Everybody’s hiring the big guns in the big league lawsuit by the Staten Island Yankees against the New York Yankees and Major League Baseball. Speaking of big league lawsuits, Ryan Howard and Ryan Zimmerman have an ongoing federal defamation lawsuit against Al Jazeera America and its parent company. They are now trying to block the release of court documents, including a hearing transcript, to the public. This is all about whether the two used prohibited performance enhancing substances.

As reported yesterday, the Angels acquired Alex Cobb from the Orioles in exchange for Jahmai Jones and some salary relief. The Angels are supposedly in on the Jake Odorizzi sweepstakes. Jared Walsh got an honorable mention as a right fielder primed to break out in 2021.

So Simmons was like suicidality depressed when he left the team last year. I’m kind of glad to hear it. Sounds like he was a mess but knew to come up for air and get help. I’m also glad that things weren’t what they seemed and he’d just walked away in a huff over contract stuff and a crap season. Always loved me some Simba, so I’m glad he had solid reasons for his actions.
Man, there were some people dragging him pretty hard in the GT’s last year for walking away at the end. You just never know what someone is dealing with.
So happy he took the time he needed and we didn’t lose another guy on the team.
Bad link.
And Chris Archer signs for less than what we will pay Cobb + losing Jam Jones
Caribbean Series on ESPN Deportes all week. Three games on today.
It is good for the soul to watch some baseball.
It is my hope that the MLB Owners lose their collective ass in the lawsuit. Taking away Baseball from areas that love the game, taking away full and part time work, and all because of Greed.
Dustin Pedroia – look up ballplayer in the dictionary and his name will be circled. He played to win and brought it to the park everyday.
I looked it up and found David Eckstein!
Perdoia was a guy you hated on the other team but loved on yours. Absolute grinder.
I could do without the attitude but Erstad wasn’t known for being nice and humble, either.
I would much prefer Walsh breaks out as a 1B and keeps Albert on the bench.
I’ll take a breakout any way it comes.
The other late breaking news from yesterday is the MLBPA rejected the 154 game proposal and did not make a counteroffer.
There was no doubt that Howard was using ‘Roids. Zimmerman could not stay healthy so that would be par for the coarse. But neither are HoF material.
Is Walsh better label as First Baseman to break out?
I guess they wanted to mention him, but couldn’t see mentioning him over Vlad Guerrero Jr. or Evan White.
This is how bad yesterday was, if I’m scouring the internet for even the merest scrap of positive Angels content. Today’s probably going to be bad too.
It’s a self-inflicted wound by the franchise
Correct Senator! Since I don’t really expect Arte to sell the franchise anytime soon, the only logical next move is to fire Carpino. Any rational organization has to look at the run of negative events over the last few years and determine that drastic action is required. All this stuff happened on his watch and he has to be held accountable. No more low level sacrificial lambs please!
