Totally agree with Jeff’s article. Don’t sign any pitchers. Yesterday’s line up featured maybe 3 players who should be MLB regulars. We are many players short right now.

You know your young pitchers are starting to round in to shape when Kikuchi comes off the IL and you’re like “Oh man. But I want MOAR KIDZ.” I’m getting so chuffed about these guys that I would rather watch Hertado or someone and I think Silent C has a chance to be good when he bounces back… but I have no reason for those thoughts.

No. I do not want to sign Mize or Peralta. I don’t want to sign any pitchers accept depth/back end arms like Chris Paddack or something. I want MOARR KIDZZ on the mound. I’d rather just extend Detmers than pay Mize.

Mike Forst and Dana Brown are on the Front Office Exec market. Man, you want to talk about an owner I’d hate to be stuck with, Jim Crane is pretty hard to take. He’s like “extra Arte”. He pretty much hired the guy who built the Atlanta super farm, then started the “early extension” trend for them…. and then didn’t let him do any of that stuff in Houston. Still, the Astros develop hitters pretty dang well…. I’m just saying. Jim Crane and has muscular man friend Jeff Bagwell will be the GM for now. Moz + Ex-Astros GM would be a wild combo, but very good with data.

Remember Raisal Iglesias? We as fans are so good at complaining that we managed to complain about him. An incredible effort by an incredible group. I’d kind of forgotten about him till I watched some Braves games this month. He’s still just trucking along being really good.

There is no immediate need to spend “big money” on free agents.

When the team is one player away from seriously competing for a World Series championship, then perhaps it makes sense.

I agree. One, or even two, big money players aren’t going to push this team into contention so it would be better to invest that money into development and scouting right now.

Agree, but we’re going to have nobody on the books other than Trout after next year. If we finally get a little lucky, and this pitching can continue on the home grown path – and we see development of a few of our young hitters (Moore, Nimalla, etc) – some solid floor spend could be warranted.

I’m not against an early free agent signing to signal to the baseball world that the team is on the way up, but it should make sense. I don’t think the Angels should be signing free agent pitchers to big money deals right now now. They have quite a bit of youthful talented pitchers and they should see how that shakes out. Maybe they could look at position players, but even there, they should wait one more year to get a better sense of the youth movement. About the only thing they should sign this offseason (optimistically assuming there will be something like a normal one) are players that could be flipped at the trade deadline.

I’m pretty much in agreement. I think the big money deals are almost always over pays. Now if you can get some guys with upside on short deals that can be moved at the deadline – or won’t break the bank if they aren’t – that’s the game I’d play.

If I owned the team and it was my money, I would not think about spending any money until the winter of 2028 so I had some idea of what I actually needed. Unfortunately, the pitching is several years ahead of the position players.
