It is SO clear that the back end of the bullpen, a clear lack of consistent offense (especially with the middle infielders), and roster depth (to offset the injuries that keep plaguing us) are issues that need to be addressed.
Walsh Stassi Marsh and Velasquez had 9 of 11 Ks. While the BP did okay, 3 and a 1/3, this is the game where that 8th inning homer is magnified, it sucks. Walsh is on pace for way too many Ks and have some concerns with Stassi and Marsh.
Always close, but no cigar. Put Marsh back at Leadoff, Ward as the Cleanup hitter. My adjustments moving forward. Then Duffy after Walsh. Marsh, Trout, Ohtani, Ward, Walsh, Duffy… then whatever at the end of the Lineup
What a morbid organization. It is getting very tough to be a fan of this team anymore. No mental toughness. A 3rd baseman who doesn’t give a shit. A hitting coach who should have been fired in 2020. An owner who needs to sell the team immediately.
That was tough.
But, still, the pitching held up well.
