Shut out in back to back games… 18 straight innings with only 5 hits. Grandpa Joe Maddon better figure out the issue plaguing the offense and get creative..
Not necessarily anything to “figure out.” This is baseball. Teams go in hitting slumps. It is part of the game. It is impossible to entirely avoid offensive slumps. The key is to minimize their duration and times of occurence. I think in our case, as someone else mentioned a few days ago, we need to get better at manufacturing runs. We are near the top in HR’s but if you rely soley on the long ball for your scoring you make yourself vulnerable to what we have seen three of the last four days…
I think we need to focus a bit more on working counts, and that means the willingness to hit with two strikes etc. Hitting with two strikes is an art. Mike is of course very good at it and so is Fletch… We have to make an effort to work more walks. Then of course moving runners over and getting productive outs can plate you runs.
Again, even doing this will not completely avoid hitting/scoring slumps, but you may be able to win a few games by scores of 2-1 or 3-2 and those wins are huge over the course of a long season.
How about the 1982 ALCS collapse? Or the collapse after the dropped third strike in the 2005 ALCS? How about the 2009 ALCS Brian Fuentes/ A-Fraud 0-2 meat pitch?Or for regular season entertainment how about the 1995 September swoon?
Tradition dictates if theres a will theres a way for the Angels.
Its almost as if its weather related. Ever since this unseasonal cold spell has followed the Angels along this cross country road trip their bats have gone cold as well. So once the weather heats up so will the Angels.
Win the next two and it’s a great road trip.

I’m a large proponent of small ball. Just get hits and move the runner. The Angels are an all-or-nothing team swinging for the fences..
As predicted.. it’s the “cold weather” excuse by Angels radio guy Langston for another goose egg…
Another Ohtani K!!
This ump has been screwing us on that call all night.
Another Goose egg!!!
The first baseman lost contact with the bag?
Kind of amazing that Varsegian can’t tell the difference between an Asian guy and a white guy.
For as much as he’s talking about it tonight,…he doesn’t seem to understand you can’t lose on a walk off when your at home.
He is such an idiot for a guy who thinks he’s the smartest one in the room.
Who really, really likes himself…..he’s a douche
It’s just a mystery why he was hired.
How hard is it to find a decent announcer? I think they get these people off the streets.
When the Angels win it’s close. When they lose it’s hardly ever close. Angels are not as good as their record indicates..
Ok Season over. we’ll see you next year then.
Hopefully we can win one of the next two games and come home 16-11. I’ll take that.
Pretty optimistic.
Ohtani goes on Thursday so there is hope.
Who’s on the bump tomorrow?
Detmers. He makes me nervous every time he pitches. They better score runs tomorrow.
There’s some salt in the wound! Elvis has just been taken out of the building!!
Elvis may have returned but his balls are still leaving the building.
Well played.
I have always hated playing at Fenway Park. Ever since the 1986 disaster.
The disaster game actually occurred in Anaheim. I was there.
Yes, but they still had 2 games and neither game was even close.
It was the same as Game 6 of our World Series. There was no need to play Game 7. I was there for both of those games.
It was just a bad time in Angels history. I honestly don’t think I will ever see that kind of collapse in a playoff series again.
I sure hope you’re right. It destroyed me witnessing that.
After that I was certain the stadium was built on an ancient Indian burial ground. Then 2002 happened. Maybe the Indians were sleeping that year.
I wouldn’t hold your breath on that thought.
TrAdition!
Well, if it does happen again then we can at least say we won a couple of playoff games.

As was I. but not sure that makes that shit hole known as Boston any more palatable.
The 1986 disaster happened at Anaheim Stadium
Angels shut out TWICE in Chicago and now again in Boston. This offense is having major problems…..
rendon / walsh been terrible, coupled with auto out fletcher velazquez.. team has issues.
Angels only paid Rendon 7yrs/$245M so it was a bargain’ /sarc.
what’s important is how many days a week joe can rest him

We’ll need to fix that for October.
Hitting is streaky. That is why pitching is important
Yeah but you need to score at least a run to win lol
angels leading the league in Ks yet?
Marsh has turned into a strikeout machine. What the hell is going on with this team??
They were hot and now they are cold. I just hope the cold part doesn’t become a trend again this season.
Reverting back to the .500 team they probably are.
Probably true. April got us a little too excited.
Just wait until he starts missing Jo.
Ever since fletch signed that extension, he’s been crap.
Got paid and now can mail it in the next 5 seasons.
Even as he started swinging, Stassi was looking down the LF line.
We need base runners badly.
