Astros 16, Angels 2
Jake Odorizzi, Angels offseason target, appeared to injury his arm during the first batter of the game and had to come out.
Kent Emanuel, aka Cy Rookie, replaced him and pitched 8.2 innings of two-run ball. Go figure.
After Griffin Canning departed in the third inning, the Angels cycled through the back of the bullpen quickly, necessitating Ben Rowen to throw 52 pitches.
With a three-man bench and one of the trio (Mike Trout) injured, the Angels had two position players available. To avoid injury, José Rojas replaced David Fletcher at second and Anthony Bemboom, the catcher, replaced Justin Upton in left.
Ben Rowen could not finish the game despite his heroic effort, and Joe Maddon put Shohei Ohtani in left field and Anthony Bemboom on the mound. Go figure some more.
Angels try to avoid the sweep tomorrow.
Have to hand it to The Angels. I thought the bullpen would be toast by the beginning of July, yesterday’s game showed I was wrong and it was the end of April when they ran into bullpen arm trouble. Very impressive.
Lineup…..
&ct=g
HOU just released their lineup

No Trout, angels release their lineup

Trout injury concerns me. Like always I feel we are not being told something.
He said he doesn’t see the ball well in Houston and probably just waiting to move on to Arlington
If it was NFL season, I would have figured he was watching the Eagles. So should we just schedule him out for games in Houston?!!
That or you can roll with his sub-.800 OPS (which is still good! just nowhere near Troutian)
Injury Update re Trout
…or they might not even know the severity yet…..for some stupid reason.
Go angels.
In his 10th year in the league, he no longer heals like a teenager. Furthermore, why rush back to the crap show.
They have to know something before they can tell you something

Does anyone know what time the shit show starts today and if Madden is taking the mound to start the game? Inquiring minds want to know.
11:10am.
Lineups not released yet, as they have for the other 11am starts, so we could be looking at a covid related delay of sorts (what happened 4/17 vs minn).
I was thinking Maddon is determining whether Rendon and/or Trout are ready to go. But that doesnt explain no Houston lineup.
Rendon would have to be activated and there’s usually a press release with a corresponding roster move.
True that. For some reason I thought he was off the IL. But you are right.
I believe they also wanted to figure out if Altuve was available
It’s games like this where I really miss TAME.
We may win some games…
New for the Seventh Inning Stretch, at home and on the road.
The new crew in the booth does not like the team they are getting paid to do play by, what is that, play. Gubi is having a hard time in the side convos with Matt cheering for the opponents. Has V done a game that the Angels won yet?
Daron’s allegedly a fan, too bad he sucks.
Zero chemistry and a confusing mess. Longing for the days of phys and hud at this point. Had no idea Matt v would be phoning in games randomly. Peak arte decision.
One of the worst broadcasts I’ve heard. Darron tries to sound like a ‘broadcaster’ and comes across like an amateur playing an being an announcer. Like if I got behind the mic and tried to create a ‘voice’.
No chemistry between Sutton, Gubi nor José. Sutton’s jokes fall flat. His Gubi Tuesday schtick seems forced. Just not a fan at all.
This team just feels rudderless. I mean Trout’s 29, Rendon’s 30, WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR. We should’ve gotten Dombrowski, bottom third farm system be damned.
Yup. Watching the Padres and Dodgers go all in with their star players in their prime while Trout gets surrounded by journeymen and aging vets his ENTIRE career is saddening..
5 tool player? Wonder what his spin rate is?
Canning needs to spend time in SLC learning to pitch again.
16-2 pAthetic. Can’t wait till they draft more toolsy outfielders who didn’t even try playing baseball until after high school, on a whim because the local JC coach needed to fill out his roster.
Adell, didn’t they once make comic books?
A little hat-tip in honor of your advanced gif-fu:
The real gif goat could find a mo vaughn video of him falling into the Indians dugout on an Omar Visquel foul ball.

You’re becoming a goat yourself!
here’s the article right after it happened.
https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1999-apr-07-sp-25080-story.html
I’ve been looking and just saw some guy, who listed the play as 1 of 15 “fails”, saying he was surprised he couldn’t find video
I tapped all my outlets and couldn’t even find highlight of the 4/6/1999 game
Rev wrote a good article awhile back about Pujols and Vaughn
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.halosheaven.com/platform/amp/2012/4/5/2929245/pujols-is-no-mo-vaughn
Angels need a guy with intensity like Lackey and Weaver.
I’ll add Washburn to that mix since we’re basically talking same angels era
This team is currently built to win with offense. When we have four starters out, and two of them are Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon, we’re seeing that there’s no way that we’re going to be competitive. We weren’t wrong in the offseason about being very concerned that we didn’t sign any pitchers of note.
This is going to be a long season.
Yep – this team has no depth to survive injuries. Completely healthy it’s a decent club (85-87 wins). But injuries are part of the long season so it’s not a good team if it cannot withstand some injuries.
At least we have Pujols at the mark of the beast!

I don’t usually bring this out til June but today’s game in combo with last night warranted it.

AsSHAT fitting
That’s funny!
Yes it is!
Relegation!!!!
Made the front page of Reddit, well done

Some of you made fun of me for saying I felt the season was on the brink the other day…it’s on its way to ending by April once again. This team is turning out to be very gutless. Rendon is once again hurt to start a season which suggests he’s not taking the off-season seriously to train. Our our pitching is bottom in the league. Griffin Canning is ruined, and Perry is doing the same pitching dumpster diving as the predecessors. Jo Adell is probably sitting their dropping more balls in Arizona. This team sucks and no one has fire.
Hey – congrats on being right. You’ve got some bragging rights! 😥
Hey!
What abawt mee?
The difference is you are ALWAYS negative.
I predicted a 2-7 ( could be worse!) road trip so you’re not alone. In addition, Jeff called the sweep by the Astros and even labelled this series a “season derailer.” He was right on the mark it appears.
“I’ll pretend nothing is wrong if you pretend nothing is wrong”
Captain Smith??
No it’s Maddon.
Ha. I hope not.
lol
What a Fucking circus and one giant mess. 3-7 in last 10. 0-4 in a losing streak. We have no Bullpen, we have maybe 2 starters, our 2 best players injured with one just having some pain we’re told. How they have fallen so low a DH played the field and a catcher pitched to save the pen to have some innings for tomorrow. what a disgrace. A college team would whip on this clueless group of has beens and wanna be’s.
Put little Angels uniform on and sell them.
Did I not warn everyone saying “World Series” after the first week and a half that they were being premature???
I even reminded them about our start in 2018.
Something you want to be right about?
I’d rather be wrong, believe me.
Hey Asstros… springer sums up what we Angel fans are thinking right now:
Pretty sure Yog-Sothoth has been living directly underneath the Anaheim Stadium grounds for the past 100 million years.
Lovecraftian references get an auto rec. The old ones have really been pouring it on lately.
