The Angels signed Juan Lagares to a minor league deal. He will make $1.25 Million if he makes it to the big leagues. Jo Adell and his sister Jessica were interviewed by Lauren Chamberlain for National Girls And Women In Sports Day. Lauren Chamberlain is the all time home run leader in college softball.
Jeff Luhnow’s lawsuit against the Astros is dismissed with prejudice. Apparently the two sides came to some sort of an agreement. The Rangers and Athletics swapped veterans in a five player deal. Elvis Andrus goes to Oakland who need some help due to the departure of Marcus Semien and Tommy La Stella. The Rangers got Khris Davis. Mike Fiers signed with the Oakland Athletics for one year at $3.5 Million. Apparently no other major league team made him a serious offer. Jonathan Lucroy got a minor league deal with the White Sox. Felix Hernandez got a minor league deal with the Orioles. Oh, and Trevor Bauer signed with the Dodgers on Friday.

Saw over on Instagram from Halosnetwork, Angels deep in talks with Osuna, from a baseball stand point he’s good. From a PR standpoint, not so good, in fact if what happened was true then it’s horrible.
good, Ohtani is signed and ready to go! I’m glad they didn’t sit down and argue. That’s the worst part of arbitration and now won’t happen.
2 yrs, $8.5mil.
CHP?
he better
This is the year!
Hmmm… Did I say this last year?
Sure hope he can pitch effectively
**Once a week
And when he hits 60% of the time, he needs to hit every time.
Wow, I’m a little surprised. The “file” and “trial” approach the Angels were taking seemed to be pretty set in stone. This figure represents more than the $3.5M/yr his team was looking for, right? Even though I believed the Angels position last month was well within reason, this is good news and hoping to see Shohei bounce back with vengeance.
I appreciate Shohei’s perspective on his year last year…calling it “pathetic.” He’ll be ready. His turnaround this season could be much greater than any of the FA pick-ups Perry has signed thus far. Go Halo’s.
The Angels got the $3.0M they wanted for this year, and in exchange Ohtani got a guaranteed raise to $5.5M for 2022. Basically, Ohtani transferred the risk he might have more pitching problems this year in exchange for half a million.
I like the Ligares signing. Salt Lake looks to start the year with a really nice outfield.
Do any of the guys getting minor league deals with NRI’s have opt outs if they don’t make the opening day roster or do they go to SLC after the roster is set?
I linked this info on Friday, ha ha.
Those things are all negotiated. If the player has 6 years of MLB service time he is given a $100k retention bonus if assigned to the minor leagues.
Yeah that link was very informative. It’s hard to find out that kind of information for some reason.
I just went back and read the linked article. Thank You. it was very informative. i guess I was too intimidated to read it on Friday since it used the word “complex” in the title
Pinned Stories should have a shorter shelf life staff. We have all read them at least twice and today folks aren’t aware that this Monday recap is here.
Alternatively, keep the most recent daily link article pinned.
Two columns. Links to one side and pinned to the other
Tom Brady is just the G.O.A.T. at QB.
Boy did the Rangers get the wrong end of the deal. Andrus has something left in the tank while Davis maybe running on empty. Maybe the change of scenery will apply here.
They will get .247 out of Davis.
That was my first thought. Rangers trade for .247 hitter.
I have kept my streak alive by watching exactly zero seconds of the Super Bowl, the pre game and post game hype, as well as any half time commercials.
You missed nothing exciting or worthwhile.
I figured that would be the case. I quit watching and following football years ago so now I play golf in the afternoon on Super Bowl Sunday.
I went skiing last year. It was busier than I expected but still not as bad as a typical Sunday.
Tom Brady is 43. Albert Pujols is allegedly 41.
Imagine if……Albert Pujols aged like Tom Brady has aged.
If Pujols lost 20-30lbs and developed a launch angle he’d be great. If he Barry Bonds it, he’d be the best hitter on the team
What is interesting is Brady’s focus on achieving the elusive “perfection”. It’s clear Pujols stop caring about achieving perfection years ago.
Don’t forget the copious amounts of PEDs that Barroids injected helped more than a little bit to his late career aberration.
That was the intent
If he Barry Bonds it = If he steroids it
If Brady playing until he’s 49 too?
