Rays @ Angels 05/03/2021 Gamethread

Q takes the mound again as Ohtani cannot pitch today, but will DH. The offense needs to score vs a good Glasnow. A tough series starts at 6:30.

Only hope I have is Rendon was able to put some weight on his knee while walking off the field. They makes it more likely it’s a deep bruise that a fracture. Wishful thinking.

So F anyone that says anything nice about Pujols. He’s not a team player at all. Get’s thrown out with probably the worst sprint speed in MLB when he’s not even the tying run in the 8th inning. Maybe maybe maybe if his run meant anything at that point you could see trying to get into scoring position, but in that situation it’s just so idiotic. Then again his run means absolutely nothing in the 9th, Castillo is pretty much all over the place, he gets to a 2-0 count and he should like a normal team player in that situation be taking all the way to try and get more baserunners, but nah he swings at what should have been ball 3.

The Angels just feed his ego. I bet anything he still legitimately thinks he’s helping the Angels.

You are right on both counts; the tagging up play was stupid as they were down by 2 runs. And in the 9th needing baserunners and a slightly wild Castillo meant he probably should have been taking. Pujols is not playing smart baseball right now.

No argument here. There is a lot of ego feeding going on, from the booth to the dugout. He is getting way too much playing time. Need someone with some stones to tell him it’s over, you’re coming off the bench in pinch hitting duties.

I am sick of what this team has done the last ten years. They are not even fun to watch.

Swear, but should’ve posted it when J-Up got ahead 3-0: he would K.

Next batter will reach first base, followed by a double play to end the game.

We need Arte doing the Rally Monkey HOUSE OF PAIN dance on top of the dugout. Let’s go Halos!

Why does it feel like this team never believes that it belongs?

Hey, can someone tell me what Pujols did in the 7th? I’m reading the box score and it says something about a fly out double play. Judging by some of the comments below, it sounds like he did something Pujols like to make it happen…can someone explain?

Tagged on a shallow fly to left possibly thinking they’d be sleeping on him. Was thrown out by roughly 560 feet.

You can see in real time that he realizes he’s gonna be out…there was a little hesitation halfway there.

Puljos gained confidence in his legs since he stole 3rd base last week. We all know the pitcher totally slept on him but they way Gubi and Sutton was talking up the speed of the Machine, pumped Albert up into thinking he would make it tonight in a pop-up.

He thought that he had the wings of Mercury, but then woke up from that dream being tagged out trying to extend a double for mere mortals, into a double.

He thought he was Ricky Henderson. He was wrong. And if he wasn’t famous, he’d get DFA’d for being that stupid…or deluded.

I think he wants so much to be contributing…. He’s not hitting so he’s just searching for any way to do something positive. But he’s trying too hard.

Iglesias is waaay overusing his change-up.

His fastball is his best pitch. He should be relying on that much more.

Pitching sucks so I don’t pay too much attention when we’re on defense. Offense is all over the place so I only really follow the first half of the lineup. Announcing is bad so I have the TV on mute. Why does it feel like I’m watching an hour of commercials to see 12 total at bats between Ohtani, Walsh, and Trout. There must be a better way.
