Sho-Tani Leads Angels to 3-2 Win

There’s an electricity in the air when Ohtani pitches tyat is unique. It’s not just seeing a great out her. It is seeing history. Things like this just don’t happen:

Ohtani took the hill tonight and was staked to an early 2-0 lead thanks to a nice rally in the bottom of the first. David Fletcher led off with a single, moved to second on a ground out by Ohtani, then stole third. Goose punched him in for the first score.

Ohtani gave up a two run bomb in the following frame and the score stayed knotted at 2 until Mad Max drive in Jo Adell in the 6th.

The lead was in jeopardy in the top half of the 7th, but Ohtani pulled out one last bit of magic to end the threat.

Cishek pitched a scoreless 8th. Texas really helped him out. He’d walked the lead off guy and was down 3-0 to Nate Lowe who inexplicably swung at a likely ball 4 and grounded out.

The Angels got two men on with one out in the 8th but Marsh struck out swinging at ball 4 and Stassi grounded to short.

1 run lead heading to the 9th can only mean one thing: D-Cell. After a lead off single put the tying run at first, Iglesias retired the next three.

Angels win!

While refreshing having Patrick in the booth was a lot of fun especially if you enjoyed the banter back and forth between he and Gubi. So far this season we have 4 “Play by Play” voices and personalities. All four have given their best of being the Voice of the Team and I can honestly say that I would like to hear Patrick once again as one game was not enough. I sure did enjoy him though.

So many changes this year…revolving door of announcers, players dropping like flies, DFA’s, outright released, injuries, daily fights from Salt Lake. One thing hasn’t changed yet, our medical staff. Dr Nick is still on the payroll, along with the training staff. Assuming a change is coming……….DFA Dr. Nick and hire Dr. Toilet.

Very subtly confusing name….

His full name is Robert Davis Daniel, so I guess he has issues with being called “Bobby”

Then we shall call him Bobby Davis……or Ricky Bobby.
This isn’t his decision, it’s ours.

I remember a short but great interview that one time Angel Fred Lynn gave to local TV. He was asked about Tommy John, and Lynn said : “Never trust a man with two first names.”

Classic.

Ohtani is just such a pleasure to watch. He obviously loves playing the game and I couldn’t imagine throwing 117 pitches, trying to hit/make adjustments to pitcher changes then running the bases. Simply incredible.

Stassi said during the radio feed post game interview, that the Angels just wanted to give Shoehi a breather when Wise went to the mound in the 7th. When asked about whether or not Wise was discussing taking him out, “No, Shohei had good stuff and could have dealt another 100 innings, he keeps himself in great shape.”

Tough grinding 7 innings by Ohtani. He’s a fierce competitor. And good work by P. O’Neal!

Have to admit, he and Gubi seemed to flow pretty naturally.

He’s a homer, which I like. Such a difference from Matt V., who couldn’t care less about us. I don’t mind the other guy, whose name I’m too GA to remember.

Patrick seems like he has kind of a childlike glee about the game. He isn’t a whiny homer type broadcaster, but he is very genuine in his joy for the Angels. I thought he did really well. I also like Rich quite a bit. He is pretty smooth, gets into the game when it’s exciting, and works well with Gubi and Jose.

I kind of liked it in the games I’ve watched earlier on this season. If I were a Dodger or giant fan I’m not sure though.

Both teams battling with first place on the line and they gotta deal with this crap.

It’s ridiculous.
