pumps at full.
The REN bros are back!
We are a good baseball team.
LBTU 😇😇😇
Light baby that up!
I love it when The Sho steals second after an intentional walk.
I think he likes it, too…..
Automatic double.
I bet he uses his superiority in stealing to tease those rooks, like Moniak and Neto, “Why don’t you young boys have more steals than old man like me?”
No one has not raised this subject for almost a month, but I assume everyone on this site is A OK with Neto to stay in 9 hole. He is doing so well there that I do not want to jinx him.
Yeah. Second leadoff and stuff
Too bad we do not have reliable leadoff hitter right now.
Not trying to argue that he’s a leadoff guy, but Taylor Ward was back to a 149 wRC+ in the month of June prior to tonight. He’s turned it back on since the White Sox series.
Wouldn’t he be better if he were in clean up hitting positions like 3,4,or 5 hole especially with that wRC+. I may be a bit biased, but he is not a lead off hitter in my lying eye test. I wish Moniak were little better against lefty, or he would have been it.
Rendon is the player of the game.
🤣
Maybe in postgame darts in the locker room….!
He he
Due to paz see ohn!
I’m with ya…Mr. Cool. His time is coming.
Guess I need to add Texas to this
MLB shop needs to hurry up and start selling Neto jerseys. I’m sick of waiting around!
Don’t they have a “create your own” Jersey?
Just choose “OTEN” and then re-arrange letters yourself
Like the game “scramble”?
I’m far too cheap for that.
