The Angels bats have been on fire lately and were due for a bad day. Unfortunately for Angels fans, that day was today.
German Marquez was the beneficiary of a swift return to the mean and kept the Angels off the board. Yusei Kikuchi pitched 6 scoreless innings.
For no logical reason, Kurt Suzuki put Ryan Zeferjahn in to a tie game. Zef does what Zef does best and un-tied the game. SD took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 8th that pretty much sealed the deal.
Nolan Schanuel cut the SD lead in half with a key single that only happened because he successfully challenged a bad strike call.
Despite SD having back to back lefties due up to start the 9th, Mensa candidate Suzuki left Nick Sandlin in and he gave up 1 more run to give SD back a 2 run lead at 3-1.
The Angels brought the tying run to the plate in the 9th but Mason Miller was just too much.
Rubber game tomorrow with the CtPG crew in attendance.
