If a mysterious man appeared to me at a crossroads on March 1 2026 and told me that I could see Carpino, Arte and eventually Kuhl removed from the Angels equation, a significant number of kids will play, plus the farm system will take a big jump, BUT the team would lose 100 games, I would have kissed that fella full on the mouth.
Why? Did I enjoy losing 100? Hell no. Was it significantly more miserable than the two seasons before? Nope. Not really. All in all I watched the same crap team I have been watching. But, as apposed to say 2024 and 25, at the end of this season I actually feel like the team is girding its loins for a push towards consequential existence again. We aren’t too far away from the freeway series being an actual fight again. We likely have a fairly long period of prospect busts and gains ahead of us. The team’s record will likely still suck. But We are at least moving through the swamp instead of just rolling around in it crying like a bunch of bitches.
Here’s a good example. I actually give a shit about our off season. That hasn’t been the case in years since I knew Ohtani would leave I didn’t even give a shit that winter. Now I am even looking for news of guys who wear polo shirts getting hired. It’s a positive thing.
I still hate the Dodgers too.

If there’s any consolation, at least we are ahead of the Athletics in the draft and waiver wire. They’ve been ahead of us for a while with how they get just as many losses as we do, but spend a fraction of what we’ve spent. New stadium? They got it. Consistently better farm system? They got it. Young, controllable talent? They have more of it. BUT picks 32, 62, 92 > 33, 63, 93 is bound to be what turns this tide! I’m being real

Well Kurt Suzuki, enjoy your next adventure, because when that phone rings, it won’t be The Angels, but maybe there is a slight chance it could be a single A Angels affiliate. Your bullpen decisions, though you didn’t have a lot of choices, was still abysmal.
I agree but a very close second is the lack of fundamental baseball by the team. The defense was A ball or lower. Throwing to the wrong base. Dropped pop ups. Not catching simple throws. I know the talent was lacking but mental errors should not be acceptable by a MLB manager.
Yet last year’s defense was as bad or worse and Washington has a reputation for instilling fundamentals, so maybe it’s not all on Kurt.
Kurt sucks, he has been a part of this org for 5 years now, time to move on.
They are an error prone team.
